The Iceland Responsible Fisheries logo indicates Icelandic origin of fish catches
in Icelandic waters and responsible fisheries management.
It refers to Icelandic origin and to the Statement on Responsible Fisheries in
Iceland. The logo indicates Icelandic origin of Oscar’s Fish products.
Sustainable and responsible fisheries management in Iceland is of fundamental
importance as fisheries are one of the main pillars of the Icelandic economy. The
seafood industry meets the demands of seafood buyers for sustainable use of
marine resources. The Iceland Responsible Fisheries programme is developed on
the basis of commitments made through national law and international
agreements.

Iceland:
Clean Environment, Pristine Waters
Iceland is an island Nation in the North Atlantic, remote from the industrial centres of Europe and America.
Icelandic waters are pristine due to its geographic location and ocean currents.
Oscar’s Fish are caught and harvested exclusively in these exclusive coastal waters. Most of Oscar’s Fish
products are caught wild using sustainable techniques, although some aquaculture is employed.
MAST (The Icelandic Food and Veterinary Authority) states that no serious viral diseases have ever
been identified in aquaculture in Iceland. Scientific research shows that Icelandic fish are virtually free from
pollution, antibiotics, chemicals, heavy metals, dioxins or other medical products. Icelandic fish meet EU
standards for volume of dioxins which should be no more than 4 picograms per 1 gram (1 picogram = one
trillionth of a gram). Icelandic fish and seafood has only 0.0001 of the permitted amount.
ISO 9001 Quality systems in Icelandic aquaculture are approved with ISO 9001:2008, GMP+, and Global
G.A.P. In February 2014 our factory was certified with the IFFO Responsible Sourcing standard, which
assures customers that all sourcing of raw materials for the feed is sustainable (Section 15 on responsible
use of natural resources).
Aquaculture and Processing
The Eco feed diet is of the highest quality. Aquaculture diets do not contain antibiotics, hormones, melamine,
growth promoters, cantaxantin, salmon meal offal or waste from any other farmed species. The fish swim
freely in spacious sea cages in the rapidly flowing natural fresh ocean water simulating natural conditions.
Each aquaculture area is left to recover after each harvest, ensuring recovery of the
seabed and environment. This method minimizes the negative effects of environmental degradation and
significantly reduces the risk of serious diseases in the salmon fish.
The Salmon fish diet content: 25-55% fishmeal, 27-38% fishoil, 8-18% wheat, 0-12% sunflower,
0-8% wheat gluten, 0-7,5 qrill, 0-18% soymeal, 1-2% broken pellets and feed dust, below 2%
in total of vitamins, pigment and additives. Pigments in the amount of 55 ppm are added to the feed
for consumer preference. The colourant is PANAFERD-AX.
No GMO in Oscar’s Fish feed. We are dedicated to a non-GMO feed mill and all raw materials are GMOfree. The brood stock fish has not been modified in any way. We have made all efforts to keep our feed as
natural and non-GM as possible but are aware that we cannot control minimal levels of contaminants.
Compliance with Directive 2002/32/EC
OSCAR’S FISH products comply with the “Directive 2002/32/EC of the European Parliament and of the
council of 7 May 2002 – on undesirable substances in animal feed.
This directive includes Arsenic, Lead, Mercury, Pesticides, dioxin and PCB. OSCAR’S FISH sends
samples for testing four times per year to the European Union authority and all test analysis results and
values come in far below the limits in the directive each time showing the quality of feed.
Sanitation
Since 1983 there has never been a single case of salmonella in OSCAR’S FISH products.
Our people and cars are disinfected daily upon entry to the production area and the warehouse.
Once a month we take random samples in the factory,
Single Freezing vs Double Freezing
Double frozen.
Shrimps are caught by trawlers and then packed in bulk package and quick frozen on board ship.
In the factory on land the shrimps are defrosted in warm water then peeled, steamed and then quick
frozen again and packed.
This double frozen method is used by most of peeled and steamed Shrimp producers from the North
Atlantic, approximately 80-90 %.
Single frozen
OSCAR’S FISH shrimps are single-frozen to preserve natural taste, texture, and softness.
To keep the maximum freshness the shrimps are chilled with ice at immediately after catch and
delivered to the factory where it is peeled, graded, steamed, quick frozen and packed.
