+ Pax vobis et bonum, Fr Francisco Nahoe OFM Conv Budget News Date July 27 August 3 August 10 August 17 August 24 August 31 1st Collection $ $ $ $ $ $ 2nd Collection $ $ - 2nd Collection To Benefit No 2nd collection Long Term Repairs No 2nd collection Peter’s Pence Collection No 2nd collection No 2nd collection The Second Diocesan Synod of Reno is coming December 3, 4 & 5, 2015 Please pray for the work in preparing for this historical event for our Church in Northern Nevada, and offer input and assistance when and where requested during this process. We are “Together, — where the Spirit leads.” Prayer for our Diocesan Synod: God our Father, You have called us by baptism to be faithful members of your Church. Send the Holy Spirit to guide the work of the second Synod of the Diocese of Reno. Inspire us to bring new life to the mission of your Church here in Northern Nevada. Through the work of our Synod, may we follow where the Holy Spirit leads, to become instruments and hope for the world in spreading the Good News to people far and wide. With example and help of Mary our Mother who gathered with the disciples in the upper room, may we listen to the promptings of the Spirit. Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful, and kindle in them the fire of your love. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen. In today's first reading, Solomon certainly hits the jackpot. What prize could be greater than having God Almighty agree to give you whatever you ask for? Out of all the things he could have asked for, Solomon chose to ask for understanding, and was rewarded with it. We would do well to wonder what we would ask for if God made us the same offer. Actually God does make us the same offer each and every day, by granting us another day of life, a bit of the earth's goods, some gift or ability, some call to goodness, some portion of the divine will. Each of these is a "prize." We should stop and examine what we are going to do with our prize: keep it or use it selfishly, or put it at the service of the spread of the gospel? Copyright (c) J. S. Paluch Co. FROM THE DESK OF DEACON RICHARD RENOVATION DONOR WALL When contributors originally pledged for the Retrofit/Renovation, they were told that their name would be displayed on a Donor Wall. Some of the plans that I saw were just too expensive, this is one of the reasons for the delay. I have found an economical way of putting up the Donor Wall in the Cathedral. This will have a cost of course, which we will have to save for first. I’ll let everyone know what the cost will be shortly. PARISH CONTACTS The CSA campaign has slowed to a crawl. CSA An exasperated mother, whose son was always getting into mischief, finally asked him, “How do you expect to get into Heaven?” The boy thought it over and said, “Well, I’ll just run in and out and in and out and keep slamming the door until St. Peter says, ‘For Heaven’s sake, GJ, come in or stay out!’” PARISH BULLETIN We need help with finding more companies to advertise on the last page of the bulletin.
