Waller weekly news AUGUST 30, 2013 Hidden Kisses pricks her ears past the post in front of her fast finishing stable-mate Royal Descent. Warwick Farm provided a fair track on Saturday and one that staged another successful day for the stable with three winners and our bevy of resuming stayers in the G2 Warwick Stakes all performing well and most importantly, pulling up well. Three of our winners this week boast the (NZ) suffix and all are great examples of the promise horses can deliver with patience is applied. The other, Hidden Kisses, was an astute purchase at the Magic Millions as a yearling, costing just $25,000 and having now reaped her owners just shy of $550,000, she promises even more value now as a broodmare having secured black type in winning at Group 3 level on Saturday. Although we get plenty of publicity as purchasers of successful European stayers, we ensure we cover all of our bases by stocking the stable with horses for all courses. Our 2013 yearling sale purchases will hopefully unearth a Karaka Million runner and some classic race stars next season, Magic Millions candidates, and Inglis Bonus race horses. In the NSW Racing magazine it was pointed out that we trained the top 2 BOBs earners last season in Oompa Loompa and Relaxed and Happy and with our Melbourne stable waiting to hot up we look forward to our Super VOBIS eligible horses stepping out down there. While the sales season is fairly concentrated, all the while, we’re on the look out for promising types that catch our eye with the likes of Saturday’s winner Zataglio being a relatively inexpensive purchase from New Zealand in May and who in his first, short Australian prep has preformed above expectations. We have another exciting time lining up at Rosehill tomorrow. Click here for the fields & click here for the weekend preview. Wishing you all a safe and successful weekend, the team at Chris Waller Racing. INSIDE THIS ISSUE WINNERS BOBS, GETTING READY FOR SPRING & 4 TRACKS 4 KIDS PHOTOS LoremWALLER Ipsum RACING – WINNERS THIS WEEK CHRIS LUCRIPETOUS Lucripetous has most definitely found form and on Saturday at Warwick Farm, he recorded his second win in a row. Again aided by a good ride by Nash Rawiller the improving son of Pentire confirmed his class and justified his long-term aim of the Sydney Cup in the autumn. Having pulled up well, he’ll stay in the stables for another one or two runs at restricted level while he can, allowing him to continue to perfect his race craft ahead of his lofty sights. ACAPELA With her connections flying her across the Tasman to get away from the wet NZ winter, Acapela repaid their generosity when she saluted first over 1600m at Warwick Farm on Saturday. Brenton Avdulla, a deft hand at dealing with quirky mares, positioned her well, in the second half of the field with cover, and on entering the straight, the strong daughter of Elusive City let down to put 0.5 lengths ahead of herself and a field of seasoned Sydney gallopers. Lucripetous HIDDEN KISSES Having her second run for the stable, Hidden Kisses made it two from two and added some valuable black-type to her pedigree with her Group 3 Toy Show Quality win. With race fitness on her side, the tenacious daughter of Hidden Dragon staved off a late challenge from fast finishing stable-mate Royal Descent who looks on track for her spring assignments. Acapela ZATAGLIO Zataglio rounded off his first Australian preparation in the best possible fashion, putting together all he’s learnt in his four starts to win over 2400m in fine style. Having arrived in Sydney in June, he hasn’t put in a bad run and has improved each time out. By Waikato Stud’s Cox Plate winning sire Savabeel (Zabeel), he looks a promising stayer in the making and now heads to the paddock for a bit of Aussie sunshine and a well-deserved rest. This week we have gone through the 70-odd 2yos in our system and made sure that those that are eligible are nominated for BOBs 2013. To be eligible for the lucrative bonuses the sire must be paid up and the nomination fee of $990 paid. We encourage all owners to nominate their horses for BOBs and this week Liam’s been busy canvassing our individual owners to enter their horses while those purchased through CWR that are raced by syndicates are entered by the stable. Last season the stable provided the top two BOBs earners with Oompa Loompa (pictured right jumping for joy at the prospect of an extra $20,000 for winning) and Relaxed and Happy. To find out more about BOBs and BOBs Extra scheme, visit the BOBs Website GEARING UP FOR SPRING RACING… TOUR THE NEW RANDWICK Everybody has an opinion on the new look Royal Randwick and love it or hate it, it’s here to stay. Unlike Liam, we don’t all get a junket to the Chairman’s Room and while at the races it’s hard to take in the full compliment of facilities at the grand new structure so the ATC are running exclusive, access all areas tours in groups of 20. The tours take two hours and are concluded with refreshments. Click here for more information on this unique opportunity. GET YOUR OUTFITS SORTED As we look towards the spring carnival we will try and give you a few tips on what’s in for the season. Fashion tips: black and white is an eternal classic come race time and pastels are another spring race classic. Ann Shoebridge Milliner Website The latest edition of the 4 Tracks 4 Kids walk is set to kick off on 7 October. Richard Callander and co will step out from Warwick Farm in the wee hours of the morning and make the trek to the Sydney Children’s Hospital while swinging by every racetrack in Sydney. To date the charity has raised almost $1.5 million to benefit Australian children. As well as helping a very worthy cause the walk is a great way to meet some like-minded people as Kerrie and Haylie found last year. Visit the 4 Tracks 4 Kids Website for more information.
