Prabhu Nearly three f loors of the new 24-story Hilton Grand Vacations timeshare property on Ocean Boulevard in Myrtle Beach are complete and construction still is on schedule to be complete by May 2015, according to the building’s contractor. T he Hilton Grand Vacations Club will sit on the stretch of beach between Schooner II Beach and Racquet Club and Boardwalk Hotel on North Ocean Boulevard. T he project is estimated to cost $41.5 million, according to the documents provided to the city. Glenn Williams, vice president with Columbia-based Landmark Builders, said winter weather slowed down construction a bit. “We anticipated a little bit of weather,” he said. “We got a f ew more days than expected, but it didn’t af f ect us signif icantly.” Williams said 4,000 cubic yards of concrete have been poured at the site so f ar. “To put that in perspective, the whole total project is going to take 17,500 cubic yards of concrete,” he said. T he 220-unit timeshare is the f irst new lodging establishment to be built in Myrtle Beach since construction stopped during the Great Recession. No new hotels were built in the city since 2009. T he timeshare property will replace Beach View Apartments, which was torn down in August. Williams said construction will begin on a f ive-level, 410-space parking garage on Withers Drive in April and on a sales center across Kings Highway this summer. Contact MAYA T. PRABHU at 444-1722.
