We’re Off To A Great Start!
Thank you to each of you
who have taken the time
to register your child for
our program. This is the
best start that we’ve had
with regards to enrollment
numbers. On our official
roster, we have 100 students enrolled in the program. Our average daily
attendance ranges between
70-75 students each day!
We’re very excited to get
the opportunity to work
with your son or daughter.
Every day is a new opportunity to build relationships, learn more about
your child, and hopefully
give them positive experiences that they will not
soon forget!
sure to keep the kids interested and wanting to
come back for more !
We have worked diligently
to try and provide fun and
engaging activities on a
consistent basis that is
Power Hour Incentive Program
Power Hour is our mandatory homework completion time. New to the
program this year is our
Incentive Program. How it
works, is each student is
eligible to earn points for
the following categories:
attendance –1, arrived on
time-1, came prepared-4,
used time wisely-3 worked
on homework-5, read a
book-2, or used Study Island-1, bonus points can
also be earned for above
and beyond efforts. The
maximum points that can
be earned per day is 14
points. Over a three week
period these points are
tracked. (cont. page 2)

Incentive Program Continued
At the conclusion of the three weeks, points will be totaled and students who earn points between
100-126+ will be eligible for the “Power Party” for that month. Parties can range from a special
outing, i.e. Pumpkin Patch, Bowling, Skating , special activity in house, or special snack such as a pizza
party! The goal of the program is to help reinforce the importance of academic excellence. Most
often it is true that simply turning in homework assignments consistently and on time is what makes
the biggest difference when it comes to passing classes successfully!
Our trip to the Lion King!
32 were eligible, but only 10 were lucky enough to capture the prize! Recently, 10
S.P.A.R.K. participants were invited to see the Broadway production of Disney’s, “The
Lion King”. These students were eligible for the prize drawing due to their consistent
attendance to club everyday, participating in Power Hour, and having stayed through
at least one full activity rotation! Prior to the show everyone enjoyed a spaghetti
dinner, with salad, breadsticks, and punch. We think it is safe to say they all enjoyed
the show. Every one of them were on the edge of their seats, the entire three hours
of the show! Congrats once again!

Lauren Peil Miss Lauren as the kids call her, is working on just her eighth
month of being a Program Supervisor, but she comes with a
wealth of knowledge and a true passion for our kids’ success. A
few things about Miss Lauren: Her favorite color is purple, she
likes to “cook mini pizzas, (with the kids) because they are so
delicious”. In her spare time she enjoys watching and participating in sports and hanging out with her family. She enjoys
working with kids because “they always bring something new
and interesting to each day”. If she had a limitless budget an
improvement she’d make to the club would be, “providing
more field trips for the kids like the Lion King and to Kansas City
so everyone would have a chance to participate.”
Hugh Mason Only here for three weeks, but already making a huge
impact is Hugh! He enjoys any outdoor activity such as
camping, fishing, hunting, and surfing! His favorite day
of the week is Sunday (Football and Relaxing)! He enjoys working with kids because as he states, “Kids are
our future, they help me stay focused on current
events, and it allows me to give back the care and support that others gave (him).” Hugh added that if he
had a limitless budget he’d like to have more space in
the classrooms, and add a water park/amusement
park!
