Kalingastone Quartz surfaces are created from pure natural quartz, an extremely hard stone crystal mined directly from the earth. In fact, quartz is the
hardest non-precious stone that can be found on the earth's surface and
quartz can be used for commercial and residential flooring, airports, malls,
theatres & subways - areas prone to high foot traffic & weathering. Quartz
surfaces form a beautiful blend between modern sophistication and timeless
luxury and due to its ever-lasting finish requires simple and routine care to
maintain its beauty.

an American Original
quarried right here in the United States!
In a market typically dominated by foreign competitors, Alberene is the only supplier of American soapstone. Even companies such as Vermont Soapstone and Green Mountain, commonly thought to provide American stone, import their products
from Brazil.
The Alberene Soapstone Company was founded in 1888 after
large deposits of soapstone were discovered in the foothills of
Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains. By World War I Alberene was
one of the largest employers in Virginia.
The company’s holdings included 6,000
acres connected by a self-contained rail
system and a network of gondolas used
to transport men, machinery and product. The company’s early and long-term
success was based on its claim to
world’s largest supply of workable architectural grade soapstone.
… and it Sustainable!
 Zero chemicals during mining and extraction,
 No need for sealants
 Increases Temperature efficiency
 Low Carbon Footprint
 Reclaimed Blocks
 Minimal Waste
 Does Not Harm Air Quality

Kalingastone Marble is made

History of Alberene Soapstone:
The story of soapstone in central Virginia was set in motion millions
of years ago with the creation of the Lynchburg Formation. This geological feature defines the eastern side of the Blue Ridge Mountains
and contains within it the beds of soapstone that have over time influenced the economic history of Albemarle, Nelson, and Amherst
Counties, as well as the technical and industrial history of the nation as
a whole.

DESIGN HIGHLIGHT
Kitchen Makeover
using Realstone Systems
This recent kitchen renovation brings a clean calming elegance to the busiest room in the house. The stone veneer
walls and backsplash in White Birch are from the new Realstone Collection and create the elegant grey palette for the
space. The grey accents in the classic white kitchen cabinetry
tie in with the pale grey travertine walls and plank flooring.
The light monochromatic coloring of all the surfaces reflect
natural light and bring an airy feeling to the space. This contemporary space is finished off with a statement piece in the
form of the spherical white vent hood.
