1. Getting the core with grace under pressure
(3 hours)
Sign up to this exciting workshop where you will enjoy learning all about the myths of
abdominal training and the reality of the process to achieve a balanced body.
Today having good abs seems to be a clear indicator of being fit.
However, we need to be fit to train the physical qualities. These are certainly
important for the overall strength and global extensibility (articular, muscular and fascial).
Balance and coordination are parallel qualities that can be obtained over variations
of exercise routines and training.
Nowadays, the majority of methods addressing this common goal are overly focused
on aesthetic attainment. The most of commercial fitness outlets talk very little about the
real relevance of the abdominal cavity on one’s true health.
2. Exercises and cueing for regaining flexibility
on the upper quadrant (4 hours)
One of the biggest drawbacks of certain populations during exercise is the lack
of joint and muscle flexibility. At the level of the lumbar back region we observe
the anatomical, physiological and biomechanical characteristics that determine the
physical qualities of the trunk which allow us to recognize the most appropriate way
to improve flexibility and overcome certain limitations during training.
This seminar contains the introduction and development of manual techniques
and exercises, using Pilates accessories and apparatus. The applications are based
on biomechanics, anatomy, physiology, motor learning and practice of techniques
according to the Life Pilates principles of movement, scientifically adapted and
updated.
On this seminar we will teach 10 key exercises and variations on different
apparatus, accompanied by various manual techniques and cues.
3. L.A.F method for Cervical and
Temporomandibular Dysfunctions (3.5 Hours)
This workshop deals with the basic functions of the head and neck
muscles, explaining the most common diseases affecting this complex.
We will practice using the L.A.F method created by Juan
Castellano, to learn manual techniques and exercises that serve to
evaluate and correct the deviations that cause discomfort, pain and
affections of joints and nerve structures.
In this workshop you will learn basic movements and
techniques that can be used on a mat or on pilates equipment such as
Tower and Chair. Participants will gain proportional credits from this
workshop for the official training course of L.A.F method.
4. Life Pilates™ Method for back care
(3.5 hours)
Traumatic diseases affecting the spine are very prevalent nowadays and most of
the causes are of mechanical origin, resulted from a combination of support forces and
individual morphology.
Pilates trainers should be familiar with key aspects of the exercises to manage groups
of people who suffer regular episodes of back pain.
Theoretical and practical content of the seminar:
•
Mobility of the column
•
Forces affecting our tissues
•
Stability concept and functional mobility
•
Anatomical and biomechanical differences in the 4 segments of the spine
•
The 3 ”R” of Life Pilates
•
Sufficient stability in the basic movement and positional transfers
•
Pilates exercises for lumbar stability
•
Pilates exercises that provide greater overall flexibility
•
Pilates exercises to prevent pain in the upper quadrant
5. Life Pilates™ approach with
MASS® System (3,5 hours)
Life Pilates™ school teaches the original method
and it’s unique developed methodology. In our approach,
the benefits of global and segmental movements are
studied and taught to students from the contemporary
context of art of health.
This is definitely recommended for all who are
initiated in the study of Pilates method and also for those
who have begun with other schools and want to know the
Life Pilates™ course approach.
Our workshop manages presents the vision to
understand the history and evolution of Pilates and
master the handling of the original and evolved
exercises on the mat, including series and workout
routines with spring board and spine corrector, two classic pieces created by Joseph Pilates that offer a variety of
exercises that are useful in your studio by saving space and
versatility.
6. The chain of balance
(3,5 hours)
The lumbar -pelvic –throcanter complex is undoubtedly representing major complications at the time of study and analysis by specialist doctors and physiotherapists.
The most important mechanical failures are due to morphological causes, especially
changes in the lumbar sacral angles, the trochanteric -pelvic angles and foot abnormalities (prono-supination, flat foot, cavus foot).
Other reasons are due to genetic factors, aging, pregnancy, postpartum and lack
of physical activity.
This workshop will teach you to analyze the following aspects:
- mobility of the lumbar spine
- lumbo - pelvic rhythm
- associated rotations of the hip
- neutral position of the hip complex
- enough stability of the hip complex
7. Teaching the alignment
( 3,5 hours )
Attitude or fitness?
Body alignment depends on our skeletal muscle morphology and on the neuromotor
control of the global stabilizer muscles.
Posterior muscle chain is functionally focused on moving the trunk into extension,
lateral flexion and rotation.
When professionals talk nowadays about axial elongation most of them mention
just the multifidus or erect spine as primarily responsible, without taking into consideration the management of abdominal and thoracical pressures and their relation to proper
alignment.
In this workshop we will explain the concept of alignment and support of the body
burdens and what happens when they are out of alignment (they affect structures such as
cartilage, intervertebral discs and soft tissues by overloading or straining them).
