Trittenheim owes its
name to Johannes Trithemius, who was born in the
village in 1462. Towards the
end of the Middle Ages, he
was a noted humanist. He
was abbot of Sponheim
Abbey near Bad Kreuznach.

In 893, Trittenheim was
first mentioned in a document. However, the village
is expected to be older. The
menhirs “Eselstratt” and
“Galisberg” on Laurentiusberg imply a pre-Celtic human population.

Being surrounded by
vineyards, the village is situated right at River Moselle on a strait, elongated
land tongue formed by a
narrow loop of River Moselle.
The bridge spanning
across River Moselle was
built about 100 years ago.
Before that time, the river
could only be crossed on a
ferry boat. The two ferry
towers, the guide rope for
Moselle ferry boats used to
be attached to, date back
to these days. Their oldest
parts originate from 1740.
Trittenheim is famous
for its excellent wine varieties. Names such as Trittenheimer Altaerchen or
Trittenheimer Apotheke
make every wine lover prick
up their ears.

dinner on behalf of Hyundai Motors for more than 1,000
people. Tarps and pergolas ensure protection from bad
weather. This is where wine festivals are celebrated, the wine
queen is awarded, and the keys to the village are handed over.

Right at the banks of River Moselle – underneath the
head of old and new Moselle Bridge, nearby the ancient
ferry boat tower – is a perfect place for sitting together
The wine growers will set up and decorate plain trimmings, a stage and wooden pergolas as well as degustation stands for the festival.

Right in the heart of the village, next to school and kindergarten, this hall is equipped with theatre seats to accommodate about 150 people. The venue also provides
stage and lighting, satellite kitchen and foyer for meetings and festivities.
Located at the banks of River Moselle with a magnificent
view onto the vineyards of Trittenheim, the guesthouse
ran by the Oos family offers excellent cuisine (1 Michelin
star) and rooms in country style. The location is available
for small-scale seminars or receptions in the garden for
up to 100 people.

We have furthermore already used the gym of Trittenheim Elementary School for exhibitions (3 automobiles)
and conferences (with as many as 200 participants). Depending on the season, the school yard might also be
used.
