THE PEACE AND LOVE FESTIVAL
WORK CAMP
7 June - 12 July 2016
PeaceWorks Sweden have the honour to invite 10 international volunteers to be part of the yearly Peace and Love Festival
(P&L) in Borlänge, Sweden. P&L is a music festival based on the concept of Diversity, Understanding and Solidarity attracting
more than 20 000 of visitors each year. Top musicians and artists from Sweden and all over the world are performing and lots
of exciting activities and workshops are held during this three day long festival.
The P&L organisers are looking for 10 international volunteers dedicated to spreading their culture and to motivate young
people to participate in activities related to democracy, human rights and diversity. Their main working area will be around the
“Action Square” which is an arena for young people to express themselves and for spreading knowledge about other cultures
and perspectives of the world.
Where?
Borlänge, Sweden.
When?
Tuesday 7th of June – Sunday 12th of July 2016.
Participation fee.
200€ to be paid in cash to the work camp coordinator upon arrival in Borlänge.
Arrival.
Borlänge central station 2 pm on Tuesday 7th of June. See travel indications below. A team of P&L coordinators and a
PeaceWorks coordinator will receive the volunteer group at the central station in Borlänge to introduce and welcome them.
Departure.
Sunday evening around 4 pm you will be able to leave the camp. Book your return flight ticket later in the evening, not earlier
than 8 pm.

Volunteers’ profile.
The volunteer is expected to
be social and have the ability to actively make contact with people
like and be able to work in a group and cooperate
love organizing and taking initiatives to create social activities
be eager to learn about other cultures
be socially sensitive to different cultures and different people
have a good level of English to be able to talk, explain and understand the visitors and the co-workers.
arrange their own trip to and from the work camp.
Age .
16-25 years old.
Tasks of the volunteer.
Establish the Action Square arena together with other volunteers; decorate, install tents and equipment and other practical
things.
Engage and invite festival visitors to take part of the Action Square activities.
Dismantle the area (Sunday) and help cleaning up.
The participants are expected to work in one or two groups depending on the activities.
Independently invent, make and manage workshops and activities related to the themes of the festival.
Volunteers are expected to be present at the Action Square-area and be active during their working shifts.
There will be a budget to buy some material for your activities, if you would need it for the workshops for example. Volunteers
will be received by a P&L coordinator and also by a PeaceWorks coordinator who will introduce them to the work camp, the
festival and to the organisation of PeaceWorks.
Accommodation.
Dormitory in a school hall shared with other work camp participants and volunteers. Shared bathrooms and showers.
What to bring?
Sleeping bag and a good sleeping mat/camping mattress. Comfortable clothing, water proof shoes, warm jacket or sweater,
rain poncho or jacket, towel and swim wear (if you want to take a dip in a Swedish lake!).
Food.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner is provided every day. Please report to PeaceWorks Sweden if you have any food allergies.
Rules and guidelines.
The volunteer should follow the rules and regulations of Swedish law and is expected to follow P&L organisers’ rules of the
work camp.
Alcohol.
The use of alcohol will not be permitted during working shifts and/or in and around the Action Square area.
The use of alcohol under the age of 18 is forbidden.
The use of drugs is strictly forbidden. Volunteers that do not comply with the above mentioned rules will be expelled from the
work camp.

Availability for persons with functional variations.
The festival area is adjusted to visitors using a wheelchair. However, the organisers cannot guarantee that accommodation will
be adapted to all functional varieties.
Other useful things to know.
Volunteers arrange their own travel and tickets to and from Sweden.
Volunteers are recommended to arrange their own travel insurance.
Members and volunteers from PeaceWorks Sweden will be present at the P&L Festival in the PeaceWorks tent close to the
Action Square.
After work shifts you will be able to go to concerts and join other activities of the festival.

How to get there.
By plane and train. The closest international airport is Stockholm Arlanda airport, situated 2,5 hours north west of Stockholm.
From Arlanda airport there are trains to Borlänge C. For information and to buy a train ticket to Borlänge C, please visit:
www.sj.se (click the flag for English). You need to buy the train ticket online. If you buy a train ticket at Arlanda airport it can be
very expensive and there is a risk there are no tickets left.
Buy the train tickets online early to avoid high prices. You can find reduced prices for students/youth. Be sure to bring your ID
or passport.
If flights to Stockholm are too pricy try other airports like Malmö, Göteborg or Copenhagen (Denmark). From these cities you
can go by train/bus to Borlänge. For trains: www.sj.se. For buses: www.bus4you.se or www.nettbuss.se. Please, be sure to
have in mind the time between connecting flights and trains. Please note that there can be delays in transportation between
Copenhagen (Denmark) and Sweden because of new Visa and ID controls at the boarder.
How and when to apply.
Last date to apply for the Peace and Love Festival Work Camp is Monday the 18 th of April.
