Pirate costume instructions

f ye' wish ter be a genuine, swashbucklin', sea-farin', peg-leggin'
pirate ye be needing buccaneer's attire. Follow Pirate Sal,
seamstress of the seven seas' instructions to whip up gear
worthy of a captain!
Costume Part 1:
Instructions on how to build a Pirate Telescope, an essential to becoming a true
Pirate.
Spyglass- Telescope
For Ages 6 up
Heres what you will need:
Paper cup (the bottom of the cup needs to
be bigger than a toilet roll)
Toilet Roll
Paint and brush
Brown Paper
Scissors
Glue
Black Marker
Instructions for Constructions:
1. Paint your toilet roll and paper cup, whatever color you'd like your
spyglass.
2 Once they are dry trace around the toilet roll on the bottom of your
cup. Cut out the hole (this is where your roll will be inserted).
3. Next you need to make a ring out of paper. Trace around the
bottom of your cup. Place the toilet roll in the center of this tracing,
and trace around the roll.
4. Cut out your ring. It should look like the picture.
5. Spread some glue around one end of the toilet roll and glue on
the ring (the ring will stop the toilet roll from coming out of the hole
in the cup).
6. Once the glue is dry insert the tp roll into the hole in the cup.
Insert the end that does not have the ring attached.
Now you can move you spyglass-telescope in and out. Draw on
some black lines around your scope if you wish.
Another option is to wrap some plastic wrap around the top of the
cup; secure it with tape, and then cover the tape by gluing a strip
of black construction paper around.
Costume Part 2!!
Treasure Map:
Most of a pirates life is taken up by searching for treasure, therefore our next
possession needed to become a pirate is an old Map with will locate treasure.
You Will Need
Paper
Water
Coffee
Tea
Black Pen
Ribbon
Dishcloth
Paint bush
Sponge
Bowl
1) Lay a dish cloth
onto the table and put
your paper on top,
Now get a bowl of
water and add coffee
and tea.
2) Using your sponge cover the whole of the paper with the coffee and tea mixture.
This wil make your paper look old like a real pirate’s treasure map.
3) Scrunch the paper up and rip off the pieces from the middle too. You can even
make some small holes.
4) Using your paint brush paint coffee and tea mixture all around the edges. For n
old speckled effect flick the end of the paint brush onto the paper.
5) Once you are happy with it leave the paper to dry.
6) Now it’s time to think about your hidden treasure. Draw your map onto the paper.
You can add trees, roads, symbols. Anything you want but don’t forget the “X” that
marks the spot.
7) Now your treasure map is almost ready you just have to roll it up.
8) For a finishing touch tie a red ribbon around it. Now make sure no other pirates
get their hands on your treasure!
Hat:
1) Lay out a piece of newspaper on your work surface with long ends facing the
sides.
2) Fold the paper in half by bringing the top of the paper down to
meet the bottom.
3) Fold the top left corner down to the middle of the paper. Crease
the paper
4) Then fold the top right corner down to the middle of the paper
5) Fold up the bottom top piece of paper and crease
6) Turn the hat over and fold up the bottom piece of paper. Crease.
7) Lastly for an added touch added the
scull and cross bones logo to put on to
the middle.
Patch
The final touch to the pirate outfit would be the classic eye patch!
What will you need
Black Card
White paper
Elastic
Scissors
1) The first step is to make the patch, cut a curved triangle out of the
black card to a size just larger than your eye area.
2) Punch two holes in the top corners of the eye patch with your scissors.
3) Push the elastic thought the holes and tie in a knot to create the
band to go round your head.
4) Lastly draw a skull and cross bones on the white paper, cut it out
and then stick it on the eye patch.
