As in 2015, the New Year, 2016, has thankfully continued this trend. Customers could simply write a message on a heart and donate a minimum of 50 cents to FISH. R Grocery matched their donations. The total combined donation to FISH was $467.30! Thank you to all those who designated their United Way Dollars to FISH. This resulted in $1944.44 from the 2015 United Way General Campaign. FISH Supporters shopping on-line at Amazon designated a portion of the purchases’ prices to FISH, which earned $20.99. This may not seem like much, but with this money we can purchase 90 pounds of beef, chicken or pork at the Akron Canton FoodBank...WOW! Other Donations: Seven volunteers from Walsh University and Canton Central Catholic High School helped with Spring Cleaning of the pantry. Dr. Gabe Russo and Dr. Schikowski gave toothbrushes and toothpaste to distribute to all members of clients’ families during February - Dental Health Month ACME Fresh Market donated $710.51 as a result of the recent Community Cash Back program. Thanks to everyone that donated their register receipts to FISH! March 1 - May 15, 2016 Sponsor Drive - Individuals or businesses: Please consider being a FISH sponsor at one of 3 levels: $250 - Silver; $500 - Gold; or $1,000 - Platinum. The drive is early this year in order to get sponsors’ names on T-shirts for the 5K Run/Walk. The sponsorship recognition period will run from June 1, 2016 to May 31, 2017. March 6, 2016 - Free concert with canned donations to FISH - New Life Episcopal Church in Uniontown will host “Simple Gifts”, an award-winning folk music duo at 2:30 PM. Canned goods may be brought to donate to FISH. June 11, 2016 - The 6th Annual FISH 5K Walk/ Run will be at Lake High School track and stadium. We are pleased to announce that we have added two new events this year! Please see the flyer attached to this newsletter. We hope to have 200 participants so get your running, walking, or strolling shoes and feet ready for action! July 19, 2016 - The FISH General Meeting will be held at 7:00 pm @ a location TBA. All volunteers and anyone else interested in happenings within this organization are invited to attend. September 20, 2016 - 9th Annual Benefit Dinner will be held at The Hartville Kitchen. Tickets are still $25. This year’s entertainment will be by Harry “Canary” Arble, a local vocalist. This is FISH’S largest fund-raiser and we hope to again have a sell-out crowd.
