Sports Update
Football has about 30 young men
participating this year and is currently 1-1
with a home win against Central Valley and a
road loss at East Butler.
Volleyball has 24 participants, is 3-2, and
showing great promise as they head into the
midst of their season.
Enrollment Update
We have an enrollment of 94 this year (23 freshmen, 23 sophomores, 26
juniors, 22 seniors). This represents an increase of 9 students from last
year at this time. There are 41 new students who have joined us (23
freshmen and 19 transfer students). We now have students from 10 states
and 4 foreign countries. We thank and praise God for the growth of our
school and for all of these precious souls that we get to tell about Jesus
every day!
How you can help NELHS
There are many ways that you can help support NELHS. Target,
AmazonSmile (www.smile.amazon.com), and SCRIP are just a few of
the ways.
Summer Work Day
The annual summer work day was held on Saturday, July 19. Many
thanks to the approximately 30 individuals who showed up to trim and
cut down trees, build retaining walls, clean out gutters, and wash
windows. This gave the campus a nice spruce-up in preparation for the
arrival of students in August.
Please join us for HOMECOMING! Reconnect with parents, alumni, &
friends of NELHS. Watch the Knights take on Harvard on the gridiron.
The date is Friday, October 3, & game time is 7:00 p.m. See you there!

2014-15 School Year Theme: “Living for Christ.”
Patience is a Virtue
September 2014
2 Peter 3:8-9 But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord
a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The
Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He
is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come
to repentance.
Each week at Nebraska Lutheran, the male teachers and pastors on staff
prepare chapel services under a theme for the year and a theme for the
week. This text came up this week under the theme of the week “Living
for Christ by being patient.” Patience is not usually a characteristic
many people possess a great deal of (particularly teens). In fact, in
today’s world, it seems like impatience rules the day. If we have to wait
a few seconds for a web page to load on our computer or phone, we get
irritated. If we must wait in line at the post office or a restaurant, we
grumble. If a relative, friend, neighbor, or business associate asks us for
more time to finish a task that we need done, we are disappointed. We
are impatient people.
Thankfully, God does not operate the way that we do. You see, every
day we test God’s patience when we sin. We deserve to be punished, yet
God shows us patience. This patience is demonstrated in the love he
showed us by sending his Son to be our Savior. This patience is
demonstrated in him sending us the Holy Spirit so that we come to faith
and know Jesus. This patience is demonstrated in the time he gives to us
to let us share this message with the world before He destroys it. So let’s
take this time and tell someone about our patient God who wants
everyone to be saved. Let’s tell them about Jesus.
Golfing for Tuition Assistance
We are thankful to the 52 golfers who joined us on July 26 for our
annual “Tee-it-up for Tuition” golf outing. Through their efforts,
$7,000 was raised for tuition assistance for our students in need this
year!
