Northern Mande IG Cluster Mar 2015 Update
Northern Mandé Cluster PROJECT UPDATE CÔTE D’ VOIR E MARCH 2015 theseedcompany.org Update From the Northern Mandé Cluster* Progress Goals Quick Facts Team Worodougou: Luke half drafted. Genesis three-fourths back translated and one-fourth consultant checked. Mahou: Luke consultant checked. John tested and half back translated. IG* Phase: Translations and adaptations of Genesis, Matthew, Luke and John in four languages. Location: Côte d’Ivoire Number of Speakers: 429,000 in four people groups Expected Completion: 2015 Worodougou: Pastor Moussa, Mahou: Bamba and Pastor Soulyemane. Need continues for Koyaga and Wodjeneka translators. Highlights 01 A leader in the majority religion assists Pastor Moussa as he works on the Book of Genesis in the Worodougou language. 02 Pastor Moussa read portions of Genesis to a young man, who subsequently told him he no longer practices prayers in the majority religion. 03 Jesus, who’s the only “light of the world,” pierces the darkness and sets the captives free. A Busy Man Pastor Moussa is a very busy man. He coordinates the Worodougou project. He translates the Scriptures. He organizes workshops. He has planned a linguistic workshop this month to establish the Koyaga and Wodjeneka alphabets as well as to finalize the Worodougou and Mahou spelling systems. Moussa also trains and gives advice to other Bible translation teams. Additionally, he’s a PR person, ensuring that administrative authorities, cultural and religious leaders and the general public perceive the essential value of the project. To improve literacy, Moussa also leads a reading class. He has invited a leader in the majority religion to do the back translation of the last part of Genesis in Worodougou. This leader is now reading God’s Word in his heart language. Ask the Lord to make 2 Timothy 3:16 come alive in his life. Jesus is eager to help people find the truth. He wants to reveal Himself, throwing light on their path. People who don’t have Scripture in their mother tongue don’t have the light. Their understanding is like a weak flashlight that’s useless for really dark places. But when they have God’s Word in their heart language, the light is available for all to see. God’s workers in the Northern Mandé area want people to come to the light. In a place where fewer than five percent are Christians, churches and missions feel an urgent need to give the Scriptures to young congregations to help them build a firm foundation for their faith and develop tools for evangelizing people. Walking in the Light “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.” — John 8:12 (NLT) Go online for more updates and to join the community conversation! theseedcompany.org/projects/northern-mandé-ig-cluster Pray For Your People 01 02 God, we ask that many Mahou and Worodougou people will be converted by the power of Your Word in their own language. Build Your church. Father, please choose and prepare those who will translate Scripture in Koyaga and Wodjeneka. Enable them to produce quality work and may they grow in obedience to You. 03 Lord, we ask You to heal Moussa’s wife, mobilize local churches to pray and establish an adequate orthography for all four languages. Increase the faith of Your people. © Copyright 2015 The Seed Company. All rights reserved. Do not duplicate. Do not reproduce in any form in full or in part, or rewrite without written permission.
