~ LIFE MEMBER ~
GERARD ANTHONY (GERRY) KENNY
Gerry died peacefully in his home after a courageous battle with melanoma. Devoted husband to Liz Kenny. Loved father of Allison (Kenny) Armstrong and her husband Gavin, and Brian Kenny. Proud Grandfather to Lauren and Ila Armstrong. Brother of Mary and Michael Johnson,
Anthony and Sheila Kenny, John Kenny, Lauri and Peggy Kenny, Niall
Kenny and Jacinta O’Toole. Brother-in-law to Kean and Donna Smith,
Dave and Michelle Smith, Derek and Kathy Smith, Laura and Todd
McKelvie. Nephew to Reenie Fenelon and Phyllis O’Byrne (Sister Teresina) of Ireland. Predeceased by his parents Larry and Maura Kenny and
sister-in-law Breeda Kenny. Gerry also had many nieces and nephews both
in Canada, United States and Ireland.
Gerry was born in Tullow, Ireland. In 1970, he and his brother Laurie immigrated to Canada together.
Gerry enjoyed a successful career in the insurance industry and was a partner at Gamble Insurance.
Gerry lived life to the fullest and enjoyed every day. He loved playing and watching rugby, and was a life
member of the Sarnia Saints Rugby Club. He was a member of the Sarnia Golf and Curling Club and Palmetto Golf Club in Aiken, South Carolina. A proud highlight of golf for Gerry was when he played a
round at Augusta National. Working with thoroughbred horses and watching them race, was a lifelong
passion of Gerry, and he was co-owner of champion sprinter “Glanmire”. He spent many hours on Lake
Huron boating, watching the freighters and enjoying a few libations.
Over the years he served his community by being on the Board of Directors of St. Clair Child and Youth
Services, and Habitat for Humanity. Gerry will be missed by many close friends.
A memorial mass will be held July 1, 2012 in Tullow, Ireland.
Donations to Patient Recreation Therapy at Bluewater Health, St. Clair Child and Youth Services, Habitat
for Humanity, or St. Joseph’s Hospice would be appreciated by the family. (cheques only at the funeral
home please). Memories and condolences may be sent online at www.smithfuneralhome.ca

Sarnia Women Saints Rugby Kick off Season with a win
Article by Sarniasports.com
The Sarnia Saints Women Rugby team hosted the Norfolk Harvesters for their season opener Saturday May 26th at Norm Perry Park and won with a final score of 54 - 7.
"I'm really quite pleased we had a mixture of new and old girls, some rookies and established players." Said Coach Sean Keene who has been coaching the women's team for the last four years. "it
was nice to see a game plan come together."
The ladies dominated most phases of play as Sarnia opened up with a 35-0 lead by half time. Some
crunching tackles were delivered by Shelane Stuart and Briane Belanger.
The second half saw Norfolk regroup to score a try and conversion. The Saints rallied and scored 3
more tries to close out the game.
Tries scored by Carleigh Lalonge with 3, Katelyn Anderson, Lauren Wilks and had 2 and Daria
Keane and Brianne Belanger scored singles. Lisa Oleniuk had seven conversions for 14 points.
Player of the match was Lauren Wilks .
"The depth is coming nicely, pretty positive. I've very please with the outcome today, it's really
good to see" said Keene.

The season has arrived! The senior men's and women's sides have started their
schedules. The men have gone 0-2 on the road against Ajax and Barrie but look to
rebound against Oshawa in the home opener. June will be a busy month for them
with four matches, two at home and two on the road including a bus trip to
Peterborough. The women started strong at home with a convincing win against
Norfolk and look to stay on top of the standings when they travel to face Norfolk
again. Other matches this month for the women will include Bruce at home and away to
Wilmot. U18 dates have been announced and will start in July so be sure to check the
website to stay updated on the program and standings. I hope to see everyone out at
The home opener on June 2nd to cheer on our teams.

FUNNIES
‘MARK’
To mark a ball, the player
must be inside his own
team's 22m line. The mark
is performed by a player
making a clean catch and
shouting "Mark!"
This young player was
informed, by his bestfriend, to shout out his
own name if he chose to
mark the ball and so he
did. This resulted in this
player getting laid out by
the opposing player. Can
you name this player?
