While the car show was small the action was fast and furious on the rack. There was a major wreck on the track and the good news was there were no injuries. The driver got out of the wreck by himself. The car needed some major body work after this crash, but was safe and fun. Following the races, The INCCC members and others in the Car Show made a lap while giving military members, veterans and their family a ride in our cars. The judging was done by the active military member from the area with Al Gabitos won Best in Show, Larry Roullier won 1st Place. All the cars and trucks were a great hit with the families. Proceeds from the car show went to the INCCC Scholarship Fund. Following the pace lap, the families, car show winners and racers met at the pits for presentations, beer-thirty and David’s Pizza. The families had a chance to meet the race drivers and look a the cars. All and all it was a fun day and making Operation Spokane Heroes a success for Spokane County Raceway and the members of the INCCC. The Members of the INCCC would also want to say “Thank You” to Spokane Country Raceway officials for their support Photos & Article by: Alan & Suzie Stacey @ Timber Creek Grill Buffet At: 7:00 P.M. It was “Free Admission “ for car participants and all staff, spectators. There were Hot dogs, cotton Candy and refreshments for a hot day. For the kiddies they had a Dunk Tank and Jumping Castle. There was about 30 or so cars for this function. One car club really supported this car show. The CARS of Spokane should up with about 10 cars. Carol Ann Christnacht (activities director) said this was a success for the residents and for Good Samaritan Society. She’s planning for next years show, bigger and more activities. Put this one for your calendars for next year. It’s a blast! (APRIL—SEPT) 8625 N. GOVT. WAY HAYDEN, IDAHO (208) 762-2320 paulbunyan@roadrunner.com Duane Murphy. We have new By-Laws. The hard work of the committee has paid off. We have a new rod map for the council to navigate into the future. The council has grown since the 80’s when we started. Thanks to all who worked on the By-Law, and thanks to the membership for final approval. The Down Town Scholarship Show was a huge success. We had about 350 cares. The down side of the evening, was a terrible car crash in the Spokane Valley that involved council member Andrea Bevaquea. She was badly injured when someone rear ended her at high speed and put her in the hospital. We pay and wish her a speedy recovery. This is the first time in the history of the Down Town Scholarship Show, I can remember something like this happening to one of our members or participants. The weather has sure been funny, with storms moving in on the weekends. Some shows have had to deal with rain and lightning. Its always a toss up when hoping for good weather for good turnouts of shows. We have lots of shows ahead so please support the car clubs and their charities and have fun. We have some new members joining INCCC from the shows they attend. The Good Guys Show will be here by the time you read this, and promises to be large. Hope to see you there. The price of gas still seems to be a hot topic at car shows. Who would ever thought gas would be given away as a door prize? Well now days gas is gold. When I started driving, a gallon of gas was 24 cents. I could go on a date for five bucks. Hamburgers were 19 cents. Times sure have changed, but the muscle cars and hot rods are still the same. We just pay more to have fun. Hang on to your youth. See Ya at the shows. Duane Murphy Chairman Haul Ass to Harrison Show 'n' Shine Sept 12th The Harrison Chamber of Commerce would like to invite your members to the 12th Annual open show for all classic cars and motorcycles in downtown Harrison, Idaho, on Lake Coeur d'Alene on Sept 12, 2010. Good luck to each and everyone in all your future endeavors. Thank you to the Inland Northwest Scholarship Committee for giving these people the opportunity to receive these scholarships. & & The show committee would also like to thank everyone who participated and helped in the show. We had over 319 special interest vehicles with 20 winners at the end of the night. Thank you first to Mike Eyers from NAPA for sponsoring the dash plaques. Without that sponsor this show would not be the success that it is. Also thank you to the following car clubs, businesses and individuals who sponsored the 20 trophies that were given away at the end of the evening: Classic Autos, Rods of Spokane, The Dukes Car Club, The Gents Car Club, Inland Empire Convertible Club, Inland Empire Mustang Club, Inland Northwest Camaro Club, Inland Northwest Car Club Council, Inland Northwest Thunderbird Club, Inland Northwest Fords Unlimited, Italian Car Club, Lilac City Mopars Unlimited, Misfires, Northwest Cruisers - PT Cruisers, North Idaho Classics, Northwest Speed & Marine, Pete & Kathy Presta, Spokane Corvette Club, Studebakers Drivers Club and the Twisted Tunerz.. Annual FORD SHOW at Airway Heights Sunset Park on July 31st. was challenged by mother nature, with wind and thunder showers , plus the show date had to be moved up two weeks due to another major car event on our normally scheduled date, but we survived. The attendance was down from our past years, but participants felt that the show was a success. Awards went out to 55 different classes with the support of the Camaro Club, Travis Foundry, Airway Heights Parks & Recs, the N/W Thunderbirds and N/W Fords Unlimited did it again. We even had a car from Texas, several from Canada and the west side of the state. The kids and some adults received a free kazoos to go along with the great play ground equipment, vendors, outdoor movie, great music and beer garden, at the festival. With the support of over 60 great sponsors, our raffle booth did well. Will Murray donated a very well trained dog to be raffled that was a hit. Thanks goes out to all that attended and helped to make the show a success. Looking forward to 2011 Photos & Article by: Ron & Sandy Knight Inland Northwest Car Club Council Apparel! Meeting Notes cont. on page - 7 Page-6 LIBERTY LAKE CRUISE First of all, let me state that coordinating a car cruise night is certainly not my area of expertise! Even with all of the mistakes I made, most people didn't notice them and had a great evening. The only major complaint was that the course was too short, and that will definitely be remedied next year. The