Many selfless acts of volunteerism, dedication or bravery under duress go unnoticed. This is a chance to give those people the recognition they deserve from the community, which has benefited from their actions. Below are the awards, which will be presented at the Chamber’s Annual Meeting of Members, Installation of Officers and Award Ceremony held at the Bella Collina Towne & Golf Club on Thursday, February 18, 2016. This is your chance to help the unsung heroes of our city get the appreciation they merit. Lifetime Achievement-Qualities which are taken into consideration in choosing a recipient for the prestigious “Outstanding Lifetime Achievement Award” include: The recipient must live in San Clemente; their service to the community includes acts of heroism, humanitarianism or charitable and other “outstanding service” throughout their lifetime. The service performed must be voluntary and over the nominee’s lifetime. Nominations are encouraged from individuals and organizations. Nominating Committee Recommends Slate for Board Election Citizen of the Year-This award is presented to a recipient that resides in San Clemente, has served the community through acts of heroism, humanitarianism or charitable and other “outstanding service.” Service performed must be voluntary. Meritorious service must be within the last year. Nominations are encouraged from individuals and organizations. The 2016 Board Nominating Committee has recommended the following slate of candidates to serve as Chamber Board members: Nancy Hunt-Keller Williams Realty, Don Kindred, Kindred Associates, Viet Tran, Southern California Edison and Stavros Lozano, Inka Mama’s Peruvian Cuisine. Additional names of candidates for directors can be nominated by petition by securing the genuine signatures of at least 10 percent qualified members of the chamber by November 10, 2015. CURRENT NOVEMBER 2015 Business of the Year-This award goes to a business which is a member of the San Clemente Chamber and is involved in the community through in-kind donations and service hours. They must have high business standards, including innovative progress techniques, support of business, customer service, ethics and image. Nominations are taken from the membership at large. Only Chamber members are eligible for this award. Educator of the Year-This award is given on a rotating basis, where a different level (elementary, middle and high school) is honored yearly. Nominations are encouraged from individual and organizations. Note: Private school educators are also eligible.
