Increase communities’ resilience and sustainability against natural disasters through building culture of disaster preparedness and resilience amongst all stakeholders Page 4 The Five (5) BRC modules Community Based Disaster Risk Management (CBDRM) School Preparedness Programme (SPP) Objective: To generate a culture of disaster awareness and response amongst school children, teachers and staff Objective: To provide a platform for communities to actively participate in disaster risk reduction activities, gain knowledge, skills and competencies in DRR and indigenous early warning systems are enhanced and used Programme Description: Conduct “Safe Schools” through SPP and advocating DRR responsibility to students and teachers Programme Description: Formulation of a Community Disaster Risk Reduction Management Committee (CDRRMC) and Community Action plans, village watching, sharing of experience CBDRM Community Based Disaster Risk Management Duration (per village) : 1.5 days workshop + 1 day of simulation exercise (within 3 months) Duration (per school) : 1/2 day workshop + 1/2 day workshop (within a break of 2 months) SPP School Preparedness Programme Resilient Hospital (RH) Local Gov. Objective: To increase and introduce hospital and its management to DRR and improve the hospital’s disaster preparedness and early warning systems through the implementation of DRM.
