Looking ahead to 2017, these new facilities funded by AGO (a 70% stake), by the State and local authorities, will be home to all the commercial airline activities of Nantes Atlantique on this new site around ten miles north west of Nantes. 32 new scheduled routes including 20 in Europe, almost 400,000 additional passengers in just one year… 2012 was a record-breaking year at Nantes Atlantique. As for Saint-Nazaire Montoir, chiefly used for business linked to the aeronautical industry, there was an increase of 21.8% with the quantity of air freight reaching 21,214 tonnes. After two years of activity, Aéroports du Grand Ouest subsidiary of VINCI Airports, once again has come up with encouraging results. With an increase of +12% in passenger numbers, +38.5% in scheduled international traffic and +5.3% in commercial movements, we have seen growth of almost four times the national average. Three years ahead of the forecasts in the public enquiry document, this trend confirms the need to transfer this business to the site of the Nantes future airport. It is at the heart of this region of Western France that we continue our work serving local people and businesses. Now more than ever, air transport is a vital link with the rest of the world. It is not by chance that more than half of our traffic involves European and international destinations. In early 2013, our skills were taken up in Portugal, where we acquired ANA, the company which holds the concession for 50 years for the country’s ten airports. These excellent results deserve to be shared as they are due to the work done each day by all those involved at Nantes Atlantique Airport. It was here that the "Smiling" concept was put in place to develop a real team spirit dedicated to offering a warm welcome and high quality service to our passengers… and today this is a major feature within the VINCI Airports Group, which has been applied to all of its airports in France and in Cambodia. Nicolas Notebaert, President of Aéroports du Grand Ouest, President of VINCI Airports 02 VINCI Airports A major player in the airport sector V INCI Airports, a key player in the airport sector, is currently operating and developing 13 airports, primarily under public service outsourcing contracts, including 10 in France (Nantes Atlantique, Rennes Bretagne, ClermontFerrand Auvergne, Grenoble Isère, Chambéry Savoie, Dinard Bretagne, Poitiers Biard, Quimper Cornouaille, Saint-Nazaire Montoir, Ancenis), and will also be developing and operating the Nantes future airport. In addition, it is the concession company for Cambodia's 3 international airports - Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and Sihanoukville. Altogether, these Traffic forecasts of almost 40 million passengers in 2013 airports handled more than 9.5 million passengers in 2012, nearly more than 12% more than in 2011. On 21st February, VINCI Airports signed an agreement with the Portuguese government to acquire ANA and to hold a 50-year concession for the 10 airports in mainland Portugal (Lisbon, Porto, Faro, Beja) and in the Azores (Ponta Delgada, Horta, Flores) and Madeira (Funchal and Porto Santo), which saw total passenger numbers in excess of 30 million in 2012. The ANA acquisition will be effective once the anti-trust authorities have given their approval. In 2012, almost 2,000 direct jobs were identified within the 85 units looking after the management and running of the airport (concession holders, public sector services, subcontractors, airlines, airline services, retails and services within the terminal or nearby, forwarding agents and freight companies). The financial benefit linked to money spent by tourists during their stay is thought to be around 205,5 million euros (taking into account that a holidaymaker spends on average 5,3 days in the region and spends around 86 euros a day). In all, considering the indirect impact (see below), the financial benefit from Nantes Atlantique Airport is estimated to come to 1,081 billion euros in 2012… im Th At pac e fin lan t an tiq of N cia ue a l Air nte po s rt 1,081 billion euros in 2012 (expenditure by passengers coming from outside Western France, who spent at least one night in the region) A direct impact of M€ 155 (jobs and financial transactions generated by firms within the airport) An induced effect of M€ 721 (the successive spending made by those benefiting from the direct and indirect impact) Saint-Nazaire Montoir, serving industry S aint-Nazaire Montoir Airport is a vital tool for local industry, an infrastructure serving the Saint-Nazaire Airbus factories, with around fifteen movements per week. 04 Catchment area for Nantes Atlantique Airport - 1st zone "Within one hour drive: 3 million inhabitants - 2nd zone "Within 2 hours' drive: 5.5 million inhabitants - 3rd zone "Within 3 hours' drive: 8 million inhabitants An indirect impact of M€ 205,5 Nantes Atlantique Airport a benefit of rom Brittany to the Centre and from Normandy to Charentes… with a market share of 60% of air traffic for this large region with 8 million inhabitants, Nantes Atlantique is Western France’s leading