New and changed in version 4.2 in comparison with 4.1 Tacx Trainer software New and changed in version 4.2 in comparison with 4.1 The Tacx Trainer software 4.2 has been modified in comparison with version 4.1 in order to increase its user-friendliness. Changes have been made to: Wizards Google Virtual Reality Wizards When you start up the software for the first time after installing, you will instantly see a wizard which will lead you through the startup process step by step. Startup wizard When you start up the Tacx Trainer software for the first time, the Startup wizard will take you by the hand. In this wizard you can find important information, activate your license, create or download a user and connect your Tacx trainer. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Choose the language at the bottom left. Read the welcome text and click Next. Read the license agreement and accept the agreement by clicking Next. Activate your license by following the steps and click Next. In the next screen you can create a new user. When you have already created a user in the Tacx database, you only have to download your user through Download user. A new user can be created through Create new user. Follow the steps; required fields are highlighted in red. After completing you click Next. 6. Select your trainer’s type of interface and click Next. 7. When you have a wireless trainer (i-Genius Multiplayer, i-Genius, i-Vortex or i-Bushido), follow the steps for connecting the interface and brake. When the interface and brake have been connected, click Next. 8. Calibrate the brake (only possible for i-Genius, i-Flow, i-Magic and Fortius) by following the steps. A higher calibration value indicates that the tyre is positioned tighter to the roller. September 2012 New and changed in version 4.2 in comparison with 4.1 9. When you have a steering frame and/or heart rate belt, select it and click Next. 10. The new intro screen of the Tacx Trainer software appears. The new intro screen To increase the user-friendliness, the intro screen has been redesigned. Through the intro screen you can reach all functions of the Tacx Trainer software 4. Through the vertical menu at the left hand side you can start the training functions. In the upper horizontal menu you find important function buttons such as Training, Import/Export, Extras, Settings and Help. Below are the tabs for news articles: News by Tacx, Tacx Workshop and Software News. New articles (or software updates) are marked with a red dot containing a number. At the right hand side the current user, avatar and connected trainers and devices are displayed, in a more accessible way than in version 4.1. Current user By clicking the name of the user you can change the user info. Above the user icon you can log out through Log out. Avatar By clicking Avatar you can change your virtual rider. You can choose from three racing bicycles and three mountain bikes. Also available are several team shirts, which are visible in the virtual world and the Google Earth terrains. For GPS Rides it is recommended to choose clear shirt colours, in order for opponents to be easily identifiable during races. The outfits are now divided into categories: Team, Special, Countries and Templates. September 2012 New and changed in version 4.2 in comparison with 4.1 The function buttons under Settings in the menu Device wizard In the Device wizard you change the trainer type as follows: 1. Select the interface that corresponds with your trainer and click Next. 2. Follow the steps to connect the trainer and devices with the software as previously described and click Next. User profile Through Settings> User profile you will reach the Configuration manager. In this wizard you can change all previously mentioned settings. When you have completed your settings, click the Finish button at the bottom right. General settings In this screen you can change the general settings. Finish with Next or Finish. September 2012 New and changed in version 4.2 in comparison with 4.1 GPS Rides The Tacx Trainer software 4.2 contains an elaborate version of GPS Rides. From now on you can train with Google Maps and Google Earth. It is also possible to ride with Google Street View. To use these features you need a Google license valid for 1 year. Activate Google license When you click GPS Rides, you will be asked to register your personal license (Register) or you can buy a license through Purchase license code. By clicking the picture you can watch a video about the possibilities of GPS Rides. License wizard Click Register and activate your personal Google Earth license. 1. Under license code, enter the code that is put on the inside of the Google License package, or that we have sent you by e-mail. Make sure you correctly enter capital and lower case letters. 2. Enter your name and e-mail address. 3. Click Next and the activation process will be started. 4. When activation is completed, click End and you can immediately start training. September 2012 New and changed in version 4.2 in comparison with 4.1 Training functions Through the Google settings (Settings> Settings> Maps) you can choose to have your route displayed in Google Maps or Google Earth. Google Maps shows the route on a map, whereas Google Earth can also show a realistic altitude profile. When Google Street View is switched on, you will see moving pictures to show you where you are at that exact moment during the ride. Route planner Through Training> New training> GPS Rides you can create a new training ride. This is made easier in version 4.2. You can now work with a route planner, making it less complicated to create a route. You will ride on real roads and you won’t have to click out the route manually anymore. How does it work? 1. Determine the starting place by entering the place name in the field Starting location. 2. Determine the finish place by entering the place name in the field Finish location. 3. Click Show route. 4. The route is displayed. If OK, enter a name for the training ride in the field Program name and click Save. Start training It is now easier to start a training ride. Select the type of training (Catalyst, Tacx Films, GPS Rides or Virtual Reality) and you will see that from this version 4.2 on all training settings are united on one screen. When you have stopped a training ride and you select the same course again, the software will ask you whether or not you want to restart from the last position. Latest Rides In the Tacx Trainer software 4.2 the lay-out of the startup screens is also renewed. Under Latest Rides you will immediately notice that the filter has been changed. Icons are now used for filtering your type of training. Under the recent training list you find tabs with which you can find more information about the training rides. Catalyst Apart from the new training rides by the Tacx Coach you can also create training rides yourself (through Training> New training > Catalyst). 1. Select the desired Training type at the left hand side. 2. Select the desired training program from the list next to Training type. 3. If so desired, click Settings to set the PowerMode. Select the desired Course at the right hand side. Through the Altitude tab you can see the altitude profile of the selected course. Through the Video tab you can check if the right pad has been selected. When the video isn’t found, click Search and select the corresponding video. 5. Through the Route tab you can see the route in GPS in Google. 6. Through the Opponents button you can select your opponents, if so desired. 7. If so desired, click Settings to set the PowerMode. Virtual Reality Training type Training 1. Select the desired training type at the left hand side. 2. Select the desired terrain at the right hand side and click Next. 3. Select the course of your choice. 4. If so desired, click Settings to set the PowerMode and wind settings. Training type Lap training 1. Select the desired training type at the left hand side. 2. Select the desired terrain at the right hand side. 3. Click Settings at the bottom right to set the number of laps, the wind force and the weather type. For the Velodrome terrain you can also choose the Six-Day race terrain setting (with typical Six-Day atmosphere). September 2012 New and changed in version 4.2 in comparison with 4.1 For Genius users Genius users can check out their cadence power distribution while cycling. The bar below shows which leg generates more power. A purple bar deviating to one side means that this leg generates more power. September 2012
