Employer branding and graduate recruitment online, in print and in person
Product information 2016
“
I don’t need to tell any of you about the
positive impact that gradireland has made in Ireland
over the years, providing an outstanding service to
graduates and employers alike. In doing so, they have
forged links between our industries and businesses,
our professional bodies and our academic
institutions. I often think that if we didn’t have
gradireland we’d probably have to provide a state
body to do the same job – and I suspect it probably
wouldn’t be done half as well as gradireland does it.
Minister for Business & Employment, Gerald Nash, speaking at the
gradireland Graduate Recruitment Awards, 30 April 2015

Access gradireland’s unrivalled student and graduate database
excels as a specialist website as it
allows both in-bound traffic (students and graduates
accessing the website to search for jobs, employers,
careers advice and more) and out-bound
communication. Our database of over 200,000
registered students and graduates enables us to send
targeted messages out on behalf of employers. And
because our brand is trusted and our database is
created by students setting up their own profile and
being in control of the information they receive, our
out-bound communications are highly effective.
➜ Response We have average open rates of 35%,
and often as high as 50% or more, when emails
are sent to a carefully targeted subset of our
database.
➜ Trust We ensure we only send our registered users
information they want and value. We do not spam
our database.
➜ Targeted Out-bound communications back up
online, print and event activity perfectly. Let
students know about your new online profile; tell
them when you will be attending an event; advise
them of closing dates or open days.
There are a number of ways in which employers can
use our database to send targeted communications to
students and graduates, and these are outlined on the

to know about your firm and how to improve their chances of landing that job with your firm.

“
gradireland is a fantastic resource for
targeting graduates. We have worked with the
gradireland targeted email on many occasions as it
offers the potential of targeting by sectors (such as
sales and marketing). The email also reaches a
highly relevant audience and this is reflected in the
open rate of the emails. A relevant reach and
friendly team. Colin Devenny, Blue Cube Interactive
Do you need to engage with students to let them know about your
upcoming deadlines or to market an immediate vacancy? Do you
need to market your attendance at an upcoming careers fair? If so,
then a targeted email to our database will ensure that the right
students have the most up-to-date information on your graduate
opportunities.
Competitions Bands D, E or F
If you have a competition offering or special offer for students, this targeted email will ensure the best
response to not only market your company and brand, but also drive entries and click throughs to
complement your campaign.
Use the gradireland database for brand or product research
Early engagement/internships Bands D & E
Student research Bands A, B or C
With internships becoming increasingly important for students as
they make their career choices, as well as for employers in creating
and developing a talent pipeline, the internship mail is a costeffective way for you to communicate the benefits of your
internship programme to relevant students and to encourage
them to apply ahead of your closing deadline.
Are you looking to gain an insight into how students perceive your brand or products? Are students’
opinions important to you? If so, connect directly with students and graduates in Ireland’s largest student
database through a research-based questionnaire and let their views inform your marketing plan.

David Broderick, Manager of Ibec’s Export Orientation programme (EOP) talks about his own career to date, the challenge
of running a major international programme and the fundamental necessity of hard work.
Managing Ireland’s longest running
graduate placement programme gives
me an enormous amount of personal and
professional satisfaction. It’s fascinating
and challenging to keep the programme
evolving and delivering to meet the
needs of employers and the ambitions of
graduates.
Of course ambitions need to be grounded
in reality, and the reality of hard work,
which is something I’ve always realised
during my own career to date. I come
from a family where hard work, and
entrepreneurship, was always around me.
A few years after I was born my mother
started the company that is now Broderick
Brothers bars in the basement of our house
so I’ve always been aware of the realities of
running a business. It’s been fascinating to
watch that business grow and develop into
the international operation which it now
is, and I’ve learned a lot from the family
connection to that business.
But I always wanted to pave my own
path, and to be honest I’ve always been
a hard worker. When I was in school I was
working in the local Centra supermarket in
Terenure, where I was given an incredible
amount of trust and responsibility
considering my age. Business was always
the area where I wanted to work and after
my Leaving Cert, I went to do a degree
in Business Management in IT Tallaght.
I thoroughly enjoyed the whole college
experience, it was a practical course
and there was so much else in college to
become involved in. I was very busy in
so many regards, from organising nights
out to becoming involved in the Students’
Union. When you take the skills I was
learning in college and match them with
the commercial experience I was getting
from working in Centra, I was gaining a
lot of the skills that are used on a day to
day basis in my current role with Ibec.
Things like commercial awareness, the
importance of customer service, all skills
that I was constantly using in through my
̈“iʈ˜ÊVœi}i°ÊÊ>ÃœÊܜÀŽi`ʜ˜Ê̅iÊ£ÊۈÃ>Ê
programme during my summer holidays,
so I’d built up quite a bit of good practical
work experience.

iiVÌi`Ê̜Ê̅iÊ«œÃˆÌˆœ˜ÊœvÊi«ÕÌÞÊ*ÀiÈ`i˜ÌÊ
of the Student’s Union. This full time
position was the start of a fascinating
year. I learned so much, about everything
from making and executing strategies
to meeting with senior management,
handling disputes, queries and crises. It
was great to have the responsibility and
the autonomy that we had, and we got
some important work done. For instance,
during my time in the role we successfully
lobbied for and fundraised for the
establishment of a crèche in the college,
something which is of tremendous and
lasting benefit to both students and staff.

There are a huge range of stand options available, to
suit all budgets. However, stand positions are booked
up very early so we would encourage you to contact

Specialist zones help direct students within the hall.
Each fair also features Jobs Walls throughout the hall.
These display live opportunities for students which
they can apply to directly (over 3,500 live jobs were
advertised at the October 2015 gradireland Graduate
Careers Fair). This is a key factor in driving student
attendance and they are carefully positioned to ensure
consistent footfall around the hall.

gradireland National Student Challenge
More on
Check out the challenge for yourself at
gradireland.com/challenge
“
Now in its fifth year, the National Student Challenge is
a unique event from gradireland. It combines online
assessment of the business acumen of students in the
top universities in Ireland with Final Day event-based
challenges in order to identify and recognise Ireland’s
brightest and most able undergraduates.
The students who take part in the online assessment
are ranked on an overall leaderboard. The top 60
students then progress to a Final Day contest where
they complete a series of challenges which are created
in conjunction with cut-e and which reflect partner
companies’ recruitment criteria and core
competencies. The overall winning students receive
cash prizes and each challenge also produces its own
individual winner.
“
It’s great to see employers supporting this type of
competition and getting some engagement with students.
That’s probably the most important thing.
David Galbraith, National Student Champion 2012
We have been really impressed by the standard of
students here. Some of them seemed to have the complete
package; brains, personality and charisma. It’s great to see.
Susan Murdock, Graduate Programme Manager at Bank of Ireland (BoI)