airport. Future airport Generating jobs L ooking forward to 2017, all of the commercial activity at Nantes Atlantique will be transferred to the site of the future airport. Better positioned between Nantes and Rennes, these new facilities will better serve the catchment area currently with around 8 million inhabitants and bringing together 170,000 firms, or in other words, 1,4 million employees, within 1 hour and 15 minutes's drive. Before that, the construction project will involve almost 800 workers, generating 4,5 million man hours of work, chiefly for the local workforce. As soon as the airport opens, almost 2,500 employees will be working at the airport, i.e. 500 more than today. The future airport will be able to anticipate and cope with a growth in traffic linked an increase in the size of the population of Western France: +26% in the Pays de la Loire region by 2040 and +24% in Brittany*. *Source: INSEE Contents MANAGEMENT COMPANY Aéroports du Grand Ouest 190 employees within the management company 05 2 ,000 employees at Nantes Atlantique and Saint-Nazaire Montoir Airports 2, 500 employees at the future airport when it opens Contents Financial results Aéroports du Grand Ouest The future airport self-financing at 80 million euros T urnover at Nantes Atlantique and Saint-Nazaire Montoir increased by 12.7% in 2012 thanks to a growth in traffic. Excluding airport duties, the turnover figures remain strong with more than 53% of the income coming from commercial businesses outside of the airlines: (car parks, retails…). The business at Nantes Atlantique and Saint-Nazaire Montoir airports will contribute 80 million euros during the period 2011-2017 to the funding of the future airport. Future airport Finalizing land purchases P art of the profits from Nantes Atlantique is already financing the future airport: 30 million euros were invested by AGO in 2011 and 2012. A similar sum will be allotted in 2013. Over the past year the final land purchases have been made: 100% of the 1,239 hectares required by the concession is now owned by AGO (on behalf of the State), 85% having been acquired by mutual agreement (such as 30 out Controlled and shared funding 2012 Key Figures for Aéroports du Grand Ouest Revenue EBITDA Operating Income Net Income 54,820,850 € 17,799,938 € 13,034,887 € 8,017,453 € Overall construction cost (airport, access by road and control tower) Estimated cost of the new airport facilities (excluding the control tower) 13,544,323 € Security and Safety Tax Breakdown of Revenue 54,820,850 € 22,104,175 € Non Aeronautical Services - car parks - Retails and services - property 19,172,352 € Aeronautical Services - passenger fees - aircraft movement charges 06 of the 40 farms concerned), with the rest being obtained by judicial process. By the end of 2012, 926 ha were available. In 2013, the preparatory work will follow: Installation of various networks, arch eological surveying, initial movement of protected species and clearing and levelling, once the official decrees concerning "protected species" and "water act" are in force. Access roads Control tower 315 M€ funded by AGO i.e. 70% of the total cost W ithin the framework of the concession agreement, Aéroports du Grand Ouest is funding 70% of the cost of the future airport and therefore accepting the financial risks associated with the project (in particular linked to how air traffic evolves). The public service contract means that the proportion of public investment is limited, but it also means that public financing partners have an interest in the airport’s results, as soon as the operating profit exceeds forecasts (a special earn-out clause), while guaranteeing the ownership of the State’s facilities. The cost of reimbursing the spending on the future airport will largely be borne by users (airline companies and passengers) and not by taxpayers. Contents Infrastructure Nantes Atlantique Airport Future airport Traffic is developing quickly and dramatically at Nantes Atlantique whereas facilities are becoming increasingly restrictive. That is why the management company has had to come up with innovative solutions along with its partners to ensure everything runs smoothly up until the transfer. T Innovative facilities In 2012 A Service Level Agreement or SLA was drawn up by Aéroports du Grand Ouest, bringing together for the first time in France, the management company, the airlines and auxiliary companies at the airport. Under the terms of this SLA, everyone involved agrees to follow common performance and operational rules to contribute to customer satisfaction. In 2012 The SimuAirport software was invented and designed within the company and worked on by Stéria to stop the airport facilities from becoming saturated, by simulating passenger traffic, the space required in each area and service (car parks, check-in counters, boarding zones…), and by adjusting the means required to guarantee the quality of service delivered by AGO. In 2013 By the summer, work is due to begin on the circular road around the terminal in order to improve the flow, to optimize parking close to the terminal and