Audiences are laughing out loud at Kevin’s lifelike ventriloquist figures and puppets. With a blend of old-fashioned comedy, storytelling, music and audience participation, Kevin and his pals including Edgar Bergen/Charlie McCarthy/Mortimer Snerd era along with special guests Johnny Cash and Elvis will keep you entertained! The Dining Table…Lunch served at 11:30 am (No Dining from September 19-October 10.) A Fish Sandwich at McDonald’s costs over $4 without even a drink. Good Conversation is also available at the dining table. For individuals 60 and up, the cost is $4 and $7 for individuals younger than 60 years. Knitters Needed for Fall Boutique at Richfield Community Center The Fall Boutique is desperately in need of knitters who can knit caps or mittens for kids and adults. We would love the colors to be sports colors, etc. Spartans, Vikings, Gophers, Wisconsin teams. We will provide the yarn. The Boutique is scheduled for November 5, so we would need the items before that date. The proceeds go back into our senior donations to buy more supplies for selling our crafts. If you are new to the sport, paddles and balls are available at the park or church on drop in days until you buy your own equipment. ARTISTIC EXPRESSION A RT S /C R A FT S /H O B B IE S Fireside Poets Fireside Poets meet on the second Monday of each month. We use a structure called the ABC’s of work shopping poetry: Appreciation; Beneficial Analysis; and Cogent Comments to provide useful evaluation for the poet submitting their poetry. This provides insight into the process of writing poetry, both to the recipient of the evaluation and to the poets providing the evaluations. Poets range from budding to published. Part of the time is also devoted to programs on the craft of poetry. The program is designed to promote the development of writing poetry and opportunities for public performance. The group has a maximum membership of 12, and is limited to the first 10 submissions for review each month. You may arrange to visit the class and receive information about the program. Or received a phone call or letter letting you know you’ve suddenly won a large amount of money? Senior financial abuse is often under-reported & misunderstood. During this workshop you’ll learn to recognize the 10 red flags that let you know when something isn’t quite right, and hear about the BBB Scam Tracker, an interactive online tool which people can use to learn about and report scams. It is a good idea to review the coverage every year. Attend this unbiased educational presentation that will be helpful to you. Listen to topics such as: what is a Medicare Advantage plan, how it works, and comparison of the various plans, and their advantages and disadvantages. Part D topics will include the Part D benefit, a comparison of prescription coverage currently available from your Medicare supplement or employer retiree plan versus Part D coverage, how to compare prescription coverage and how prescription coverage works with various Medicare supplements, employer plan and Medicare Advantage Plans. By adopting a Richfield park, you commit to at least two clean-up efforts a year: one in the spring and one later in the year. Adopters are asked to provide their own small containers for each person (like a grocery bag), then consolidate the garbage into larger garbage bags. Larger bags can be supplied by Richfield Recreation; call in advance of a cleanup to request them. RECREATION PROGRAM POLICIES CANCELLATIONS AND REFUNDS If you need to withdraw from a program, you must notify the Recreation Services office where you registered (Community Center, Ice Arena, Wood Lake) before the session begins. • The Richfield Recreation Services Department reserves the right to cancel classes or programs due to insufficient enrollment or issues beyond control. Full refunds will be given when classes are cancelled by our department. • When a class is not cancelled by the department, registered program participants are eligible to receive a refund only when canceling one week prior to the first class session. No refunds will be issued when requested within one week or after the start date of the program, unless for bona fide medical reasons. Refunds will be prorated if you have participated in the class prior to the occurrence of the medical condition. Richfield Recreation Services reserves the right to require documentation from a physician. • When a customer attends the first class of a session and the class does not meet their expectations, a prorated refund is offered for the remaining classes. The refund must be requested before the second class session takes place. • Refunds will not be issued for classes missed due to illness or vacations. • For activities that have advance program expenses (i.e. bus transportation, contracted services or prepaid admissions), no refunds will be issued after the registration deadline. VOLUNTARY PROGRAM PARTICIPATION I understand that my or my child’s participation in this program is voluntary and that the program is offered for the benefit of participants. I also understand that the risk of injury to myself or child from the activities in the program is significant, including potential for permanent disability and death. Good in the ’Hood hosts shoe drives and collections from churches, businesses, schools, civic organization, individuals and Schuler Shoes. The very best of these donated shoes are displayed on a school bus that has been converted into a mobile shoe store. High quality shoes of all sizes are offered to shoppers on the shoe bus for a suggested donation of $5 per pair and $2 for toddlers.