This workshop is taught with a projection of images and videos in addition to the
practical part where we demonstrate techniques and exercises.
8. Life Pilates™ Method in Myofascial pain
( 3,5 hours )
This workshop explains the scientific causes of myalgia and what are the
most efficient methods and ways to address and treat pain.
A meta-analysis which compared different methods for treating pain will
be introduced. Aerobic exercise and strength are the most effective to alleviate
the chronic pain.
You will learn the Life Pilates principles and how to efficiently apply them
for persons suffering of MFP.
In the practical part some myofascial techniques are taught through
respiratory movements and body positions.
9. Ten key points you must know for the
shoulder girdle (3,5 hours)
This workshop teaches through the Life Pilates Method to assess the balance of the shoulder girdle. You will learn the main anatomical references for
facilitation. Also you will understand how exercises bring stability and proper
functioning, avoiding the uncomfortable contractions and tensions in this
quadrant.
The weak points in the shoulder giedle are explained in relation to the forces
of tension or compression.
10. Life Pilates approaches and treatments of
chronic pain syndromes affecting the lumbar
spine. (3,5 hours)
The purpose of this workshop is that participants recognize chronic low back pain syndrome, one of the most prevalent diseases. They will know the most common causes and
more efficient recovery methods for treating this syndrome.
Workshop Content:
• Classification and location of the lumbar spine injuries.
• Injuries caused by changes in the lumbar-pelvic-trochanteric complex.
• Post rehabilitation of low back pain.
• Exercises and protocols to rebalance the muscles that control the lumbar stability.
11. L.A.F Method: a new approach for the
traumatology of shoulder girdle.(3,5 Hours)
The shoulder joint complex have a high traumatic prevalence.
Considering the functional importance to perform precision handwork we recomand a
more global approach for the integration for the thoracic - scapular organization.
The main objective of this workshop is to offer an easy scheme through L.A.F
method, which will give you the ability to find and examine the joints of the humeral scapular complex. The workshop teaches you to facilitate the correct movement and handle
disorders that cause the medium and long term chronic nature of injuries.
Material: chair and reformer with tower
Methods: L.A.F, Pilates, Kinesiotherapy.
Contents:
•
Function and Biomechanics of the scapular girdle
•
Patho-kinesiology the scapular girdle and most common injuries
•
Approach and treatment with L.A.F techniques and Pilates
12. LifePilates® method in Rehabilitation and
post-rehabilitation of the knee (3,5 Hours)
This workshop provides an overview of the function of the knee and its importance
in the arthrokinetic chain of lower limb. You will learn to recognize the causes of the
most common knee injuries and how these have much to do with the deviation of the
physiological axis and the lack of stability (which produce tension, wear of cartilage and
injuries).
Methods: L.A.F., Pilates, Kinesiotherapy
Contents
• Knee Biomechanics
• Knee Patokinesiology
• Approach for patients with cruciate ligaments tear (pre and post surgery)
• Exercise instructions for patello-femoral dysfunctions
This workshop is indicated for both physical therapists and trainers with experience, who
can take charge of early knee mobilization, taking into consideration and respecting the
relevant clinical stages.
13. L.A.F method, a new approach to address
scoliosis (3,5 hours)
Scoliosis is a three-dimensional morphological deformation of the spine. It affects 10%
of schoolchildren, being the most developed Idiopathic disfuntion.
70% of idiopathic scoliosis require the treatment and follow-up due to its
deterioration and progression.
According to the Scoliosis Research Society there is no scientific evidence that kinetic
or manual treatment methods stop or improve the development of scoliosis
L.A.F is a new experimental method for the treatment of scoliosis. Taking in
consideration the individual cases it is showing favorable results.
L.A.F is a conservative method, non-invasive and governed by the laws of universal
principles of movement, respecting the biomechanics, adapting to the state of the function
and respecting the medical-clinical stages.
14. Biological bases of Pilates for
health (3 hours)
The biological bases of exercise represent the most
important foundation for professionals who want to have
discretion in prescribing exercise for health.
The Pilates method of exercise is a model that works
with a determined basis of intensity and frequency.
In this workshop we will clarify the most
important questions on how to develop strength and
aerobic endurance.
15. Principles and strategies for management
of mechanical dysfunctions with L.A.F Method
(3,5 hours)
The functional stability depends on the local and global muscle function
integration. Mechanical stability dysfunction is presented as segmental
(articular) and multi-segmental (myofascial). These dysfunctions are presented as
combinations of restriction of normal mobility and compensation, associated to
maintain the function.
The L.A.F method focuses on the management of myofascial compensation,
facilitating the stability of the local joint to control the segmental muscle movement.
Stability re-training targets both systems, local and global. Activation of local
stabilization system serves to increase muscle tone, causing a low functional load
which permits neutral integration into the common position for segmental or joint
control.
