• On the upstroke of the piston the paint in the upper paint
chamber is compressed (pressurized). After the coating is
under pressure it is discharged through the hose to the gun
and forced through the tip.
• Upper ball is forced against the upper seat.
• Creating a vacuum pulling the inlet ball off the inlet seat
pulling paint into the lower paint chamber.

Downstroke
• As the piston moves down, the inlet ball is forced against the
inlet seat and the outlet ball is lifted off the outlet seat.
• Coating in the lower paint chamber is forced through the piston
rod into the upper paint chamber.
• Because the upper paint chamber is only half the size of the
lower paint chamber, pressurized paint is again discharged
through the hose, gun and a tip.
• Dual acting piston – pumping paint on both the upstroke
and downstroke.

Why are static packings superior?

Fixed packing designed fluid
sections have fewer wear
surfaces. The piston travels
through the packings –
therefore there are only 2
wear surfaces. The
packings and piston are the
only things that wear. The
packings and piston are
less expensive to maintain
and repair.
With dynamic packing
designs, the upper packings
are stationary and the lower
packings are dynamic (they
move) located on the
pistons. This design has 4
separate wearing surfaces
the piston, the cylinder, and
both the upper and lower
packings. More wear
surfaces means more parts

The EPX2355 is the answer for the individual painter. The pump features
electronic pressure control for low pressure spray while minimizing any
fluctuation in spray pattern. Powered by our 1.7 hp PMDC Motor, it delivers quiet,
safe operation with the power and durability for day-to-day use. It’s an ideal
choice for residential to light commercial work.
The EPX2455 features state-of-the-art technology at an affordable price.
Features include electronic pressure control, large porting for high flow and

The EPX2555 is a 1.15 GPM, two-gun, high production unit offering the
painter the finest in technology coupled with the reliability we demand –
all for a price you’ll like. The pump features a motor that is warranted for
100,000 gallons, keeping you at the jobsite instead of the repair shop.
The EPX2555 is designed for residential, commercial and industrial
applications and sprays stain, enamels, latex, dry fall, elastomerics and

The GPX1250 is a production sprayer capable of supporting large tips and multiple
guns on big jobs. A powerful 5.5hp Honda engine provides plenty of power for
spraying most heavy architectural coatings, block fillers and epoxies.
The GPX1600 delivers the highest output in the GPX line. At 1.6 GPM, and 3300 psi
this pump supports up to four guns for high production spraying. The GPX1600

• When a painter finds it necessary to work
farther away from the source of electric power,
it is generally better to add hose rather than
extension cords. This may save wear and tear
on the pump’s motor from low current or
inadequate power source.
Choosing the Right Sprayer
Sprayer Recommendations
When deciding on the purchase of equipment, take several
things into consideration:
• What types of coatings do you typically apply?
• What tip sizes do your coatings require?
• How many gallons do you spray per week?
• What types of jobs do you usually do: residential (new or
re-work), commercial, maintenance, industrial coatings.
• Available power (gas, electric, air-operated).
• Size of your crew (relative to how many different people
will use the sprayer).
• How many guns do you want to use with the sprayer?
• Typical length of hose used at the job site.
• Who cleans and maintains the pump?
As a general rule of thumb, after evaluating these items and
your business, it is best to purchase one level above current
needs. This allows your business to grow through the
bidding, taking of either larger or more complex jobs –
with better investments in equipment.

Electrostatic
Electrostatic systems for use with SprayTECH pumps
help you take on challenging steel and other metal
applications that otherwise are too costly and
labor-intensive to bid competitively.
The electrostatic advantage is the “wrap around” effect
that reduces material consumption and makes it
unnecessary to spray from all sides. Atomized paint
particles are electrically charged at the tip, travel in
an electrostatic field, and form an even coating on
the grounded object.
Typical electrostatic applications include:
structural steel, metal doors, metal stairways,
duct work, metal fences, vaults, corrugated metal
buildings, office furniture, chain link fences, plant
equipment, elevators and jail cells.

Air pressure is determined by the number of stages
within the turbine (air source). The more stages, the
more pressure. The more the pressure, the better the
atomization which means a wider range of coatings
can be sprayed. The CS9100 is a four-stage turbine
providing 8.5 psi. Typically, three-stage turbines
produce 6 psi and two-stage turbines generate 5 psi.
