Tourism Director Visits Pointe Vista
Conducts Area Tour with Corps of Engineers & Local Officials
Oklahoma
Tourism
Director
Deby
Snodgrass recently visited Pointe Vista in
conjunction with a day-long familiarization
tour of the Lake Texoma recreation area.
While in Marshall County, the director met
with Pointe Vista officials
and Col. Michael Teague,
Commander of the Tulsa
District of the U.S. Army
Corps of Engineers, which
oversees the Texoma Lake
area. The Corps is now in
the process of completing
an Environmental Impact
Statement (EIS) for 1,022
acres of land slated for
Pointe Vista development.
Deby Snodgrass
“We continue to monitor

the efforts of the Corps of Engineers
and look forward to the completion of
EIS in a timely manner,” Snodgrass said.
“Understandably, it is a detailed and
lengthy research process that takes many
months to complete. Once finalized,
it will allow us to move forward
quickly with both the Pointe Vista
and Texoma State Park projects.
In the meantime, I am pleased
with the ongoing communication
between our office, the Corps and
Pointe Vista team – which
is important to keeping
the assessment process on
track.”
She added, “Our primary
goal, working with the
communities and investors,
is to provide increased quality
recreational opportunities in the
Marshall County area as soon as
possible.”
Scott Fischer, Chief Operating
Officer for Pointe Vista, said, “We are
appreciative of the hard work being
undertaken by the Tourism Department
to move the EIS project along and the
entire project forward. The long-term
success of the resort community depends
on the purchase of the additional land,
which requires a thorough review process
and Environmental Impact Statement (EIS)
by the federal government. The EIS process
is important in assuring the development
of a long-term, sustainable community in
this area.”
A significant amount of research and
technical work is required to complete
the EIS. This includes
analysis of threatened
or endangered species;
impact upon air and
water quality and historic
and cultural sites; impact
on
socio-economic
development; and a cost
analysis.

A letter from… Pointe Vista
Chief Operating Officer
Scott Fischer
Dear Friends,
It has certainly been
an
interesting
and
challenging
summer
season
for
Pointe
Vista. In June, the area
received severe weather
and a small tornado –
causing over $500,000
in damage to the marina
area. The good news
is that our super team of construction workers is
doing a great job in helping to rebuild and renovate
the facilities.
The July 4th weekend was tremendous – we had
great crowds and the boating season continues to
be strong.
Despite the unseasonably hot weather, our
popular Chickasaw Pointe Golf Course and
Catfish Bay Marina have remained busy, and our
unique Stay-N-Play package, in cooperation with
the Choctaw Nation, is proving to be a real hit with
both individuals and groups. We invite you to visit
and experience this exciting venue.
Ryan Chapman and the Pointe Vista golf course
team are to be commended for their special
efforts to revitalize the Chickasaw Pointe course
– especially after the challenging weather from
last winter and this summer’s heat wave. But, with
the new greens, the golf course is now better than
ever!
Recently, we were very pleased to host new
Tourism Director Deby Snodgrass and Corps of
Engineers officials at Pointe Vista. The visit and
discussions regarding the ongoing EIS process
were helpful. We continue to be very responsive
to the Corps and their environmental contractors,
the Tourism Department and other entities to push
for a completion of this systematic process in the
timeliest manner possible. We remain committed to the goal of establishing
Pointe Vista as a strong tourism and investment
location – helping to grow our tourism product,
create jobs and bring out-of-state capital to the
Marshall county area.
We look forward to seeing you at Pointe Vista this
summer and fall!
Sincerely,
Scott & Janet Fischer

Beacon Awards ceremony, which recognizes businesses and organizations
for their contributions to the nonprofit community.

Engineers to help keep the Environmental Impact Study (EIS) moving
forward,” Snodgrass said.
This is the second time Pointe Vista has undergone an environmental
assessment. The first assessment of Pointe Vista’s initial 750-acre
purchase resulted in a “Finding of No Significant Impact” to the
environment. Preceding the sale of the additional 1,022 acres, the Corps
decided that an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) assessment was
justified.
Expenditures for the technical review are estimated to top $2 million.
Already, Pointe Vista has submitted payment for the initial two phases
of the analysis – which included the collection of important seasonal
data this summer.

Golf Course Gets Rave Reviews
The summer season has been busier than ever
at the Chickasaw Pointe Golf Club.
Recent course improvements have made the
7,085 yard championship course one of the
region’s finest.
“The Champion bermudagrass, a type of
ultradwarf grass known for its incredible
ball roll and exceptional wear tolerance, has
proven to be a real hit with the golfers,” said
Ryan Chapman, Pointe Vista Development
Manager. “The enduring grass makes it
playable for golf enthusiasts all year round.”
The course layout features rolling hills and
picturesque views of Lake Texoma. The par 72
course offers four sets of tees that give golfers
of all skill levels an enjoyable time.
“The condition of our greens is excellent – even
with the current unseasonably warm weather.
Our golf course team has played a major role
in restoring the course as a result of last year’s
extreme weather,” Chapman said.
New rental clubs available
Chickasaw Pointe has also made it easier for
the Texoma area visitor who is without their
set of clubs.
Superb new Titleist golf clubs are now available

– including north Texas. Chickasaw Pointe

courses in America for under $50 green fee in
GOLF Magazine and ranked one of the top two
public courses in Oklahoma.
“We’re still the best bargain around,” he said.
“Our Stay and Play package, where we teamed
up with the luxurious Choctaw Casino Resort

continues to be a best-seller, allowing golf
enthusiasts to enjoy our course and our resort’s
