Customised Installation To setup a customised POS installation, install the POSCustomisationSetup before installing Shoper 9 POS. The POSCustomisationSetup will copy .exe files, templates, logo, etc. to your system. POS installation will use these files, templates, etc. to complete the installation as per your requirements. To configure installation as per your requirements, the contents of certain files in the POSCustomisationSetup can be edited. Customisation of Files To customise the files, open the folder POSCustomisationSetup > WinRoot > POSCustomisation. The contents of this folder POSCustomisation are grouped under the extensions .zip, .ini, .bat, .jpg, .dll and .exe. You can edit the contents of all the files except the .exe files. Content of the POSCustomisation folder zip files The folder POSCustomisation has the following zip files: ShoperCustIni.zip - Containing the customised INI files ShoperCustWinDll.zip - Containing the system32.dll files including Crystal Report related files and font folder ShoperCustScript.zip - Containing the customised script files ShoperCustApp.zip - Containing the customised application files 1 Shoper 9 POS Customised Installer These files (BillTemplate, ParamDef, Images, Barcode) can be extracted, edited and saved/zipped back in to this folder. ini files CustomiseInfo.ini - This file contains information regarding the title, date, description and company logo to be displayed during the installation of Shoper 9 POS FileInfo.ini - This file is for futuristic use only FileList.ini - This file is blank before the customisation process. After the customisation process the list of all the zipped files in the folder is listed in this file. bat files CustRegis.bat - run this file to register the customisation UnCustRegis.bat - run this file to unregister the customisation jpg file This is an image file and is displayed during the installation of Shoper 9 POS, along with the customised setup configuration exe file This file cannot be modified and should not be deleted. Steps to create a Custom Build 1. Customise the file, CustomiseInfo.ini to display the following information while installing the custom build. Maintain the structure of the file while editing the contents. Double click on the file to open it Title: Enter the title that you want to be displayed on the main screen Date: Enter the date of creating the installer that you want to be displayed Description: Enter the description about the type and purpose of customisation Logo: Enter the name of the image file containing the logo which is available in the folder \POSCustomisationSetup\WinRoot\POSCustomisation\ The file, FileList.ini file is blank before the customisation process. After the customisation process the list of all the zipped files in the folder is listed in this file. 2 Shoper 9 POS Customised Installer Apart from the INI files, there are four zip files where you can upload the customer specific business template, bill template, customised exe, dll and other related files. The file, ShoperCustApp.zip contains all the customised files such as, application(.exe), Images, Paramdef, template, bill template, barcode template, etc., that are to be copied in to the application folder. The folders are as follows: Templates: Contains the customised Business templates Bill Templates: Contains the customised Bill Printing templates ParamDef: Contains the INI file of System Parameters Images: Contains images of stock items Barcode: Contains barcode related files. 2. Copy the customised files to the respective folder in the zip file. All the customised INI files to be copied to the INI folder are available in the file, ShoperCustIni.zip. All the customised script files to be copied to the application folder are available in the file, ShoperCustScript.zip. All the system files to be copied to the system are available in the file, ShoperCustWinDll.zip. These files should follow the given format: Fonts: Files containing the fonts or bar codes System32: Files containing the system dll or ocx Crystal: Files related to the Crystal Report Avoid creating a folder before zipping the files. First, select the files to be zipped, right click and select WinZip > Add to Zip file. 3 Shoper 9 POS Customised Installer Custom Build Installation — Method 1 Steps 1. Double click the CustomisationSetup.exe icon 2. The Shoper 9 POS - Customisation Setup screen is displayed as shown. Figure 1. Customisation Setup 3. Click Next to begin the installation 4 Shoper 9 POS Customised Installer The InstallShield Wizard displays the Preparing to Install screen. Figure 2. Destination Folder 5 Shoper 9 POS Customised Installer The default location for the destination folder is <windows installation drive>:\POSCustomisation\. 4. Click Browse to select the required path 5. Click Next The Custom Configuration Info. screen is displayed as shown. Figure 4. Custom Installation 6. Click Finish 6 Shoper 9 POS Customised Installer The Installation Completed screen is displayed as shown. Figure 5. Installation Completed 7. Click Finish to complete the customisation installation process 8. Now, install Shoper 9 POS The files and templates customised for a company should be installed in a folder before the installation of Shoper 9 POS. 7 Shoper 9 POS Customised Installer Shoper 9 POS Installation 1. Double click the ShoperPOSSetup.exe icon in the Shoper 9 POS Installer source The Welcome to Shoper 9 POS Setup window is displayed. In case any component of Shoper 9 POS is already installed, a corresponding message is displayed along with appropriate steps to be taken. 2. Click Next 3. The Welcome to Shoper 9 POS Setup Wizard window is displayed. 