As many turkeys, cornucopias and parades as you will see to help you not forget the Thanksgiving season, the best way to recall your blessings with a grateful heart is to read God’s Word. Isaiah 61:10 “I am overwhelmed with joy in the LORD my God! For he has dressed me with the clothing of salvation and draped me in a robe of righteousness.” 1 Thessalonians 5:18 “Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.” Psalm 118:24 “This is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.” Colossians 2:6-7 6 “And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow Him. 7 Let your roots grow down into Him, and let your lives be built on Him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.” Hebrews 12:28 “Since we are receiving a Kingdom that is unshakable, let us be thankful and please God by worshiping Him with holy fear and awe.” Do you have this joy? Do you have peace that the blessings He gives are all you need? Giving thanks to God can lighten the heaviest heart. He knows your troubles and He understands that we get stuck in “Why me?” mode. That’s why the Lord instructs us to give thanks—so our focus is taken off of ourselves and placed on the wonderful things God has done. So enjoy this season in a new way this November. Each time you are tempted to think of ways you don’t measure up or you don’t have what it is you think you need, consider just one thing for which you are grateful. Betcha can’t stop at just one! Giving God all the glory, Janine R. Andreasen, Director 1 You’re invited to CBC Preschool’s annual Thanksgiving Feast! Every year, we prepare a delicious meal for our Preschool families in celebration of our Lord’s wonderful blessings. We count each of YOU among our blessings, and are looking forward to spending this time with you. The Feast begins at 11. When you arrive, you may pick up your child and go together to the gym, go through the buffet line, and enjoy a meal together with other Preschool families and staff. We promise, you will not leave hungry! This year, we will prepare a less traditional meal of lasagna so you are not tired of turkey before your own Thanksgiving meals!! Please join us!!!! Caterpillars November is a month for celebrating all the wonderful things with which God has blessed us. We thank Him for His precious son, Jesus, who died for our sins and now sits at the right hand of the Father. We thank Him for all the provisions He provides us. We thank Him for family, friends, jobs, and everything else He blesses us with. We can finally thank Him for our new morning assistant, Mrs. Nicole. We are so happy to have her in our class. I know she will make a great asset to our Center. We say hello to Ada and Reagan this month. We also would like to welcome Lainey and our second little boy, Carter, both of whom joined us last month. We have a smorgasbord of ages in our class which keeps us busy trying to keep everyone challenged. I thank God for the strength and wisdom to continue to keep up with these little ones. We pray all our families have a wonderful and blessed Thanksgiving and enjoy the time they have with their families. In His Service, Mrs. Bernice, Mrs. Nicole, and Miss Abbie Butterflies Happy November!! We are excited to be learning about Thanksgiving this month! We’ll discuss how we set aside Thanksgiving as a day to remember the blessings the Lord has bestowed upon us, and about how we can thank Him for those blessings through prayer and singing. We will talk about the different foods we may see on the Thanksgiving table, as well as fall colors of orange and brown. We’ll also talk about our families, as they are our biggest blessings. Praise the Lord for giving us this special day in advance of His BIGGEST blessing—Jesus Christ!! Grateful for His Blessings, Mrs. Abigail and Miss Bethany 2 The Bumblebees: Exploring God’s World Bible Concept: Bible Verse: Objectives: Bible Stories: Jesus is my friend. “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.” Hebrews 13 1. To tell ways Jesus helped and was a friend to people in the Bible. 2. To act out ways of helping and being a friend to others. 