Introduction to MarketWare 10 About this Manual The purpose of the MarketWare User Manual is to show you how to use each feature most effectively. In addition to showing you how to use MarketWare, this will show recommendations and best practices for the database. This manual will teach you how to get the most out of this powerful tool! The NEW MarketWare Desktop This introduction will show you in detail the MarketWare desktop. The MarketWare desktop is composed of three separate areas. Figure 1. MarketWare Desktop The Menu Ribbon At the top is the Menu Ribbon. It uses the same style as Microsoft Office 2007. The Menu Ribbon is broken down into different tabs. The first tab is the Home Tab, where you will spend most of your time while using the program. There is also the Document Tab, the Tools Tab, the Reports Tab, and the Help Tab. Home Menu The Home Menu is predominately used to search, navigate, or list various contacts and groups you have in the system. Here, you can search for specific physicians, providers, or other contacts. You can also generate lists based on predefined rules you have established. Document Menu The Document Menu contains activities that allow you to communicate with providers. Send e-mails; generate form letters, or perform mail-merge type activities. Tools Menu The Tools Menu allows you to access wizards, perform management tasks, modify user preferences, or make changes to the database. Reports Menu The Reports Menu activates predefined reports available on the drop-down list. Also, access the report designer, or open the individual reports. Help Menu On the Help Menu access the User Manual though clicking the Contents button or view other training videos by clicking the Teach Me button. Also join a web meeting where a technical support person will assist you. Navigation Pane On the left-hand side is the Navigation Pane. Through the navigation pane you can switch to different views within the program. Views Each View in MarketWare can be accessed from the Navigation Pane. When switching from View to View, the main window in MarketWare will switch to display information relevant to the View you selected. The Database View - The predominant view (where you will probably spend most of your time) is the Database View. The List View - The List View contains results from searches and Lists. You can re-run recent searches and Lists by clicking on them on the Navigation Pane. Though the List View you can quickly navigate to any provider within the database. Simply click on the View link next to the provider/group you are interested in. The Today View - The Today View gives you a complete view of all the critical things you need to do today. The Calendar View - The Calendar View allows you to schedule appointments, follow up, and schedule alarms for yourself. The Task View - Through Task View you can schedule specific tasks with or without having a specific date and a time required - versus the calendar view. The History View - The History View provides detailed listing of every interaction and you have recorded with providers. The File Cabinet - The File Cabinet View is used to store documents or files, and attached them to specific records. The advantage of placing a document in a file cabinet is twofold. 1. You can share this document with other MarketWare users. 2. It gives you a simple place to remember where you placed the documents by associating the document with a person’s record. The Split View This feature allows you to split the Main Window into two parts—based on whichever two views you would like to see simultaneously. To split the view: 1. Go to the Menu Ribbon and select the Split View button. 2. On the Split View button, you will see which views are possible to split. For example: If you want to see the History View the same time you want to see the Database View. Select the History View from the split view drop-down menu and the system will display the History View along with the database View simultaneously. You can use the dark blue line separator to move the view up or down—depending on how much of each view you want to see at one time. You may also switch views by collapsing one view and selecting another. For example, if you want to see the List View, you collapse the History View and click on the List View. With the Split View, you can mix and match any combination of views. To return to a single view mode, all you have to do is determine which view you wish to collapse. Go to the Collapse menu button, and select the view to close. In this case, you want to close the List View. Select it. You will be able returned to full screen mode for the Database View.