to improve the movement of people accompanying travellers (creation of a drop-off zone, an area for professional drivers and a taxi zone). In 2013 450 extra parking places have been created for the spring-summer season on the Western leisure area of the airport (P0). At the same time parking is being simplified around three possibilities: long stay, open-air parking nearby and a covered car park. In 2013 While awaiting the transfer To improve the flow of travellers and their safety in Hall 4 (increasingly used because of halls 2 and 3 filling up at peak times), the area in front of the check-in desks has been reorganized. This should ensure smoother access for passengers while queuing to check-in or before the security control. At Saint-Nazaire Montoir… In 2013, Aéroports du Grand Ouest began working with all those involved in the aircraft sector in order to increase the number of aircraft parking spaces. The aim is to improve the 07 movement of Belugas as the Airbus site steps up production and strengthen the logistical and industrial role of the airport. he most recent project carried out by the French State in the area of air transport is the future airport which is relying on innovation to serve its clients – airline companies and passengers – with: A simple, efficient and adaptable terminal, capable of welcoming up to 5 million passengers from its opening. Two dedicated runways for take off and landing mean that waiting times in the air and taxi-ing around the airport can be cut, leading to a reduction in the consumption of kerosene. Bringing aircraft into direct contact with the terminal means offering smoother access. The possibility of dealing with large aircraft. 3 extension phases are possible to deal with up to 9 million passengers by 2050. The ability to include all sorts of transport link (shuttle, tram, railway). More services for passengers (shops, restaurants…) right up to the departures lounges. The ability to respect the latest security norms (the first international transport infrastructure built in France since the terrorist attacks of September 2001). Low energy buildings favouring natural heat and light (High quality environmental certification resulting in improvements in the carbon footprint), leading to energy consumption being cut per passenger to a third for the new airport in comparison to the current airport. This policy benefits all those involved at the airport – airlines, assistants, restaurants, hotels, rental firms… – but also contributes to the local economy. In 2012, 32 new routes were added to the network. This comes in addition to the stable situation and variety of airlines already present at the airport, and the large catchment area with a high quality clientele throughout the whole of Western France. This dynamic approach explains the continued ongoing growth that the airport has been experiencing over the past two decades. At the same time, the number of commercial movements has grown by 29.32% over 6 years, reaching +5.33% in 2012 with 47,921 aircraft departures and arrivals. The consequence of that is the infrastructures at the airport have to cope with increasing periods of saturation, implying management constraints, as the airport develops. Any prospect for development needs to be found in the off peak period of the winter, thanks in particular to aircraft being based here throughout the year like the Volotea aircraft (which opened its first base in France in Nantes in June 2012) and Transavia. 09 1 Nantes Atlantique st French regional airport for charter flights. 15 Nantes Atlantique Airport scheduled airlines Nantes Atlantique Airport 32 new scheduled routes opened in 2012 Destination Airline Frequencies Season Start date in 2012 Agadir Jet4you 2/sem Throughout the year January Ajaccio Volotea Up to 7/week Throughout the year June Bastia Volotea Up to 6/week Throughout the year June Bergamo* Volotea 3/week Winter September Berlin Transavia 2/week Throughout the year October Biarritz* Volotea Up to 2/week Summer June Faro* Ryanair 2/week Summer March Grenoble Volotea 1/week Winter December Ibiza Volotea Up to 3/week Summer June Larnaca Transavia 1/week Summer April Lille Volotea Up to 4/week Throughout the year October Lisbon Transavia 2/week Throughout the year April Malaga Vueling 3/week Summer March Metz-Nancy* Volotea 3/week Winter September Minorca* Volotea 2/week Summer August Montpellier Volotea Up to 4/week Throughout the year October Munich Volotea 3/week Throughout the year September Nice Easyjet Daily Throughout the year March Olbia Volotea 2/week Summer August Palma (Majorca) Volotea Up to 5/week Summer June Perpignan Volotea Up to 2/week Summer August Prague Volotea 2/week Summer June Rome Transavia 3/week Throughout the year April Rome Vueling 3/week Throughout the year March Southampton Flybe Daily Throughout the year October Strasbourg Volotea Up to 5/week Throughout the year October Tenerife Volotea 1/week Throughout the year December Toulon Volotea Up to 3/week Summer June Valencia Volotea 2/week Summer August Venice Transavia 2/week Throughout the year December Venice* Vueling