Application Performance Guarantee IPANEMA UNIVERSITY TRAINING CATALOGUE | E-LEARNING | CERTIFICATION TRAINING CENTRES | ON-SITE TRAINING Edition: January 2016 IPANEMA UNIVERSITY IINTRODUCTION www.infovista.com 1 INTRODUCTION While greater efficiency, better use of network resources and WAN Governance in cloud computing environments are regarded as crucial, training should be considered in the same vein. You chose (or will very soon choose) InfoVista’s Ipanema solution to align either your own or your customers’ networks with business application performance objectives, but are you properly trained to deploy, support and operate it in the most efficient way? Although very simple to operate, the Ipanema solution requires some knowledge and hands-on experience to bring you the greatest benefits: you need training. Already been trained?… but do you know the latest products and features (virtual|engines, multi-path ip|engines, SSL Optimization, WAN Security, SAM reports and many others)? This is what the Ipanema University is designed for: we provide a number of training courses (some of which are available in instructor-led, virtual class & live e -learning lab-based formats), workshops, as well as a variety of custom and online learning options, so that all your training needs can be successfully satisfied. Once you have been trained and have acquired some experience, take your chance with our exams: various Certification programs provide you with many advantages! This document contains most of the information you are looking for (including the price list – for yes, there is a price for it! But if you think education is expensive, try to estimate the cost of ignorance!) Yet, should you have any question or comment, please do not hesitate to contact us at: university@infovista.com. Partners The nine following profiles have been identified for our Partners (Channel Partners / Managed Services Providers / Telcos): Sales Installer Sales Product Marketing Application performance specialist Product Managers Administrator Pre-Sales Project Managers Pre-Sales engineers Network Architect Services Service Managers Professional Services 4 Technical Consultants System administrators Support Level 1 Technical Support Level 1 Help Desk supervisors Support Level 2 Technical Support Level 2 Application performance analysts IPANEMA UNIVERSITY YOUR TRAINING PROGRAM 1.2. Ipanema training offer (ILT, virtual classrooms, e-Learning) Ipanema training is organized into the following courses, available in: instructor-led training (ILT), virtual classrooms, that connect you to live ILT sessions and interactive hands -on labs from your desktop (with a headset). They have all the usual components of a traditional classroom – like the interaction between an instructor and students – and Voice over IP, and online chat is used to communicate. Learners are taken through training content using PowerPoint, whiteboards, breakout rooms and practical exercises and sessions are delivered in a modular format. This ‘bite -size’ methodology allows people to retain more of what they learn by minimising cognitive overload. Benefits: interactive, live and engaging accessed through a PC, removing the need for individuals to be out of the office: no travel nor expense delivered in ‘bite sized chunks’ – easy to absorb flexibility – scheduled to meet availability access to hands-on interactive labs to practice what is learnt access to resources, recordings and forums tutored web-based training (e-learning) – refer to the e-Learning section. The main training courses give access to certification exams: Name of the training ILT Virtual classroom eLearning ISE Ipanema Sales Essentials 1 day on-demand - - PSL Pre-Sales 1 day on-demand - - OTS Operational & Technical Support 5 days see our calendar 5 days on-demand 15 hours Advanced Support 4 days see our calendar 4 days on-demand - ASU IPANEMA UNIVERSITY YOUR TRAINING PROGRAM Certification ICSA Ipanema Certified Sales ICPS Ipanema Certified Pre-Sales Ipanema Certified Operation & Support Ipanema Certified Advanced Support 5 1.3. Your Certification program Various certification programs provide you with many advantages. Although not mandatory for everyone, we strongly recommend each one to take the certification exam that corresponds to their course. Who should take a Certification exam? Our Business Partners are requested to have a certain number of Ipanema certified experts (see 4.). End-users who want to test or consolidate their knowledge proficiency and professional value with this industry recognised Certification can take the exams too. Where and when can I take a Certification exam? Certification exams are on-line. You can take them any time in the year following the end of your course. How much time does a Certification exam require? Certification exams take between 30 min (ICSA) and 90 min (ICAS), 1 hour for ICOS. (When you take an exam, the remaining time is permanently displayed.) What is the path for Technical Certification? The path for Technical Certification is: OTS training ICOS certification ( ASU training ICAS certification) Which topics are covered? How can I prepare? Only the topics covered in the corresponding training courses are covered in the exams; which means that you do not need any further information. But conversely, covered in the exams will be questions concerning all topics covered in the courses; which means that you need a good knowledge and understanding of all of them, plus – for ICOS and ICAS exams – practical experience (indeed, OTS and ASU courses give very good guidance and knowledge, but true understanding only comes through experience). Are there practice tests? There