WHAT IS THE CAA? Dr Mensa Otabil The Council of African Apostles is an annual gathering of Africa’s apostolic voice. Apostles of genuine credibility gather for three days to discuss and share ideas concerning the issues that affect the Church in Africa as well as the nations of the continent. The prime movers of the initiative include: Bishop Tudor Bismark(Zimbabwe), Dr. Mensa Otabil (Ghana), Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams (Ghana), Bishop Enock Sitima ( Botswana). Bishop Mike Okonkwo (Nigeria), Bishop Joe Imakando (Zambia) amongst others. The CAA Summits afford Africa’s apostles the opportunity to share ideas, experiences and strategies to make the Kingdom of God manifest in the nations of Africa. A brotherhood of sorts, the Council also provides accountability, guidance and brotherly protection in a mutual bond of calling, a destiny, a love for the continent and the sovereignty of Christ Jesus the King of Kings. Dr Mensa Otabil is a Pastor, educator, entrepreneur and consultant. He is Founder and General Overseer of the International Central Gospel Church with its network of local churches, Multifaceted Ministries and Initiatives in Ghana. The church also has extensive outreaches into other parts of Africa, Europe and the United States. Dr Otabil is the Founder and Chancellor of Ghana’s premier private university - The Central University College; the Chief Executive Officer and Consultant of Otabil and Associates - an Executive and leadership growth consultancy. Dr Mike Okwonkwo Dr Mike Okwonkwo established The Redeemed Evangelical THE EXECUTIVE Mission, (TREM) in 1981. Bishop Mike is a member of the founding fathers of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), the 1st National Secretary General and the immediate past National President of the PFN. He is the current Vice Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) as well as an executive member of the National Ministers Conference (NMC). Most of the world’s fastest growing churches are in Nigeria; God seems to have favoured Nigeria with big congregations, big business amongst so many other things. Against this exciting backdrop, the CAA summit will be discussing topics such as: • • • • • Nigerian Case studies of the potency on the African church: how did this happen?, Has the prosperity message translated to traceable socio-economic growth of individual mem bers in a church, Addressing questions of the relevance of the church in the Twenty First century (especially for the youth). How do we position ourselves and remain at the centre of everyday life in the face of so much competition and options. The church and the broader community - how have our interventions in Social Service Delivery (Health and Education) contributed towards mobilising people into the Church The church and capacity to utilise technology to gather people….
