1st Annual Southtowns Art Trail
The Southtowns Art Trail held on November 15th connected art centers, exhibits in public spaces, and schools in Evans, Hamburg and the Lake Shore Community. The Centennial Art Center and Evans Art Guild co-sponsored this new event to build an awareness of art in the community. Art enthusiasts came out to check out some or all of the Trail sites to learn more about the public art available and the many talented local artists and their work. Members of both organizations exhibited their work at the CAC Schoolhouse. The Lake Shore Public Library featured the CAC Fall Members’ Show. The Southtowns Art Trail is looking to expand the number of sites to include artist studios, more schools, and more businesses in the coming year.

From the President
Around the Schoolhouse When we think of the Holiday Season, quite often we want to give special thanks for the richness in our lives and for our family and friends. In the spirit of the season, I would like to take this opportunity to wholeheartedly thank the Board of Directors and all the volunteers and their families for their help with the many projects and endeavors this past year.
• Mark Your Calendar
The next CAC Members meeting is Thursday, March 26 at 7:00 p.m. at the schoolhouse.
A special thank you to Evans Art Guild for their guidance with the Southtowns Art Trail, a new event for the CAC. I would also like to thank the Lake Shore Public Library for their hospitality and assistance with the CAC Members Shows.
CAC member Sandra Swanson is currently exhibiting at the Ten Thousand Vines Winery until the end of December. The winery is located at 8 South Buffalo St., Hamburg and will feature a limited edition wine label of the artists work available for purchase. Bottles from previous artists are still available. They would make a great Christmas gift. Proceeds from the sale of these bottles bene¿t the CAC.
It has been a pleasure working with all of you this past year. I look forward to working together in the new year and continuing to make the Centennial Art Center a vibrant organization.

Hamburg Library Project
A big thank you to all current CAC members. Your membership means a great deal to us. As the old saying goes: an organization is only as strong as its members.
CAC Membership runs January-December, which means that it is time to renew for the up coming year. Please take the time to ¿ll out the form on page 3.
Dave Lesinski will be resigning as Membership Coordinator as of Jan. 2015. If any member is interested in ¿lling this position, Dave will be very
happy to work with this person. This is something that can be done at home. No experience needed. All that is needed is a computer and a few minutes of time each month to keep the membership roster up to date. As Dave says, “Not exactly brain surgery.” Please contact Mary Ahrens (649-0740) or Dave Lesinski (941-6785).

A community art event was held on Oct. 25 at the Swan Auditorium at Hilbert College to create a piece of public art for the new Hamburg Public Library addition. Library Director and CAC member Jack Edson conceived the idea. “I wanted to have a public art event that could involve the community in art,” Edson explained. Charles Clough, a Buffalo-born artist, was asked by Edson to be a part of the event and agreed to help supervise the community in painting a mural to adorn the library’s new rotunda. CAC members Sharon Gleason, Diane Noody, Jack Edson, and Diane Manual were among hundreds of participants in the 8-hour creation of a collaboratively made painting. Clough encouraged the participants to use his technique of “big ¿ngers,” to pour large amounts of paint onto the canvas and
smear it in an abstract way, to approximate ¿nger-painting,
but on a larger canvas. The mural will be an exciting addition to the much-anticipated renewed Hamburg Public Library.
