Have you called Viper Days yet?
We all put our seat belts on before driving away, don’t we? Of course!
When we drive Vipers, we have another duty: Viper Days! (No, it is not in the DMV Code).
Why Me you ask, after all I am a great driver myself!
Just one of many reasons: 17% of all Vipers end up totaled (pretty much one in six). Not
great odds and this is why we all pay a very high insurance rate on our cars, no matter
how great our driving record. In essence we are partially subsidizing the ones who total
their Vipers.
Viper Days consists of theory in a classroom setting and practice sessions on the subject of
performance driving, on a real racetrack. Drivers are split into different groups, based on
their skill levels so nobody will be in a mismatched learning environment.
The first day starts early, as a passenger with one of the instructors driving a few demo
laps to get you familiarized with the track and the ideal driving line, demonstrating proper
braking points, turn entry points, apexes and exit points, all very helpful by the time you
make your first foray onto the track yourself.
Instructors are top-notch caliber, racers themselves and they really helped me hone my
Table of Contents
performance driving skills to a fine finish, all in a totally safe environment. By my last driving session, I was on the track without the instructor, had no traffic in front of me for about 5 laps;
each lap, my time decreased by an average of 3 seconds over
the previous lap as I applied everything I learned from the instructors and got more and more comfortable and confident going faster and faster. It was a truly exhilarating feeling, certainly one of the best moments of my entire life. Within minutes, I morphed into an apex-inhaling junkie, sporting an irrepressible face-splitting ear to ear silly grin that could not even
have been surgically removed for the rest of the day.

Skip Thomas, founder of Viper Days, runs an incredibly sophisticated organization dedicated beyond belief to the safety, wellbeing and appropriate instruction in the classroom and on the
track of new and veteran Viper owners.
Attending Viper days will greatly put the odds in your favor of
not joining the 17% mentioned earlier and you will come away a
better, safer driver in full control of his awesome machine and
his ability to “Master the Beast”. Chances are that you will also

BEREA, Ohio – CORSA Performance Exhaust, an official sponsor of The Performance Driving
School, brings enhanced performance and appearance to the Jeep® Grand Cherokee SRT8,
Chrysler 300C, Dodge Magnum and Dodge Charger with high-quality, specifically tuned exhaust systems.
All CORSA exhaust systems feature their patented Reflective Sound Cancellation™
(RSC) technology, which delivers full-bodied, aggressive sound during hard acceleration and a
quiet resonance-free note at cruising speeds.
Grand Cherokee SRT8
To pump up the performance of this uber-Jeep, the CORSA SRT8 exhaust’s nonrestrictive design increases cold flow 17 percent compared to the stock muffler. It is constructed
from 2.75-inch diameter, mandrel-bent premium stainless steel tubing and features Twin ProSeries 4.0-inch tips.
300C, Magnum & Charger SRT8
The heart-pounding 6.1L HEMI-powered SRT8 versions of the 300C/Magnum/Charger
are enhanced by CORSA’s cat-back exhaust system, which features 2.75-inch diameter 16
gauge premium stainless pipes with 4-inch Pro-Series Tips. The system provides six to eight
additional horsepower and a 39 percent increase in flow over the factory exhaust.
300C, Magnum & Charger 5.7L
The CORSA exhaust system for the Chrysler 300C, Dodge
Magnum and Dodge Charger features 2.5-inch diameter, 16 gauge
premium stainless steel pipes
with 3.5-inch Pro-Series Tips.
CORSA’s nonrestrictive design
provides a 45 percent gain in exhaust flow versus stock.
These exhaust systems
are available through the MOPAR
catalog and DaimlerChrysler
dealerships. Learn more about

will also make many new like-minded friends during the event and meet many inspiring
people trackside.
How do I prepare my car for Viper Days? Here are some recommendations:
I strongly suggest an oil pan baffle on Gen I & II cars and a Competition oil pan with swing
arm pick-up on Gen III models. You may loose oil pressure on long sweeper turns and do
major damage to your engine (sadly, this seems to happen regularly during Viper Days).
Replace your brake lines with stainless steel units as this is much safer and will give a
more consistent brake pedal feel during hard driving. My last suggestion: a short throw
shifter, it will help immensely rowing through the gears (specially the tedious 2-3 upshift)
with more feel, precision and crispness.

Dayton, OH: Forgeline Motorsports has finalized testing and is officially releasing their popular competition wheel, the ZX3R, in 19” fitments. With the recent increases in factory wheel sizes on vehicles such
as the Porsche 911 GT3, Dodge Viper, and Chevrolet Corvette, Forgeline has stepped up to the plate.
Forgeline is offering 19” fitments in the popular ZX3R for those looking to maintain factory sizes on their
sports cars and for racers to take advantage of larger race tires.
Each wheel is built with forged 6061 T6 centers, 6061 T6 spun rim halves, stainless steel aircraft-grade
or optional titanium fasteners, and feature a powder coated or polished finish with a polished lip. The
ZX3R is available in sizes from 17x7.5 to
19x13. Since each wheel built to order, Forgeline can offer special features like custom offsets, and a
choice of center and rim finishes.
Dayton, OH: Forgeline Motorsports continues to expand its Premiere series line with the new SS3P. The new
SS3P takes its origin from the popular ST3P six-spoke design. The SS3P has six split spokes. This six spoke
wheels is a very balanced yet still aggressive style and steps away from the traditional five-spoke or mesh design.
Each spoke has been machined with bevel and chamfer unique to Forgeline.
In keeping with Forgeline’s racing heritage, each wheel is built with forged 6061 T6 centers, 6061 T6 spun rim
halves, stainless steel aircraft-grade fasteners, and feature a powder coated, painted or chromed finish with a polished or chromed lip and powder coated inner rim shell. The SP3P is available in sizes from 18x7.5 to 20x13 and
limited 22” sizes as well. Since each wheel built to order, Forgeline can offer special features like custom offsets, and an unlimited choice of finishes.

Inner Sill Clean-Up and Re-Installation of Exhaust System: If paint is damaged, you may want to
paint with high heat spray paint. Wipe clean with solvent first. Re-install exhaust system.
KoolMat Heat Shield Kit: Includes 2 shields, 40” x 19” each and 5 stainless steel ties for each
shield.
Continued on page 9
8
Heat Shield Shaping: Using a 5” heat pipe or similar 5” rigid tube available at most home improvement stores, gently roll the heat shield around the pipe to shape it into a tube. You may need to
crease the ends to help it retain the shape.
KoolMat Shield Installation: Wrap shield around exhaust system. Be sure to start shield approximately 5 inches beyond the widest point of catalytic converter, as close to exhaust elbow as possible –
see red arrow. (Development shield depicted – actual shield is longer).
Continued on page 10
9
Continued from page 9
Stainless Steel Tie-Wrap Installation: Stick the tie-wraps through the five grommet holes on only one
side of the sheet and wrap around shield. Use needle nose pliers or similar to catch end and to
pull tie-wrap completely around. BE SURE TO SLIDE THE SHIELD FORWARD AS DESCRIBED IN
STEP 9 BEFORE YOU TIGHTEN ALL FIVE TIES. Feed through clasp and pull it very tight – deforming shield slightly. Bend band onto itself and snip excess. Repeat on all five straps.
Installed KoolMat Heat Shield. Development shield shown – actual shield will be longer to cover
exhaust more completely. Re-install sill (without any factory shielding!!!). Repeat on other
side.