3. To thank Jesus for being a friend and helper. Jesus Loves Children Woman at the Well Jesus loves Zacchaeus Jesus’ Prayer Bumblebees Can you believe it’s November already?!? Time is flying by! This month, we will be teaching the children the amazing truth that Jesus is our friend, and we can talk to Him through prayer. We will explore the Biblical accounts Jesus calling the children to Himself, the woman at the well, Zacchaeus, and the Lord’s Prayer. Also this month we will be working on the letters P, Q, R, S, and T. Our shape will be Triangle, and our color is green! In Christ, Mrs. Jessica W, Miss. Courtney, Miss Rebekah Crickets November is a time to be thankful! Thank you for allowing us to teach your beautiful children and for being wonderful parents!! We are teaching our little ones that Thanksgiving is not just about turkey, stuffing, and time away from school or work, but a time to be thankful for our families, churches, homes, friends, school, teachers, health, and most of all...thankful for our Lord, Jesus Christ who gave His life for us. What better way to praise Jesus than by giving thanks in prayer. Always In Christ, Ms. Sheila, Mrs. Sherry, and Miss Nikki Grasshoppers Happy Fall, Y'all! I know the song says the Christmas season is "The Most Wonderful Time of the Year", but Fall is my favorite and its just as good—if not better! If you haven't noticed yet, the weather is getting cooler, so PLEASE make sure your child has a change of weather-appropriate clothes. We do have some fun Fall things planned for November, however, we will spend a lot of time learning what Thanksgiving is all about. Although we definitely enjoy it, Thanksgiving is not all about the food and time spent with family, but truly being thankful for what God has blessed us with. We will be having a "Thanksgiving Feast" on Wednesday, November 25th. The Feast will be held in the gym, and parents are encouraged to come enjoy! Hope to see you all there! We are enjoying teaching your children in the Grasshopper class this year! In Christ, Mrs. Meganne & Mrs. Haley 3 Fireflies We hope you and your family have a blessed and wonderful Thanksgiving! We would love it if you and your family could join us on Wednesday, November 24, 2015 at 11:00 am for a Thanksgiving feast. This month, we are concentrating with the children on spelling and recognizing their printed names. If you could work with them on this at home would be great. We have had the best time getting to know these great and wonderful children. Thank you so much for trusting us with your most precious little ones. Serving Him, Ms. Vicki and Miss Cammi Dragonflies It has been such a delight these past months to watch our children grow more confident and more independent. The preschool years are a time of remarkable development, and one in which learning styles can be recognized. In September, our focus was on getting acquainted and easing into a new routine. Once the children and staff were “settled in”, October was filled with special activities and fun! Now our focus turns to Thanksgiving—giving thanks to God for all He has done for us. Our Bible lessons this month will focus on Elijah at Mount Carmel, Naaman and the Servant Girl, and Lions Cannot Hurt Daniel. We will also talk about the First Thanksgiving. Loving His Children, Mrs. Stacey, Mrs. Krystal, and Miss Hannah Turtles Happy Thanksgiving to all our Turtles and their families. This month we will be working on the following Bible stories: Elisha, Naaman, Daniel, Queen Esther, and Jonah. Our Bible verses for this month include Proverbs 23:26, Isaiah 6:3, Luke 11:28, Isaiah 55:6, John 3:16, Matthew 11:28, Psalm 34:14, and James 1:17. Our new letters are Mm, Hh, Ss, Cc, and Dd. We are continuing our blend ladders. The week of Thanksgiving, we are going to focus on “Being Thankful”. We will also enjoy our annual Center-wide Thanksgiving Feast on Wednesday, November 25th at 11am in the gym, and we hope you can join us. We pray this will be a blessed Thanksgiving season for all of our families. In Christ, Ms. Laura, Mrs. Heather, Miss Morgan A huge, heartfelt thank you to all the Veterans in our Preschool Family! CBC Preschool will be closed in observance of Thanksgiving on Thursday and Friday 11/26-11/27. Enjoy this time with your family and friends and be safe. Also, our class Christmas party will be on Friday, December 18th at 2:30pm. We will have a sign-up sheet for items you can bring. School will be closed for Christmas the week of December 21st and also closed for New Year's Day on Friday, January 1, 2016. I can’t believe we’re already planning for Thanksgiving and Christmas...how quickly this year has gone by! We have so many things to be thankful for—our families, friends, shelter, protection, provision, stuff...the list could go on and on. Do we ever think about Who gives all of these things? Do we only thank Him for the stuff, the blessings? In this season of Thanksgiving, let's thank the One and ONLY true God for His mercy and grace to us, for the death and resurrection of His Son Jesus Christ, without whom we would be lost forever. Let's thank God for His great love for us, that He made a way for us to spend eternity with Him. We are thankful we get to share these truths with your children on a daily basis. We pray they will all come to know Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and Lord and serve Him all of their days. "Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift." 2 Corinthians 9:15 In His Loving Mercy, Mrs. Kathy, Mrs. Cheri, and Miss Kayla School Age Program We cannot believe October flew by so FAST, and November is now upon us!! Or is it the flu? Source: www.kidshealth.org Although the flu usually causes symptoms that make someone feel worse than symptoms associated with a common cold, it's not always easy to tell the difference between the two. The following chart can help determine whether a child is fighting the flu or combating a cold. If most of your answers fall into the first column, your child probably has the flu. If most of your answers Question Flu Cold are in the second column, it's probably a cold. Was the onset of illness… sudden slow But don't be too quick to brush off your child's Does your child have a… high fever No/mild fever illness as just another cold. The important thing to Is your child's exhaustion level… severe mild remember is that flu symptoms can vary from child Is your child's head… achy headache free to child, and can change as the illness progresses, so Is your child's appetite… decreased normal if you suspect the flu, call the doctor. Even doctors Are your child's muscles… achy fine often need a test to tell for sure if a person has the Does your child have… chills no chills flu, since the symptoms can be so similar! Some bacterial diseases, like strep throat or pneumonia, can also look like the flu or a cold. It's important to get medical attention immediately if your child seems to be getting worse, is having any trouble breathing, has a high fever, a bad headache, a sore throat, or seems confused. While even healthy kids can have complications of the flu, kids with certain medical conditions are more at risk. If you think your kid might have the flu, contact your doctor. Some kids with chronic medical conditions may become sicker with the flu and need to be hospitalized, and flu in an infant can be dangerous. For severely ill kids or those with other special circumstances, doctors may prescribe an antiviral medicine that can ease flu symptoms, but only if it's given within 48 hours of the onset of the flu. Most of the time, you can care for your child by offering plenty of fluids, rest, and extra comfort. What about my baby? Is it the same as for my big kid? Source: www.babycenter.com It can be hard to distinguish between a cold—which can make your baby miserable but isn't dangerous— and a more serious illness, like the flu. Babies with the flu usually have some of these symptoms: fever, chills, hacking cough, sore throat, runny nose, body aches, and fatigue. Vomiting and diarrhea are unusual, but they can happen. Babies can get very ill very fast, so call 911 if you notice fast or difficult breathing, dehydration, not waking up or interacting, persistent vomiting, or other severe symptoms. Babies with a cold typically have lower fever (if any), a runny nose, and minor coughing. Parents often look first at whether their child has a fever, but unless a fever is high or lasts longer than three days, or if the baby is younger than 3 months, fever doesn't tell the doctor much. Instead, doctors focus on the following three things: How is your child ACTING? A very sleepy or very irritable baby needs to be examined. We expect small children to be sleepy and irritable when they feel sick. Everyone is! But if your child can't stay awake or won't stop crying when comforted, it's cause for concern—and it calls for a trip to the doctor. How is your child BREATHING? Look for irregular, labored, or rapid breathing. Check to see whether the triangular shape between your baby's ribs caves in when she breathes. If you can see the ribs, and if the chest seems to pull in when she's breathing in and out, call your doctor. Also call if you hear whistling or crackly sounds when she breathes. Use a clock with a second hand and count how many breaths your baby takes in 10 seconds. Multiply that number by six so you can tell your doctor how many breaths she's taking per minute. Call 911 if your baby is taking more than 60 breaths per minute or turning blue around the mouth. How is your child DRINKING? Although children don't have to eat when they're ill, drinking fluids is a must to avoid dehydration. In a 24-hour period, a young child needs about 1½ounces of liquid per pound of body weight. For example, a 10-pound baby needs about 15 ounces of liquid per day, and a 20-pound child needs about 30. If your baby refuses to drink or nurse (or can't keep liquid down) for several hours, call your doctor. 7 Central Baptist Preschool November 2015 Menu Milk is served with lunch.
