Jesus transfigured on Mount Tabor energizes even the sleepy apostles, who see but cannot get hold of it. They can be forgiven for not comprehending the full meaning of this extraordinary vision of a transfigured Jesus with Elijah and Moses. The whole of the Law and prophets is summed up here on this mountain. The transfiguration on Mount Tabor is handed over to us this Sunday. As Paul reminds us, it is we who are to be transformed. The light and life of the Resurrection are set forth here so we do not lose heart and fall entirely asleep. This Sunday looks to Easter. It looks to transformation. It asks us to lift up our heads and acknowledge the risen Lord as our light and our salvation. ————Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co. LIFE TEEN/EDGE CAR RAFFLE It’s that time of year again for our Life Teen/EDGE Spring car raffle! Mark your calendars to attend Friday, April 29th, 2016 in the Community Center. Details are being finalized. Rick Foley of Turan Foley Chevrolet-CadillacBuick and Foley RV Center has graciously donated a 2016 Chevy Malibu for this year’s event. It’s a beautiful car – come check it out! It’s parked next to the Parish Office entrance behind the church. Tickets will be available soon at the back of the church, at the school and in the church office. They will also be mailed upon request. Money and ticket stubs can be turned in in weekly collections or dropped off at the church office before April 29th. Tickets will also be sold after mass times close to the date of the event. “Come and Go Dinner” – Dinner will be served starting at 6:00 pm and drawing for the car is at 8:00 pm. Each ticket price will include one spaghetti dinner including salad, bread, dessert and tea/coffee and a chance for the car. Wine and beer will be available so no one under age 21 is permitted to attend. Classes will once again donate themed baskets to raffle. Tickets are $1.00 for one chance or 6 chances for $5.00. You do not need to be present to win the car, basket raffle or the auction items. We need donations for the silent auction. If you own a business and can donate a prize or a gift certificate, it would be greatly appreciated. All are welcome to donate NEW items that would be suitable for the silent auction. Donors will be recognized in our parish bulletin and if a business donation, also at the event where your business card will be displayed with items donated. Please contact Lori Lea Sawyer at lorilea@cableone.net or 228 596 8040 if you have any questions about the silent auction. Come for the silent auction and car raffle but most of all fellowship and a great cause – proceeds benefit our Support for Youth Ministry. ALTAR SERVER TRAINING SESSIONS Dear parents, For the past few weeks I've noticed that we do not have altar servers at the 9:00 am Mass. If your child is scheduled to serve at Mass, please make sure he/she is at the scheduled Mass to serve. In the event he/she cannot come, please contact another family to have another server take his/her place. Please try to encourage your child to serve as an altar server here at St. Thomas. Children who have received First Holy Communion (3rd grade) already and older can come to the rehearsals. Our next training session in the church for new and returning altar servers is Wednesday, February 24th from 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm. Please make every effort to bring your child to this rehearsal so that he/ she can be well prepared to serve at the altar.
