The end of the road is no reason for your transport to come to a standstill: With the pressure resulting from continually increasing costs and distances, it is particularly important for farmers and private contractors to have fast and efficient transport solutions. When alternating between field and farm, roads and silos, the Unimog is really able to demonstrate its abilities: safe off-road driving, easy-going on the soil, fast and safe on the road – all combined with a large payload and high tractive power. The Unimog is capable of completing complex operations with very moderate fuel consumption. That means you get more use for lower costs per kilometre. Economic efficiency that pays. 4 Cost-effectiveness is the key word when the Unimog is used for agricultural operations – whether for running equipment or transporting loads. With up to 40 tonnes overall haulage weight and thanks to its high payload and handling qualities, the Unimog is able to deal with large capacities and heavy loads both fast and effectively. Due to its short chassis, it is able to make optimal use of the maximum transport length of 18.75 m (61.5 ft.) allowed in the EU – either with several axles or even with two trailers. Front- and rear-mounted implements can also be attached and removed very quickly so that the Unimog is always ready and waiting for a whole range of jobs that may need doing. Your advantages at a glance Low-curb weight, high payload up to 8 t and great load capacity of up to 10 m3 with the Unimog platform body Up to 40 t overall haulage weight with high tractive power and driving stability on fields and roads Transport speeds of up to 90 km/h (56.5 mph) suitable for motorway use Lower fuel consumption Infinitely variable working speeds possible from 0-25 km/h (15.6 mph) with hydrostatic drive High tractive power on both fields and roads with the central tyre inflation system and coarsely studded single tyres Optimal vision and very safe driving with modern panoramic cab The Unimog. The cost-effective transport solution. 5 Economic efficiency and the environment. Working economically and acting responsibly for the future. The Unimog has undisputed advantages when used for agricultural transport operations over both field and road. The advantages of the Unimog system make it versatile, economical to run and efficient, and with its Euro 5 engines it meets the high emission standards for commercial vehicles. It is a safe investment for the future of your fleet as it incorporates all the reliability and durability of a Mercedes-Benz. Advantages when doing field work. Economical and environmentally friendly. The 4-wheel drive chassis concept is easy on the soil with its single tyres and central tyre inflation system Finely adjusted gears or infinitely variable hydrostatic drive for perfectly adjusted speeds Agile due to its compact dimensions High ground clearance Good traction Power lift and front and rear PTOs available 6 Environmentally compatible and providing for the future by meeting Euro 5 standards with BlueTec Technology High economic efficiency as it can take over various municipal jobs all year round Advantages when transporting goods by road. Land & Forest Brochure 49/10) High transport speeds of up to 90 km/h, also on motorways and dual carriageways Low lifecycle costs (long maintenance intervals, low tyre costs) Economic efficiency and the environment. 7 System and implement-carrying expertise. Carry on working when others have to stand still. Work efficiently and comfortably all year round. Unimog makes it possible. Its implement-carrying concept was developed so that you are able to complete your operations economically, powerfully and efficiently – whether it is for fast transport jobs or for especially economical year-round operations such as mowing, clearing snow or cleaning. One system – many possibilities. It is always high season for the Unimog even when it is not being used for transport jobs. With up to four attachment and mounting points it is ready and waiting for each and every kind of job. The quickchange systems with their colour-coded hydraulic connections ensure a fast exchange of many implements – ideal for a flexible work schedule. The Unimog implement-carrying concept means that it can be used just as easily at peak harvest times as for rural conservation or municipal winter services. Quite simply, it pays to have a Unimog – for all 365 days of the year. Rear and front power take off. PTOs at the front and rear are provided for driving implements mechanically. Implements requiring a great deal of power up to 150 kW can be run off the front PTO with a load switch which is driven directly by the engine. An optional rear PTO with up to 120 kW continuous output and two PTO speeds (540 and 1,000 revs/min) is also available. Another attractive feature: the height-adjustable trailer coupling with an 80 mm tow coupling head and the rear power lift with up to 5 t lifting power. We have a range of other auxiliary drives for you to choose from for operating other mechanical implements while stationary. Operational and power hydraulic. The Unimog has a single or dual circuit hydraulic system for driving and handling implements in the lower and medium performance range – easily controlled by joystick with one hand. And for the upper performance range, there is the high performance hydraulic system VarioPower with circuits III and IV. Infinitely variable. The hydrostatic transmission drive allows for an infinitely variable adjustment of the working speed between 0 and 25 km/h (15.6 mph) with a constant engine speed and it can be easily controlled either by the accelerator or manually. This makes driving easier and the driver can better concentrate on his work. Simply select the driving or working mode by pressing the button. 8 Your advantages at a glance Extremely versatile with up to four attachment and mounting points Front and rear PTOs, powerful and with mechanical drives Standard dumper body as additional load area Hydrostatic drive for infinitely variable working and crawling speeds between 0 and 25 km/h (15.6 mph) Working and high-performance hydraulics for every power requirement from 24 to 287 l/min and up to 300 bar The Unimog with a round baler and wrapper The Unimog fitted with a spreader The Unimog harrowing stubble with a 6 metre short disc harrow Mowing as part of year-round municipal services In winter fitted with a snowplough and gritter System and implement-carrying expertise. 