Up to 3/week Summer March Venice Volotea 2/week Throughout the year October * Routes to be suspended at the end of the season Contents Network Direct routes from Nantes Atlantique (in late June 2013) 60 direct scheduled routes - 18 domestic routes - 33 european routes - 9 international routes 53 direct charter routes 15 scheduled airlines 10 Contents Network Nantes Atlantique Airport New direct routes for 2013 from Nantes Atlantique 2013: cautious growth forecasts (as of May 2013) Destination Airline Frequencies Season Start date in 2013 Ajaccio Transavia 2 to 3/week Summer 15th April Ajaccio Air Corsica 2/week Summer 16th April Antalya Transavia 1/week Summer 20 April Fes Ryanair 2/week Summer 24th April Figari Air Corsica 2/week Summer 7th June Florence Volotea 2/week Summer 2nd June Fuerteventura Volotea 1/week Winter 22nd December Liverpool Easyjet 2/week Summer 5th July Palermo Volotea 2 to 3/week Summer 26th April Antalya (Turkey) 11 Palermo (Italy) th Ajaccio (Corsica) W ith the outcome of the economic crisis remaining uncertain, and flights to Arab countries only gradually taking off again… All of these reasons lead Aéroports du Grand Ouest to be cautious about 2013, with growth forecast to be around +6% - the equivalent of the average annual growth at French airports – reaching 3,870,000 passengers. Several new routes are already planned for the coming year: - Palermo, Florence and Fuerteventura with Volotea (who will be proposing a total of 19 destinations from Nantes Atlantique). - Ajaccio and Antalya with Transavia (14 direct routes in all). Florence (Italy) Liverpool (England) - Liverpool with easyjet, as well as London Gatwick becoming an all-round service (4 times a week) and an increased number of flights to Lyon, Geneva and Basel Mulhouse, from the winter of 2013/2014. - Fes with Ryanair (an overall network of 4 direct routes). - Ajaccio and Figari with Air Corsica, a new airline using Nantes Airport. Please note: the Air Austral airline has decided to concentrate their business on Paris by suspending all its routes from provincial cities, which explains why the flights to Reunion Island stopped on 17th January. Fuerteventura (Canaries) Fes (Morocco) Contents Passenger traffic Nantes Atlantique Airport Exceeding forecasts F rom 960,390 passengers in 1992 to 3,631,693 in 2012… On average over the past twenty years, passenger traffic has grown by 7% per year at Nantes Atlantique Airport. Well beyond all the forecasts and national and European averages, the year 2012 ended with growth of 11.87% (as a reminder, the forecasts in the public interest document from 2008 concerning the transfer of the airport only forecasted this level of traffic in 2015). This healthy growth rate is largely down to an increase in scheduled flights of 17.92%, and in particular those to European destinations, which have seen an increase of 38.51% (with 20 new direct scheduled routes to leading European cities). The domestic market has also been healthy with an increase of 11.48%, thanks to a widening of the flights on offer in terms of their number, frequencies and price. With a growth rate of +11.33%, international traffic has finally recovered, although growth is still rather timid with Morocco and Tunisia, and the healthy situation for Montreal, the longest running international long-haul flight from Nantes Atlantique. Only charter traffic saw a fall of 6.22% in 2012. Part of the charter traffic has shifted to low-cost companies like Transavia, Volotea and Vueling, who now offer a range of scheduled routes with more flights available for short breaks and increased possibilities for inbound traffic. In spite of this fall, Nantes Atlantique still remains the 1st French regional airport for charter flights. 12 2011 2,427,684 2012 2,862,796 Change 17.92% 1,558,770 1,737,714 11.48% 1,125,416 1,311,020 16.49% 394,266 403,423 2.32% 39,088 23,271 -40.47% including – Scheduled flights to EU cities 580,183 803,630 38.51% including – Scheduled international flights 288,731 321,452 11.33% Other flights that are not scheduled Charter traffic 28,938 701,418 24,613 657,791 -14.95% -6.22% 21,605 321,314 358,499 19,709 318,853 319,229 -8.78% -0.77% -10.95% 3,158,040 88,186 3 246,226 3,545,200 86,493 3,631,693 12.26% -1.92% 11.87% PASSENGER TRAFFIC NUMBERS Scheduled traffic including – Scheduled domestic flights including Provincial cities including Paris including French overseas territories (including Switzerland) (outside of the EU and Switzerland) including - Domestic - EU - International Total (excl. through traffic) Through traffic Total (with through traffic) Traffic by sector in 2012 19% Charter Scheduled/Charter 19% Charter airlines By type of airline 50% Traditional scheduled airlines 31% Low-cost scheduled airlines 1 million extra passengers in 3 years Domestic, European and international Top 20 destinations (number of passengers in 2012 – Arrivals and departures) 403,423 335,459 328,906 173,526 161,036 128,346 109,561 104,596 93,612 81,904 London (Gatwick + City) Montpellier Madrid Heraklion Strasbourg Tunis Casablanca Palma Majorca Monastir Antalya 