With warm regards, Joanne Andruscavage Page 2 Critter Chronicle Happy Tails: Happiness is a new home — here are some tales to share From Loopi’s family From Miss T’s family We love Miss-T. She is doing well and loves to play and is really friendly. We had to put her on medication for her allergies but she is doing great now and we love the Creekside Vet folks! Loopi's new name is Augie (short for August) and he is a sweet, fun, fantastic little puppy! He is really learning his manners well he graduated from Senior Puppy and is now in Family Dog 2, and I'm hoping to do Canine Good Citizen with him next year. He LOVES going to class at the learning center and drags me in from the car every time we go. Thank you all SO much for rescuing him and for all of the wonderful work you do. From Arlo’s family Arlo (formerly Aristotle) went on vacation with us this summer . . . he was a perfect gentleman and even turned the couple we were vacationing with into "dog people." He helped me train for a 5k last fall. His favorite thing is taking long naps on our couch with our three cats (also rescues). The cats wait until he dozes off, and then groom him until he wakes up. You matched us up with a healthy, well trained, friendly dog, and we wanted to say thank you. From Bandito’s family Bandito (now Benjamin) is doing great! He and my son have so much fun together. He was a perfect match for our family! From Gumby’s family From Freedom’s family Minnie (Freedom) is awesome—we adore her! She keeps our other two (older) cats on their toes and plays with the dog. She really is a very sweet girl. Thanks so much for all you do—we could not be happier with Minnie! Words cannot describe how great of a cat Gumby (now named Theodore) is. He is the perfect addition to our family! Theodore's best quality is his sweet nature; he lets us know right away if Clover (our other cat) accidentally gets shut in the laundry room by meowing and scratching the door to alert us. He also comforts Clover when she is scared. Everyone who visits our home falls in love with his sweet and curious nature. We want to thank you again for bringing this awesome animal into our lives. read more Happy Tails at PAWS4EVER.ORG From Soldier’s family His new name is Java. We also adopted Chloe last August from Paws4ever and the two are the best of friends. They love running around and playing ball or chase in the backyard with our 7 year old. We couldn't have asked for 2 better dogs. Thank you for everything that ya'll do for these animals that deserve so much love. Spring 2013 Page 3 Page 4 Remember Hercules? Critter Chronicle Great ideas that benefit Paws4ever Thank you to all who made gifts in December to benefit Paws4ever. Not only did we receive financial support, but we also marveled at the generosity expressed through other means. One of our dedicated volunteers integrated Paws4ever into his office’s annual holiday door decorating contest. His door won and he donated the winning gift to Paws4ever! His creativity not only benefited Paws4ever directly but also indirectly by spreading information about Paws4ever. PetPartners, Inc., a loyal vendor and supporter of our annual Walk for Animal Protection, collected pet food, cleaning products, cat toys and even office supplies as an activity associated with their staff holiday party. Author Elizabeth Schaff Sloan adopted Hercules from Paws4ever several years ago and he is now the star of her new book, Ollie The Very Quiet Beagle. “Ollie is a very quiet Beagle; he doesn't bark much at all. However one day, out on a walk with his owner, he sees something that surprises him and the results are surprising too!” The author is a freelance writer and a pediatric registered nurse who “lives in North Carolina with her husband, two children, a cat and a Beagle!” The illustrator, Leah Heidelmeier, specializes in mixed media and graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill. This colorfully illustrated paperback is available for sale or download through Amazon.com. Hercules found a loving forever home AND a career! Congratulations Ollie and Elizabeth on the publication of this lovely story. Several local schools and churches held supply drives for us through the holiday season. Best of all, many of you adopted your new best friend during December and January! It makes us happy to find a perfect match and know that an animal we have cared for and loved has found his/her forever home. And, it makes us very happy to know that we can visit the local shelters and bring more animals to Paws4ever to await their perfect match. Thank you for all the many ways you keep Paws4ever in your thoughts and support us with your gifts, your creativity, your time and your devotion to the animals. Several co-workers throughout the area made donations to Paws4ever in honor of their Secret Santa recipients. ReSale Store donations Many of you made donations in honor of Paws4ever volunteers, staff and Board members. Remember the ReSale Store as you begin your spring cleaning. Donations of furniture, household items, artwork, recreational equipment, jewelry, and antiques are accepted during store hours Thursday through Saturday. Our friends at Syd’s Hair Shop in Chapel Hill donated proceeds from their calendar sales to Paws4ever. Many of you collected supplies for the Adoption Center through your own family and neighborhood food drives. Visit the store often as inventory changes weekly.
