Browns Bay School 15 December 2010 www.brownsbay.school.nz Dear Parents Seasons Greetings As this is the final newsletter for 2010 may I take the opportunity to thank everybody in the school community for the support and assistance we have received during the year. Have a very Happy Christmas. We look forward to welcoming the children back to the new term on 2nd February 2011. J.M. Hewitt (Acting Principal) YEAR 6 STUDENTS It is with a touch of sadness, but with high expectations, that we farewell our Year 6 pupils as they move on to Intermediate School. Many of these pupils have been at school since they started as 5 year olds and we thank all Year 6 ’s for the contribution they have made to our school. We hope that in the future they will look back on their time at Browns Bay School with fondness. LOST PROPERTY All lost property will be displayed in the senior playground on Friday 17 th December. We will be encouraging all classes to look through and take anything that belongs to them, and we ask that any parents that are in the school on that day, to please also have a look – there are a large number of polar fleeces. LOST STAFF FAREWELLS At Jingle last Thursday Night. 10/23 Waller and Janice McGuire will finish at the end of the year and we thank them sincerely for stepping in Newsletter As is often the case at this time of the year we will be saying farewell to some current staff. Mich èle Jane Kelly and Tanya Sheppard have stepped into the NE class roles this year and we look forward to welcoming them both back next year at some stage, as they return to various teaching roles. Ruth to take over their respective classes for the term. Helen Fleming leaves us to take up a position teaching French at St Cuthberts School – we wish her all the best. Marja Smith also leaves us as she is relocating out of Auckland to be closer to family. We thank her for her contribution to our school this year. Brand new black zip-up Katmandu Sweatshirt. Adult Size M. If you have found it please phone Annette on 478 4410. LUNCHROOM The school lunchroom will be open on Monday, Wednesdays and Fridays in 2011. The first day of operation will be Monday 7th February. Corrigan is taking a years leave in 2011 and we will welcome her back in 2012. Maurine Shirley has decided the time is right to dedicate more time to her grandchildren and will retire DATES The final day for the school year is Friday 17 December. School will finish at 1.00pm from teaching – after 29 years at Browns Bay School!! with children not having lunch at school. The start date for the 2011 school year is We cannot thank Maurine enough for the contribution that she has made to our school. She will be greatly missed. Wednesday 2 February. NEW STAFF We welcome some new staff to our school for 2011 – Amanda Old and Jacinda Vaughan will be starting SWIMMING POOL OPENING HOURS The pool will be open during the school holidays from 10.00am to 8.00pm. their teaching career at our school. We also welcome Michelle Crabb coming to us from Manuka School, and Melanie Hogg who is coming from Gulf Harbour School. The pool may be used when school is operating from 3.30pm in the afternoons and on weekends and public holidays during relevant hours as above, right through until the We also welcome back our Principal, Roger Harnett, who will return after his year working as a Leadership and Management facilitator for Team Solutions (University of Auckland). This means that Jo Hewitt will step back into her Deputy Principal role, and Liz Day will return to her pool closes for the season. Associate Principal role. We have also made the decision to expand our Leadership Team and are pleased to announce that Jacky Carr will also remain in an Associate Principal role for 2011.
