Museum of York County thru January 17, 2010 The 23rd annual holiday ornament was inspired by “Now Let Me See…,” an illustration from the December 21, 1946, cover of Saturday Home Magazine. The portly Santa checking his “good & bad list” has been coupled with one of Grant’s trademark gnomes from a 1950 Gillette Razor advertisement. $19.98 Vernon Grant’s charming Santas, gnomes and village scenes have been a part of America’s Christmas celebrations for over 75 years, and their timeless popularity among young and old alike is an enduring tribute to his originality and creativity. Admission to the exhibit is free with Museum of York County general admission. Sponsored in part by the family of Our Three Sons Broadcasting, including WRHI AM/FM and Interstate 107. 2009 Vernon Grant Holiday Card “But Santa, I’ve Been Gooood!” Vernon Grant created this Santa in 1936 during the Great Depression when the pockets and purses of Americans were empty. This popular “empty pockets” Santa was featured as a Greeting Card for Art Guild Greeting Cards and later used by Mitchell Faust Advertising Company and F.W. Woolworth. $3 Made possible through the generosity of Jan and David Angel / Angel Insurance and Financial Services.