81,599 73,515 69,225 62,130 59,678 59,567 53,406 51,310 49,173 48,785 51% European and international 49% Domestic Local passengers Local passengers Paris (CDG+ORY) Lyon Marseille Toulouse-Blagnac Nice Marrakech-Menara Geneva Djerba Barcelona Amsterdam 81% Scheduled 28% Inbound Outbound/inbound 72% Outbound Contents Freight traffic Saint-Nazaire Montoir In the wake of Airbus Tons 2011 Nantes A t Saint-Nazaire Montoir, freight traffic increased by 21.80% in 2012, to reach 21,214 tons, chiefly to satisfy the requirements of the aeronautical industry. A new look Shoes checked I A n 2012, with the arrival of SSP, service provider in the bar and catering sector, some new names appeared in the terminal, while other shops were updated to offer an attractive, modern appearance. This is the latest concept from Brioche Dorée (Le Duff Group), with a surface area of 90m2 with 56 seats in Hall 3, offering the French version of fast food, to be eaten on the spot or to take away throughout the day. The 1.44: 1 representing the Hall number and 44 the number of the Loire-Atlantique department… A bar with a new design and a new range of products on offer, with bar service, and with snacks available to be eaten on the spot or to take away. The Terrasse: lounge bar with in door terrace overlooking Hall 2, to get a good view. The Grand Comptoir: Contemporary bar-restaurant inspired by the top brasseries with a new version of traditional cooking, which is modern, authentic and elegant. Open since March 2013. Café News: in the boarding area, a friendly place with a view out over the runway, with TV screens and fast charging "power kiss" for mobile phones. Snacks available to be eaten or taken away. Aelia - Duty Free: the main shop has been extended with a wider range of products and a new area in the boarding zone for your last minute purchases. The Relay Boutique has been modernized and extended with an area dedicated to travel, a place to relax and with the opening of a new area, "Discover Western France” dedicated to gifts, regional products, off the peg clothes, sweets… Luminance: new digital advertising hoardings have been put in place. 15 s you board, you will find 4 Shoe Analyzer Metal Detectors at the security check points, which are able to detect any suspicious metal objects hidden in your shoes (without requiring you to remove them). Nantes Atlantique is one of the first airports in France to invest in this equipment and test it to improve the flow of passengers making their visit as enjoyable as possible, while at the same time improving working conditions for airport staff. The "Smiling" campaign: putting quality first I n 2012, the Smiling campaign continued to mobilize all the staff and everyone involved at the airport around the question of the way passengers are welcomed and the quality of service. Many events took place during the year: Chocolate eggs were handed out at Easter, a jazz group was present for the Music Festival Day, macaroons were given to all passengers during the celebration of our 3 millionth passenger, Father Christmas was present along with a man making shapes out of balloons to contribute to the magic of the festive season… And there was also the special Yellow Jacket Day during which employees from all of the companies at the airport were mobilized to meet their passengers and talk to them over a coffee. This concept was later adopted by other airports in the VINCI Airports Group in France and in Cambodia. Getting closer via Internet I n 2013, Nantes Atlantique also innovated online with the launch of a new website and a new Facebook page, which is a gateway to the destinations that can be reached from Nantes, as well as being a fun place to visit around the theme of travel, and offering a means to promote the services on offer at the airport. The public enquiry concerning the Water act, took place between 21st June and 7th August, and resulted in the committee giving a favourable outcome on 24th October 2012. Two reservations were put forward: one concerning the calculation method for compensation for environmental impact, a first for a project of this size – and the second concerning the signing of a protocol agreement with the farming community to establish environmental compensation measures. At the conclusion of the inventory of fauna and flora, a request to be exempted from certain restrictions concerning the protection of some species was sent to the National Council for the Protection of Nature (CNPN) in March 2012, and that also received a favourable outcome on 5th July. Environmental decrees (protected species and Water act) will be issued by the Prefect of the Pays de la Loire Region at the end of the analysis carried out by the official services and when the conclusions are published by the committee of scientific experts set up by the government in late November 2012 to carry out an appraisal of the compensation method that has been put forward. It will be at the conclusion of this analysis and once these decrees are issued that the authorities will publish details of the schedule for the construction of the airport.
