Distribution & Contribution
HISPASAT provides TV and radio distribution and contribution services within the footprint of its
satellites located at 30ºW and 61ºW in any of its connectivities (Europe-Europe, AmericaAmerica, Europe-America, America-Europe). HISPASAT leads TV and radio content distribution
in the Spanish and Portuguese speaking markets.
Contribution service includes the transmission of content from earth stations, fixed or
transportable, to other earth stations, usually fixed (called central stations), for further
processing.
The satellite distribution service allows the content reception from the satellite to terrestrial
networks such as UHF/VHF, cable systems, microwave systems, etc…, for its subsequent
distribution to end users.

Backbone connection
Satellite-based transportation solutions are well suited to share big data amounts to connect big
population communities, far away ones from the others, to deploy networks over difficult
landscapes, to back up existing terrestrial networks securing no traffic congestion…
Telephone companies, mobile network operators, ISP’s and network operators in the whole can
benefit from a satellite-based solution, cost and time efficient, resilient and reliable.

3. Corporate services
UAV’s
The UAVs have been historically deployed using radio communication’s with frequencies of
radio spectrum dedicated to terrestrial mobile services.
The satellite system complement the radio system coverages (typically UHF – VHF), making
able the transmission of great amount of data. The satellite communications for this type of
systems are mainly carried out in Ku Band

Telecontrol & Telemetry
Telemetry is a technology which allows the remote measurement and reporting of information of
interest to the system designer or operator, via satellite.
An almost unlimited number of telecommunication networks can be established via HISPASAT
satellites. The most common include:
- Fluid transport infrastructure control (pipelines)
- water quality and flow control systems for river and water basins
- air quality and atmospheric pollution control systems…

In America, HISPASAT contributes to social projects that support e-learning and telemedicine
projects in countries such as Chile, Peru, Brazil or Argentina. It also provides high speed
Internet access to remote locations in more than ten countries on the American continent, for
which the satellite is the only manner of connecting with the Information Society.
In the educational arena, HISPASAT has developed educational projects in ten Latin American
countries, among which the following stand out:
• Schools of Chile Project, for the connection to Internet of more than 500 schools and
remote locations throughout the country.
• School of Perú (QUERO) Project, to provide Internet service via satellite to rural schools.
• PGMU Project in BRAZIL, to service 500 communities of less than 100 inhabitants in
northeast Brazil.
