View Sample Report - National Vehicle Certification Program
THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN INSPECTED AND CERTIFIED UNDER THE NATIONAL VEHICLE CERTIFICATION PROGRAM (“NVCP”). NVCP Gold Certification Plan Highlights We started the certification process by running a CARFAX™ Vehicle History Report®. This ensures that this vehicle does not have a “Branded Title”. That is, we checked to see whether the vehicle to be certified had any reported documentation to indicate that the vehicle was junk or salvaged, dismantled, rebuilt or reconstructed, flood damaged, fire damaged, hail damaged, bought back by its manufacturer (Lemon Law), odometer exceeds mechanical limits, odometer is not actual mileage, or any other similar “Brand.” If the vehicle was found to have a “Branded Title”, it would not have qualified for the NVCP Gold Certification. Next a trained technician drew an engine oil sample and a transmission fluid sample* to be analyzed with state-of-the-art fluid analysis technology. The On-Site Analysis MotorCheck™ Oil Analyzer allows us to provide information about the quality and condition of the internally lubricated components of the engine and transmission. This information cannot be obtained through a visual inspection. In fact, an ASE Certified master mechanic could completely dismantle an engine or transmission, thoroughly inspect the internally lubricated components and still not be able to determine possible impending issues that we can see through the science of oil analysis. This technology has been used extensively in other industries for decades as a predictive maintenance tool to "look inside" a lubricated component to get a “snap shot” of the current condition of that component. There is no other credible way to gauge the internal condition of an engine or transmission in a pre-owned automobile. Finally, a trained professional in the auto inspection and repair industry performed a thorough visual inspection that included over 270 inspection points! The Gold Certification inspection is extensive and can only be performed in a well-equipped auto repair facility. We raised the vehicle on a lift to inspect the undercarriage as well as the suspension, exhaust, driveline, brake system, and many other components that cannot be inspected while the vehicle is on the ground. Our technician also removed the wheels to inspect certain brake components. As part of the inspection process, the technician also test drove the vehicle and took a number of digital photos of the vehicle, both inside and out. These are included as part of the reports portfolio that comes with every NVCP Gold Certification. Your NVCP Certified vehicle also includes a 3 month/3,000 mile Limited Warranty** for the engine and transmission. This warranty will be automatically registered for your convenience. The warranty documentation is included as part of the reports portfolio. The Gold Certified Reports Portfolio on the following pages will include: Complete CARFAX Vehicle History Report Fluid Analysis Report A Summary Inspection Report A Detailed Inspection Report Digital Photographs 3 Month/3,000 Mile Limited Warranty You can rest assured that this vehicle has undergone a comprehensive process to ensure quality and condition; protecting both the buyer and seller of this pre-owned automobile! *Does not apply to vehicles with a sealed transmission or those with a manual transmission. Glossary View Full Glossary First Owner When the first owner(s) obtains a title from a Department of Motor Vehicles as proof of ownership. Ownership History CARFAX defines an owner as an individual or business that possesses and uses a vehicle. Not all title transactions represent changes in ownership. To provide estimated number of owners, CARFAX proprietary technology analyzes all the events in a vehicle history. Estimated ownership is available for vehicles manufactured after 1994 and titled solely in the US including Puerto Rico. Dealers sometimes opt to take ownership of a vehicle and are required to in the following states: Maine, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania and South Dakota. Please consider this as you review a vehicle's estimated ownership history. Lease When someone leases a car from a dealer, the dealer actually sells the vehicle to a leasing company. The leasing company then collects payments for the vehicle from the new owner for 24, 36, 48 or more months. A leasing company can be an independent car dealer or a car manufacturer. New Owner Reported When a vehicle is sold to a new owner, the Title must be transferred to the new owner(s) at a Department of Motor Vehicles. Title Issued A state issues a title to provide a vehicle owner with proof of ownership. Each title has a unique number. Each title or registration record on a CARFAX report does not necessarily indicate a change in ownership. In Canada, a registration and bill of sale are used as proof of ownership. CARFAX History Impact™ Accidents, service records, number of owners and many other history factors can impact a vehicle's value. The CARFAX History Impact is a tool that analyzes millions of used car transactions to measure how the combination of all the information reported to CARFAX impacts the value of a particular vehicle. The vehicle's retail book value plus the CARFAX History Impact will give you a more accurate measure of the vehicle's value. Use this tool, along with a vehicle inspection and test drive, to make a better decision about your next used car. CARFAX DEPENDS ON ITS SOURCES FOR THE ACCURACY AND RELIABILITY OF ITS INFORMATION. Explanations Oil Condition The useful life of oil has reached its end due to the presence of wear metal contamination. This may be caused by incoming dirt, overheating, poor lubrication or just going too long between oil drain intervals (causing carbon and sludge build-up.) On new or recently rebuilt engines, it is normal for break-in material to be found.