are not thousands of different questions in Ipanema Certification exams, so we do not provide practice tests. The best practice you can get is in the real world anyway! What is the format of Certification exams? Certification exams are multi-choice quizzes, specific to each course. How many questions will I be asked? The number of questions depends on the exam: for instance, there are 30 in ICSA, 60 in ICOS. How many possible answers are there? How is the score computed? Single-choice questions allow one and only one answer to be chosen by providing radio buttons next to the answers. The grade for such a question can be 0 (bad answer) or 1 (correct answer). Multiple-choice questions allow one or more (possibly all) answers to be chosen by providing check boxes. The grade can take any value between 0 (bad answer) and 1 (correct answer): partial credit is given for each correct answer, but choosing all options will not necessarily result in good grade. But more importantly, whatever the question, you should always read them very carefully! Can I skip questions? Although not recommended due to the time constraints, it is possible to skip questions: just click on the Next button; then you can come back to these questions at any moment, by clicking on the List button. IPANEMA UNIVERSITY YOUR TRAINING PROGRAM 7 Can I pause the exam? No, after you start, you cannot pause the quiz, and you cannot take it twice without requesting a renewed access (see below). So you are strongly advised to close your email, switch off your phone and take the test in a location where you will not be disturbed. What is the Mastery score? You will pass the exam if you get 70% or more correct answers. Your overall score and your score for each topic will be displayed at the end of the exam. Can I see what the exam and questions look like? If you open the exam and then close its window without clicking Start Test, then you will not have taken the test. So you can read the instructions on the first page and take the exam later on. Regarding the questions, here is an example of a question you may be asked in an exam: When does Application Control trigger? Ο Ο Ο Slightly before congestion occurs At the exact moment when congestion occurs During the next second after congestion has occurred I have attended an OTS or ASU class: am I ready to take ICOS or ICAS Certification exam? ICOS and ICAS Certification exams are meant to prove that the delegates have acquired a suitable level of expertise on the system, which requires practical experience. So attending a course may not be enough: it is only through practice that you can fully master the Ipanema solution. I have attended a course on SALSA version X, but the quiz is based on version Y: is it a problem? The course is always a bit ahead, in terms of versions, so as to show the attendees what’s coming soon. This is not a problem, yet, most questions being version-independent (concepts etc. remain the same). Moreover, a course on SALSA v[X+1] does contain all the information needed for a quiz based on v[X]. There are version-related questions only when a new version brings a new feature (such as SSL optimization in v8), but this will only concern people who take the quiz based on v[X+1] a long time after they attended a course (still on v[X]), which is not recommended. And even in that case, it should not be a big problem, as the questions on the new feature will only represent a small percentage of the total. How can I access a Certification exam? You will be granted access after you have completed the applicable course. ICOS Certification access is granted on demand, after attending an OTS class (ILT or e-Learning). Can I take Ipanema Certification exams several times? By default you cannot take Certification exams several times; however, should you fail by only a few marks, you will get a second chance: just ask us for another try. This being said, taking the exams over and over again won’t help (the questions are randomly selected from a large pool, so you will not be asked the same questions every time). If you do not yet have the knowledge and experience required, taking the exam again until you pass, eventually, without working on the system, is not recommended. How expensive are Certification exams? Certification exams are included in the price of a course. What is the validity period of Ipanema Certification? Every certification is valid for two years. In order to ensure that our certified Partners are keeping up to date and current on the latest Ipanema features and software versions, InfoVista requires that the following steps be taken towards renewal of your certification, ideally prior to your expiration date: proof of a significant experience with the Ipanema solution, and to pass the certification exam again. 8 IPANEMA UNIVERSITY YOUR TRAINING PROGRAM 2. Training labs and materials OTS and ASU courses are made up of both theoretical and practical parts. To achieve practical exercises, InfoVista provides a fully equipped training infrastructure (Ipanema Appliances and software, servers, routers, traffic generators…) comprising 5 independent labs, each one including 3 interconnected LANs. Up to two attendees can use each lab. For remote courses, the training labs are usually accessed over the Internet through SSL connections (see 6. On-Site Training and 6.4. Remote access to our training labs below). Our training materials are provided on USB sticks, so attendees are kindly requested to bring their own laptops to follow the presentation. For remote courses, their laptops will also be used to run the exercises on our training labs. Our training materials are only available to trainees and are not for sale. 5.4. Training calendar OTS and ASU training courses are scheduled at least every other week. Please refer to the training calendar on our web site (www.ipanematech.com > Services > Ipanema University). Other courses are scheduled on demand. 