• Fluent in the use of computer graphic applications
such as: QuarkXPress, Adobe Photoshop,
Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Microsoft
Word, iPhoto, iMovie, Keynote, and Pages. Also
able to do HTML Source Code and work in
Dreamweaver.
• Accomplished designer having won ADDY awards
for my company in 1990, 1992, 1993 and 1994.
• Accomplished photographer having won a 2nd
and 3rd place in an Illinois Times Photo Contest
in 1988 (photo was run on the front cover of
the contest issue). Photography exhibits of my
work in St. Louis Centre in 1991, Springfield
Department of Transportation in 1992, St. Louis
Metropolitan Building in 1993, and Springfield
College in Illinois in 1994.
• Volunteer design work for Habitat for Humanity
– Sangamon County from 2002-2003. Designed
their Web Site and publications for their annual
50/50 Drawing.

Graphic Arts Instructor, Capital Area Career Center, Springfield, IL — 8/99–present
Teach 11th and 12th grade students graphic arts job skills in a “hands-on” environment. Prepare weekly lesson
plans, classroom assignments, and tests. Work with a yearly budget, anticipate supplies needed, and place orders
accordingly. In addition to grading, set up job internship experiences for students. Responsible for the student design and update of the Center’s Web Site and office forms. Manage Enterprise Printing (a student-based company)
from inside the classroom. Member of the Public Relations Committee and Technology Committee.
Graphic Designer, Illinois Department of Public Health, Springfield, IL — 12/96–7/99
Prepared public relations programs for the agency, such as news conferences, health conferences, and special
presentations. Designed and updated the agency’s Web Site. Consulted and managed external graphics agencies
that develop department publications and trade show displays. Dealt with outside printers to obtain estimates and
quality control for print jobs. Coordinated the translation of agency materials into languages appropriate for target population groups. Tracked and recorded print order numbers for all documents printed by the department’s
print shop.
Owner and Operator, Springfield Digital Color, Springfield, IL — 9/94–12/96
Took orders and provided estimates to clients. Printed out large-format graphics in full-color. Graphics were
mounted and laminated for client displays, banners or posters. Set up and ran the billing process using Quickbooks. Provided invoices and monthly statements to customers. Ordered supplies and entered all bills, wrote
checks and reconciled the checking account. Kept profit and loss figures along with monthly sales figures. Collected and kept track of payments made by clients.

Was responsible for the supervision of up to three graphic artists which entailed delegating work, overseeing
designs, keeping jobs on schedule, and hiring freelance artists when necessary. Kept track of jobs and provided estimates to the account executives. Directed photography shoots and oversaw and coordinated the printing of jobs.
Graphic Arts Illustrator, Office of the Secretary of State, Springfield, IL — 9/86–4/90
Designed and produced graphics for the office’s booklets, pamphlets and office forms. Did paste-up and layout
and masked and stripped negatives (including four-color process). Kept track of all incoming job orders, when
they went out for proof, when they returned, and when they went to press. Kept files of completed jobs, their
original artwork and negatives. Developed black and white 35mm negatives and processed prints. Shot and processed line negatives.
