TATRA TERRNO 1 TERRNO1 vehicles, which are the basic item of TATRA’s production range, are the most requested and sold product of this joint stock company. Commercial TERRNO1 models include a wide range of trucks with a unique concept which gives the vehicle excellent driving characteristics not only on roads but particularly on heavy terrain and in adverse climatic conditions. The cab-over-engine chassis and tippers from this model range are for commercial use not only on heavy terrain but also on standard roads. An important part of the TERRNO1 models is a chassis that can be used as a platform for the superstructures of other producers such as mixer trucks, concrete carriers, tank trucks, fire trucks, mobile cranes, urban service trucks, log trucks, container carriers, box bodies, special-purpose bodies, platform trucks, tippers and agricultural bodies. All vehicles comply with Czech and European legislation and the engines meet the EURO 4 emission limits. Engine EURO 4 engines The Tatra T3D-928 is a four-stroke, turbocharged, V 90° engine, bore x stroke 120 x 140 mm, direct fuel injection and a charged air intercooler. The engine has an intake air heater to improve starting and reduce emissions during cold starts. The vehicle also has a system that subsequently treats the exhaust gas; this replaces the exhaust silencer and helps it comply with the stringent nitrogen oxide and solid particle production requirements. It includes a particle catalytic converter and an SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) set controlled by a separate electronic unit. The set consists of a tank, an injection device for the carbamide and a catalytic converter. Engines for countries with lower legislation requirements TATRA – the T3B-928 and the T3C-928 engines Cummins (ISM, ISL) and Caterpillar (C)* engines with liquid cooling system * only available on special request Clutch A 430 mm diameter, single-disc clutch with a membrane spring and hydraulic control with air operated booster. Transmission, additional gearbox Booster drive from the clutch from the transmission from the additional gearbox Steering Left-hand or right-hand compact servo steering. Axles Independent suspension swing axles with lockable axial or inter-axial differential. All wheel drive with front drive that can be disengaged, with wheel hubs with or without reduction. Brakes TATRA 14TS210L fourteen-gear transmission Fourteen gears give a higher gear ratio that can be used when driving so that the engine revolutions are better suited to the required speed. This results in lower fuel consumption and higher road speed. The transmission itself has five gears and input electro-pneumatic two-gear reduction activated by a switch on the gear lever. All gears are synchronised except reverse and the special low-speed gears which are marked C (Crawler) and used to move the vehicle if it gets bogged down. The additional gear box has two gears with double-cone synchronisation which has a fully automatic electropneumatic control activated by the gear lever movement. This original „TATRA“ transmission solution uses the principle that two high-speed gears (four gears if the input reduction is deployed) are engaged twice. Once with the engaged low-speed reduction of the additional gearbox and once with the engaged high-speed reduction. This design gives 14 forward gears in addition to two reverse gears. TATRA 10TS180 ten-gear transmission This has ten gears, all synchronised except first and reverse. The additional gearbox has two gears that can be engaged when stationary. KING FRAME – light version With PERROT brake expander, automatic brake shoe adjustment and ABS anti-lock braking system. The braking system is fitted with noise dampeners. Service brake – dual circuit, overpressure braking system on all wheels. Emergency brake – spring braking system on both rear axle wheels with a link to the trailer brake. Parking brake – spring braking system on both rear axle wheels. Continuous service retarder – engine braking. Suspension Front axle torsion rods and telescopic dampers for vehicles with 4x4 and 6x6 drive leaf springs and telescopic dumpers for vehicles with 8x8 drive Rear axles combined – combination of air bellows assisted springs with inside coil spring and telescopic dumpers – light version of the KING FRAME – up to 11.5t per axle combined – combination of air bellows assisted springs and leaf springs – heavy duty KING FRAME -13 and 15t per axle (depending on the axle type) leaf springs – up to 11.5t per axle KING FRAME – heavy duty version Cabin Over-engine, all-metal, two-seat cabin. For maximum driver comfort even on the worst terrain the cabin is mounted on two suspension units with coil springs and hydro-pneumatic shock absorbers and secured by hydraulic locks. It has a hydraulic folding system. The cabin has been designed so that engines with a liquid cooling system can be installed if required by the customer. The cabin can be short, medium or long depending on the type of vehicle. It has a universal skeleton for both left-hand and right-hand steering. The instrument panel includes a DIAVIA integrated heating and air conditioning unit. The air conditioning together with efficient ventilators and the excellent air distribution system along the door windows keep the interior comfortable even in extremely bad climatic conditions. The cabin is available either with standard or optional equipment. The standard equipment includes a digital tachograph. Air conditioning and independent heating are available as options. An independent heater installed behind the driver seat keeps the interior warm and pleasant and helps to keep the temperature even. The customer can chose an independent heater of the type and output to suit their needs. Another useful item that helps to keep the cabin fresh is the pollen filter. Other items augmenting the ergonomics of the cabin include useful storage compartments in the instrument panel and on the engine bonnet as well as mats with a special easy-to-clean surface. Tinted glass, C.I.E.B. or GRAMMER seats and a temporary couch for a short cabin and a bed for a medium cabin are available as options. Identification of TATRA vehicles TATRA, a. s.