5.5. Hours - Meals Attendees are welcome as of 9 am, and the training courses begin at 9:30 am (10 am the first day of OTS and ASU training) and conclude at approximately 5:30 pm (3 pm the last day of OTS and ASU). Lunch and coffee during breaks are included in the cost of the training when conducted InfoVista facilities. 26 IPANEMA UNIVERSITY IPANEMA TRAINING CENTRES 6. ON-SITE TRAINING 6.1. Dedicated courses Training courses can also be dedicated to a Customer, in their own premises, for 5 attendees or more (up to a maximum of 10). In this case, the training date and location are jointly agreed according to Customer requirements and to InfoVista availability. When dates and location are decided for a session, the Customer places a purchase order indicating the number of attendees, language, date and location of such session. InfoVista then confirms to the Customer reception and acceptance of the order. 6.2. Languages We deliver ISE and PSL training in English and in French. We deliver IFB, OTS, REP and ASU training in English, in French, in Spanish and in Portuguese. 6.3. Requirements To conduct on-site training in the best conditions, the class will need 5 PCs for 10 delegates (we have five training labs, where the delegates can work in twos), with admin level access and with access to SALSA server through an Internet connection (see Remote access to our training labs below). The bigger the screen resolution, the better (1280 * 800 as a minimum). Your Firewalls must allow HTTPS and scripts. Note also that in some cases, when using shared wireless LAN connections, our students have experienced increased access delays to SALSA. So we recommend that a wired connection be provided. The instructor will also need an Internet connection to SALSA, and a video projector and a whiteboard (not a flip chart) plus pens. Note: we would like to let you know about a problem we often come across with on -site training: as the attendees are at their office wit h their laptops, they oft en access their emails during the course. As they are not listening 100% they ask questions that the instructor has already gone over, which can lead to the course being a lot longer than was scheduled, and they sometimes miss key content. We therefore politely request that they be advised not to do so to enable them to concentrate on the course for the benefit of all. Thanks for your understanding. IPANEMA UNIVERSITY ON-SITE TRAINING 27 6.4. Remote access to our training labs Training labs are important for OTS, REP and ASU courses to reinforce the theory. NB: the procedure below, describing how to access our Training labs remotely, should be tested by the delegates BEFORE the training course, on the laptops or PCs they’ll be using during the course (admin level access is required) and with the same Internet access as they will have in the training room, so as to make sure everything is working fine (firewall settings, etc., may need to be changed). Paris training labs Establish an SSL VPN to our SALSA server: https://84.14.141.123/platform/ (only IE is supported) If you see a Certificate error, click on “Continue to this website” to continue. The logins / passwords will be provided to you prior to the course or upon request. Once the SSL tunnel is established you should see a padlock icon on your Taskbar; by hovering your mouse on it, you should get a “connected” message. Open SALSA client in your web browser: https://10.254.0.125/salsa/ (you can use IE or Firefox) If you see a Certificate error, click on “Continue to this website” to continue. End of the procedure at the bottom of the page. London training labs Establish an SSL VPN to our SALSA server: https://ipanema.commelius.com Allow all Java scrip or Pop ups. The logins / passwords will be provided to you prior to the course or upon request. Once you have logged in, an additional small Java based VPN application is automatically installed – if it does not automatically start, click on the Start button for the Thin Client Application. Depending on your security settings, several warnings and pop-ups may appear that require you to click accept/continue - if you have any issues then please check your Internet security levels. Once the installation and connection have succeeded, a pop-up window appears with a completed table. Leave this window open (minimised) while you are accessing the Ipanema remote Labs. Open SALSA client in your web browser: https://127.0.0.1:4901/salsa (you can use IE or Firefox) If you see a Certificate error, click on “Continue to this website” to continue. End of the procedure below. End of the procedure (common to both labs) In the SALSA login window that has appeared, enter the Username and password: test / test (new credentials will be provided to you during the course). Check that you have access to the main components of SALSA: click ip|boss and check that the main page is correctly displayed, then quit (using ip|boss’ Quit button), click ip|dashboard and “play” with it to check it’s working fine, then quit, click ip|reporter, browse the folder structure on the left till the last level, click a report’s name when they appear and check it’s correctly displayed. You can now log out of all clients and connections (Quit / Logout buttons). Once you have completed this, or should you have any issue, please send us an email: university@infovista.com. 28 IPANEMA UNIVERSITY ON-SITE TRAINING 7.
