UFDC Region 2North Newsletter Spring 2013 Maryll Goldsmith 916 716-5490 1649 49th St., Sacramento, CA.95819 mgsp2@att.net A message from your Director…. I am glad Spring is just around the corner for us out here on the West coast. I enjoyed the Tonner West Coast event in January. Both Jean and Addy accompanied me for the day in Burlingame. We spent the night before at the Crowne Plaze Hotel to avoid the “crack of dawn” drive. As we were leaving the Elephant Bar restaurant after dinner that night, we ran into Robert Tonner and his co workers. I have some pictures that were taken by Michelle showing us with our Amelia and Izzy dolls. The event was fun and I was lucky enough to win the last door prizes, an Ellowyne “Plaid to meet you” doll. I have visited a few of our clubs and am looking forward to visiting with many more in the region. Some of you found me at the Nancy Jo Vallejo Doll Show at the beginning of this month. Two new members signed up as MAL’s at that show. I attended the BADCC sponsored by the Menlo Park Doll Club in January. The luncheon food was great and the program was well done. There were a great many helpers and the table centerpieces were wonderful, handmade Lenci style dolls. Each doll was auctioned off at the end of the event. My sister won three of them signed by the artist. Next I will be visiting Reno and Carson City clubs as well as those in Utah. See you there! A note from Stephanie Blythe: I am looking for collectors willing to lend their NIADA dolls for an exhibit at the NIADA conference in the Bay Area June 23-30. If you have any dolls we could borrow for the display please contact: Stephanie Blythe – 415-455-8415 or s.blythe@comcast.net Donations made to UFDC From members and clubs of our Region Building Fund – Doll Keepers of California Gold Rush Doll Collectors of Grass Valley Golden Hills Doll Study Club Barbara Jackson Love-A-Doll Club Unity Fund – Dolls from the Attic of Northern California Grace Drayton Doll Study Club Loretta Nardone Jerrie Bartley Dorothy Drake Joan Kumparak Dorothy J. They chose the birthdays of the past two and the current regional directors, Dorothy Drake, Althea Garcia and myself. UFDC Annual Convention – A Capital Affair is waiting for us all in Washington DC in July. I do hope many of you will be able to attend. There will be a Region 2 North meeting which I hope all of your delegates and others will attend. This is the time for your representatives to meet others from the region (remember our region includes Utah and Nevada, besides the valley, coast and mountains of central and northern California) and exchange thoughts and ideas. There will be refreshments donated by the Bay Area Doll Club Council. I look forward to meeting you there. Activity Reports – Reports are due to UFDC of your club’s activities of the last fiscal year. Remember to send the pink copy to me. Ebay auction fundraiser Region 2N is due to help the UFDC Ebay Auction Project this Spring. Our donation months are April–June. Donations can be sent to UFDC headquarters at any time.