4. Click Next Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) are installed. Then, the Choose the Type of Installation window is displayed. Figure 6. Choose the Type of Installation 5. Select POS as Server or Stand Alone 6. Click Next 8 Shoper 9 POS Customised Installer The Cancel option available at various stages of the installation process allows you to abort the installation, if required. The Choose the Type of Installation screen as shown. Figure 7. Type of Shoper POS Installation 7. Select Stand Alone POS or Server and POS based on you requirment 8. Click Next The Choose the Shoper 9 POS Configuration window is displayed. 9. Select Standard product Configuration The standard out-of-the-box configuration will be installed. The option Custom build product Configuration allows you to install customised template types with extended product features in Shoper 9 POS. 10. Click Next 9 Shoper 9 POS Customised Installer 11. Select Server and POS 12. Click Next The Test SQL Connectivity window is displayed. Figure 8. Test Database Connection 13. Enter the Server Name, User Name (ShoperAdmin login created on SQL Server) and Password 14. Click Next A message Database Connection Successful is displayed, if the connection is successful. If the connection is not successful, a message indicating database connection failed is displayed. Click OK to close the message box. To continue, ensure that database server is accessible and user name & password are correct. The Shoper 9 POS Stand Alone - InstallShield Wizard displays the Destination Folder window. The default location for the destination folder is <windows installation 10 Shoper 9 POS Customised Installer drive>:\Shoper9\. Enter the folder name, or click Browse and select the required folder, if necessary. 15. Click Next The Setup Status window displays configuration status of software installation. Then, the Shoper 9 POS LiveUpdate window is displayed. 16. Select Check for Updates It is recommended that you check for updates. This will look for patch updates on the website, and if available updates the patch. Choose Skip Updates to avoid looking for patch updates. 17. Click Next Once the download is completed, a message Download of updates for Shoper 9 completed is displayed. 18. Click Next The Shoper 9 POS Installation window is displayed. 19. Select Setup New Instance of Shoper POS Select Restore an Instance of Shoper POS, if you want to restore a POS installation from a backup. For details, refer to the document Shoper 9 POS Installation & Setup on the installation CD. 20. Click Finish The Shoper System Configuration window is displayed where the database connection information provided earlier in the Test SQL Connectivity window is already populated. 21. Enter/ change the server name, user id and password, if required You may click Advanced to change the default values of Node/ Terminal ID and Name, and Shoper Configuration Database Name. For better disk space management, you may choose to write data files and log files in a desired path instead of the default path provided by SQL Server. Then, select Specify data file paths and enter the data file and log file paths. 11 Shoper 9 POS Customised Installer Figure 9. Shoper System Configuration – Advanced 22. Click Ok to accept values in the Advanced window The database path needs to be a local path. If any problem is encountered while accessing the paths provided, then an error message The database is being used/Path is not Valid is displayed. 23. Click Next The system database is created and the Shoper System Configuration window is displayed with the configuration summary. 24. Click Finish 12 Shoper 9 POS Customised Installer The Shoper 9 POS Setup window is displayed. Figure 10. Customisation Complete The content incorporated during customisation is displayed. 25. Click Next 13 Shoper 9 POS Customised Installer The Shoper Company Configuration screen is displayed as shown. Figure 11. Shoper Company Configuration The Business Environment is customised as Retail. 26. Select New company as the Company Setup 27. Click Next 14 Shoper 9 POS Customised Installer The required databases are created and the Shoper Company Configuration screen is displayed with default values for Company Administrator. The Company Configuration screen is displayed as shown. Figure 12. Company Configuration The purpose of the fields and their corresponding default values are as listed below. Enter the Company Information 29. Change Company Administrator details, if required 30. Click Advanced to specify the location of data files if different from the default location 31. Click Next 15 Shoper 9 POS Customised Installer The Parameters screen is displayed. Figure 13. Parameters Setup 32. Make changes in the settings, if required To alter the parameters, click the cells in the column Value. Most of the parameters are either to select or to set the captions for Basic item classification, Super classification and Item analysis codes. 33. Click Next 16 Shoper 9 POS Customised Installer The Shoper 9 POS Setup window is displayed. Figure 14. Shoper POS Setup details 34. Click Next to continue 17 Shoper 9 POS Customised Installer The Shoper Company Configuration screen is displayed. Figure 15. Shoper Company Configuration In-Progress 18 Shoper 9 POS Customised Installer The Installshield Wizard registers the components and the Installation Completed screen is displayed. Figure 16. Click Finish The installation of the customised build of Shoper 9 POS is complete. 19 Shoper 9 POS Customised Installer Custom Build Installation — Method 2 In this method you need to ensure the availability of the custom setup before you start the installation. 36. Double click the ShoperPOSSetup.exe icon in the Shoper 9 POS Installer source The Welcome to Shoper 9 POS Setup window is displayed. In case any component of Shoper 9 POS is already installed, a corresponding message is displayed along with appropriate steps to be taken. 1. Click Next The Welcome to Shoper 9 POS Setup Wizard window is displayed. 2. Click Next Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) are installed.
