Information - Sandsjöbacka Trail
Information With only a month remaining to the Sandsjöbacka Trail, here are some important information. In January you will get a shorter PM by email as well as one in your start-kit. OUR VISION Sandsjöbacka Trail was initiated to show the beauty of running from Kungsbacka just before dawn, through the Sandsjöbacka and Änggårdsbergen natural reserve to Gothenburg. We want the event to be modest and down to earth but also professional. Chocolate cake and happy volunteers at a few energy stations – inbetween them the particular mixture of beautiful nature and battle against the elements as it is to run in the winterterrain. We also want to have a welcoming atmosphear at the finishline, you should get the feeling of a proper arrival. START KIT Our possibilities to hand out start kits in conjunction with the starts are very limited, therefore we ask if you could pick-up your start kit at one of the following occasions: Sat-Sun Jan 9-10th 11-15 Team Sportia, Frölunda Torg Thursday Jan 14th 11-18 Team Sportia, Frölunda Torg FridayJan 15th 16-20 Slottsskogsvallen (26 km bib available only at start) Saturday Jan 16th 10.30-16 Slottsskogsvallen The start kit inludes, among others, race bib, chip, maps and, if applicable, t-shirt. If you cannot come at these occasions – be on time, well before start! For some, running fast is pure happiness and to compare times can be satisfactory, therefore we have a scoreboard. The rules below should be followed: They are there to make your day in the woods as safe as possible. REMEMBER • Participation is at your own risk • Be careful at road intersections, Swedish traffic legislation applies. Please use high-viz clothing. • It is obvious and mandatory to help other runners if necessary. • Always contact us, as soon as possible, if you drop out or leave the course (phone numbera can be found in this PM, on the map as well as on your bib). If you fail to notify us and we initiate a search and rescue operation, you will be charged the cost. • Behind the last runner, there will be sweepers who can assist in case of any difficulties • Phone numbers to staff can be found on both the bib and the map. LITTERING • All kinds of littering is strictly forbidden – deliberately littering will result in disqualification S PHONE NUMBERS If you drop out, please call any of the following numbers. Add the numbers to you cellphone before the race. They are also printed on the bib. Bild: Christopher Vonasek STM 2016 PM v 1.0 ENG 2 Equipment The mandatory equipment is for your safety – a warm runner who is forced to walk and is low on energy can quickly get into a life threatening hypothermia. The mandatory items listed below shall be presentable during the whole course (random checks will be made). Specified amount of liquid should be present at start – its containers should be available at all times. Mandatory equipment, 82 km Mandatory equipment 44 km • Map (distributed with the start-kit) • Liquid for 30 km (at least 0.2 l) • Energy (at least 250 kCal) • Extra underwear shirt or similar • Extra shell jacket or survival blanket • Dauer or similar elastic bandage • Whistle • Cellphone • GPS unit (handed out at the start) • Headlamp, Sunrise is around 8 (so 1½ h runtime is needed in the morning). To protect the tube, it can be good to wrap it in some insulating material such as neoprene. One can also blow back the liquid into the bladder. Try to get the backpack under your jacket so that it is heated by the body-heat. The same thing is valid for your hydration waist pack. On the hiking trails, our signs will tell you which of the many trails to follow. This The map is mostly a back-up, useful for instance if you miss an intersection. After severak hour of running it is easy to lower your eyes and lose focus. If case of an accident would happen, it’s also good to know where the nearest road is. Bild: Jon-Erik Olsson STM 2016 PM v 1.0 ENG 7 Partners BACKGROUND After many lonesome winter runs through Sandsjöbacka and Änggårdsbergens nature reserves, Sandsjöbacka Trail Marathon envisioned itself. The wild and beautiful nature so close to the city, the feeling of moving through the dark winter trails, through the sunset and through the low daylight is what we want to share with the running community. The race was created in 2011 by Kvarnbyns Löparsällskap in collavoration with the club sponsor W-R-T. Since then, the race has been carefully cultivated and in 2013 the finish was moved to Krokslättsvallen to enable better logistics regarding finish line, food, showers etc. During preparations for 2014 the club decided that the race had become too big for such a small running club and to secure the survival of the race (and the club) a unanimous desicion was taken to hand over the project to the creator of the course and his wife, Nedevska Coaching & Events.
