TIFFIN ELKS A Fraternal Organization B.P.O.E LODGE 94 TIFFIN, OHIO ISSUE NO. 69 (419) 447-2818 SEPTEMBER 2016 Visit our website: www.tiffinelks.com & Like us on Facebook! GREETINGS FROM YOUR EXALTED RULER... As fall approaches, the kids head back to school and fall sports begin. Good luck to all area high school and college teams! The Elks activity and event schedule also begins to go in full swing. Be sure to check out the Trustee section for activities over the next few weeks. A quick rundown includes the kick-off to college football with all day build-a-burger starting at noon on September 3rd. The following weekend is filled with two days of Heritage Festival activities. Spots are still open for the 3/33 club for the NFL season. The Sportsman Raffle is November 5th. You should have received your tickets in the mail. Thanks to those that have already sold or purchased tickets. We are looking forward to an exciting evening with great food, prizes and raffles. As you may already know the Elks received another Façade Grant from the City of Tiffin. We received the maximum amount of $10,000 and will be using that money to replace the 3rd floor roof. This is a necessary repair to protect our original Lodge room from water damage and maintain our historical building. The Lodge will also be spending over $10,000 towards this roof replacement. I believe the officers have done a great job at being fiscally responsible and have prepared for this type of expense. This is also why our members and the events we host are very important to our existence. Whether you stop in a couple times a week, come down for dinners, or support events like Heritage Fest and the Sportsman Raffle it all adds up. Thank you for your continued support of our Elks. Be on the lookout for some other upcoming events. We are hosting the Columbian Football Team for “Feed the Team” night on September 8th. Our annual Veterans Appreciation Dinner will be on November 9th with the meal prepared by Sentinel’s Culinary Class taught by Valerie Zeno. We are also looking at several other ideas including another Dueling Pianos evening or a casino night. Before we know it the snow will be flying and we’ll be discussing holiday events and New Year’s Resolutions! Forever in Elkdom, Michael Frisch, ER FROM THE SECRETARY... September is here, and soon summer will turn to autumn. I hope you are all will join us during Heritage Festival weekend. Between the live music, parade and breakfast, and children's corner, we are going to have so many great things happening at the Lodge. A number of people have communicated to me that they are not receiving mailings from the Lodge, and I have had a number of letters sent out returned to sender with no forwarding address. If you have moved in the last year, or have any concern than we do not have your current address on file, please email me at secretary@tiffinelks.com or call the Lodge. At the time of writing, we have 41 remaining delinquent members. Please send your dues in soon. If you do not have your statement, please message me, or you can just mail in your check to the Lodge ($92 or $48 for Lifetime Members) with your member number in the memo. Respectfully Yours, Carl Hess, Secretary Tiffin Elks Lodge 94— September 2016 Newsletter Page 1 FROM THE TRUSTEES… * Wednesday Meals * 09/21 BIRTHDAY DINNER Chicken Paprakosh Chef: Sharon Gosche SEPTEMBER EVENTS: Sat, Sept 3rd: Build-A-Burger Celebrate the return of College Football!