intent was to have the cars cruise around the business area of Liberty Lake and have a large area set aside for overheated cars, spectators, etc. We finally got 81 cars lined up and the cruise started. It worked perfectly for several laps, a thing of beauty and a joy forever! However, as I stood at the registration area on the backside of the cruise, the cars suddenly stopped coming! Totally! Not one car! I jumped in the Barlows Restaurant cart and went around in front, just to find all of the cars diagonally parked as if it were a show and shine. The people had their lawn chairs out in the grass, sitting in the shade, and listening to the d.j. play the old-time rock and roll. It seems that a car overheated and one of the Liberty Lake flaggers directed him to the set-aside area. Everyone else followed suit. Within a few minutes, there was a show going on that would rival the downtown show for precision! It was obvious that everyone was having a good time shopping the vendors, grabbing some food at one of the fast-food places, or just kicking tires. We left well enough alone until the sun went down and it cooled down a bit, then got the cruise going again. That was not the plan but it sure could be next year. The city of Liberty Lake were excellent to work with, furnishing flyers, barricades, flaggers, etc. and we're already planning next year. The course will be greatly expanded and the registration bottleneck reworked. Rest assured that I will be looking for Council volunteers or Scholarship people to do this next year, and hopefully turn this into a scholarship fundraiser like the downtown show. We set out a donation jar and collected $112! My gratitude goes out to the people who helped with this, as I couldn't have done it alone. P.s., in my confused state of mind that night, I completely neglected to get a picture of the cars lined up on Liberty Lake Road. If you have a good shot, please email it to me at dickanddody@msn.com. Next year's show will be the Friday before the last Saturday in July and will be in the calendar of events. The show the next day went very well, with Susan Freund taking 1st with her orange 32 Ford roadster, Calvin Schertenlieb was 2nd with his 71 Chevy Nova, and Jona Budda was 3rd with that wildly customized lime green 57 Chevy. Jeff and Gwen Williams, of Suncrest Auto Parts, ran the valve cover races and furnished the trophies, of which I took 1st in the races and Best Of Show in the Peoples Choice. Thanks for your generosity. Photos & Article by: Dick Dodd Shakey’s Pizza Parlor Cruise Night Carol Siegenthaler of the Convertible Club sent me an e-mail on July 10, 2010. She said that she just talked to Nick from Shakey's Pizza on Division (in front of Shopko) that he would like to get a night for cars to come to his establishment. Larry & Marlene, and Pat & Carol were there a few weeks ago, and they have the best pizza ever (Great Pizza!!!!). Alot of the Dukes Club Members were there also. The Manager said he would like to have a cruise night on either Monday or Tuesday. Ted Davis and Carol picked Tuesday nights. around 6-ish. Carol also asked that we put the information in the next newsletter? Carol said she will also bring it up at the next meeting. – by: Carol Siegenthaler/Conv. Club – Here’s the information. Let’s get this cruise night working and have some fun and great pizza - Alan Stacey. Page-7 July 2010 -‘NUFF SAID ! This column will be dedicated to things you need to know, already knew, or couldn’t care less about. Submit items to dickanddody@msn.com. So you are pushing a fully-loaded grocery cart through Walmart’s parking lot, and your cell phone rings. With the phone in one hand, you try to maneuver the cart with the other hand, but don’t have enough arm strength to twist the cart to make the turns. You have two choices. Either put the phone away and use both hands on the cart handle, or go to the front end of the cart and push it backwards, which makes it really easy to steer. Makes you wonder why the cart manufacturer didn’t put the steering wheels at the back instead of the front. You’ve all seen those tools with a squeeze handle on one end and a pincer on the other end that are used for picking canned goods off a shelf or trash from alongside the highway. What we need is one that would have the capabilities to pluck a weed from your flower bed or strawberry patch without just breaking off the leaves. It would save a lot of bending over. The length of the handle would also give you the ability to sling that weed back into your neighbor’s yard where it came from! When you use a public restroom, there are toilets that automatically flush when you are done, water faucets that turn on when you put your hand under them, and paper towel machines that dispense a length of towel when you wave your hand. What we really need is a sensor that senses when some idiot pees on the toilet seat. It would shoot a Taser dart from the wall and light him up like a Christmas tree! With any luck at all, he'll still have ahold of his private parts when that 20,000 volts hit him. I drive from Spokane to Missoula twice a week. From the Montana line to Missoula is approx. 100 miles. In that stretch, there are 7 areas where the traffic is restricted for bridge repairs, most are 45-55 mph. Each restricted area is from 4 to 7 miles long. Total restricted area is 32 miles of the 100 mile total, yet the bridges being worked on only total approximate 1,750 feet! The work areas are 1/300% of the 100 miles, but the restricted area is 33%. What kind of idiocy is that? Once you cross into Idaho, their restricted areas are only long enough to get the job done. It seems that Montana could save a lot of money by not buying enough traffic cones to cover 32 miles when all they need are enough for maybe a mile. If you have a car that is a few years old and the wrap-around plastic headlights are cloudy or hazed over, you are losing a lot of light that isn't getting through the cloud to the road ahead. There is a polishing product made specifically for removing that haze, however, I just used a power buffer and a really fine finishing compound. I've tried this on three different cars and it worked every time. I didn't even have to remove the headlights. If you are using a power buffer, don't buff too long in one spot or the heat buildup will warp the plastic. Each headlight only takes about 10 minutes to do, but a Bud Light takes a little longer.