9 Chassis expertise. Arrive fast and safely. Whether on the field or on the road, with the Unimog you get where you want to go without making any detours. This is due to a chassis concept that is not supplied by any other manufacturer worldwide. Unusually high ground clearance, very good angles of approach and departure, great stability when not moving as well as excellent traction and speeds of up to 90 km/h (56.5 mph) on paved roads. Outstanding handling. The Unimog leaves no room for doubt with its outstanding off-road capabilities and remarkable degree of comfort. Its high payload and excellent driving stability also allow larger and heavier mounted implements such as fertilizer spreaders or her-bicide/pesticide sprayers with a boom length of up to 36 m (118 ft.). Portal axles provide as much ground clearance as possible, and the great axle articulation using coil springs makes sure that all four wheels are in continual contactwith the 10 ground. Should the terrain get really difficult, locking differentials in both axles make sure full power is available. Four-wheel drive and single tyres. Four wheels of equal size support the Unimog’s excellent running features and high traction. The four-wheel drive combines with the multipass effect of the rear wheels running in the front wheel tracks to provide improved traction. That means there is less slip, a better performance-area ratio, and lower fuel costs per acre/hectare. The central tyre inflation system is easy on the soil and saves on tyres and fuel. Just press the button, and tire control, the central tyre inflation system, lets the driver lower the tyre pressure for just one or both axles while driving and without leaving his driving seat. This means the Unimog is less likely to sink into soft ground so that it can use its full tractive power even on soft terrain. When stationary, the lowered pressure prevents field damage due to soil compression. Once on the road, however, wear on the tyres, fuel consumption and sound levels are decreased with a higher tyre pressure. Your advantages at a glance Four-wheel drive provides excellent traction and high tractive power even off-road Central tyre inflation system (optional) prevents field damage; lowers fuel consumption and wear during operation Wheel synchronisation with no leading of the front axle Large high ground clearance due to portal axles Extremely good driving stability due to low centre of gravity and even axle load distribution Driving comfort plus – due to fully sprung chassis Chassis expertise. 11 Easy to operate and ergonomics. The operator in the spotlight. Outstanding visibility of surroundings and mounting points, high safety standards and clearly arranged control elements. The Unimog’s panoramic cab has everything the driver needs to make his working day ergonomic, comfortable and safe. Generous headroom and space to move, high standards of soundproofing and insulation, standard air-conditioning, an integrated parking heater as well as easy-to-operate controls. All of these features help to combat driver fatigue. Easy changing with Telligent. The Unimog provides just the right speed for every operation with its easy-to-switch electro-pneumatic transmission. When driving on roads, you can save fuel by being in the right gear. The forward/ back Electronic Quick Reverse (EQR) system helps you to change direction quickly. The working gears (8/8) extend the speed range to provide the right gear for the job and increase tractive power. With the crawler gears (8/8), the Unimog can use extremely slow rates of feed down to less than 100 m/h (328 ft/h). Retaining the overview in the cab. The quick-change steering VarioPilot® (optional) means you can sit where you can see best. The steering column can be moved manually from left to right so that you always retain a complete overview of your working area. 12 Easy to operate and ergonomics. Your advantages at a glance ABS and ALB standard Large-dimensioned disc brakes on all four wheels Greater safety for passengers with three-point seat belts and ECE-R-29-2-tested driving cab E xtremely easy-to-operate gear shifting by selectable manual or automatic transmission Optimal visibility through quick-change steering and panoramic cab Driver support through well-thought-out controls and feature design Equipped with Safety. The Unimog. Working safely day after day. The Unimog also sets standards with its active and passive safety concept: a safety concept that is geared to avoiding accidents altogether and to minimising the results should an accident actually happen. A whole range of modern safety systems provides a high rate of accident prevention for the driver and all other road users, making the Unimog a very safe option for municipal use. Better view, more safety. With its short implement dimensions in front and wide field of vision, the Unimog makes sure that the driver is aware of critical situations in good time. Short implement dimensions are to be understood as the distance between the front edge of the attached implement and the centre of the steering wheel in the vehicle. In combination with those front-attached implements certified by Mercedes-Benz, the Unimog is below the legal limit of 3.5 m. The position of the front seats combined with the very large windows in the panoramic cab ensure the driver has a good overall view of his working area. Control is better. Directional stability and controlled braking are decisive safety factors – especially on wet, snow-covered or icy roads. Here the Unimog gives a very convincing performance. With its well-balanced axle load distribution it can keep its directional stability even if there is a risk of skidding. Thanks to its standard ABS, during emergency braking the Unimog can still be steered and come to a precise stop despite varying surface conditions. The easy-to-use snow chains or the alternative use of rotating chains make driving under hazardous conditions much safer for the driver. On the safe side with the Unimog. A relaxed driver can concentrate better, and that means greater safety. The driver’s place in the Unimog has therefore been designed with particularly low vibrations: a fully spring-cushioned chassis, a four-point sprung-mounted cab and an air-sprung driving seat keep the vibration strain low. As work vehicles run a relatively high risk of rear-end collisions because of their low working speed, the Unimog also has very effective impact protection. Should an accident actually occur, the ballast weight and the sturdy frame of the vehicle with its platform body make sure that the impact is absorbed and greatly reduced before reaching the driver’s seat. Three-point safety belts and headrests also provide additional protection. Further information can be found online at: www.mercedes-benz.com/unimog-safety Equipped with Safety.
