HINSON LIGHTING CELEBRATES RETURN OF
CLASSIC ROBSJOHN-GIBBINGS SQUARE MARBLE TABLE LAMP
________________________________________________________________
Hinson is sparking its premier Lighting Collection with the re-launch of the
exquisitely designed Robjsjohn-Gibbings Classic Square Marble Table Lamp.
The Classic Square Marble Table Lamp was designed originally by T.H
Robsjohn-Gibbings for George Hansen in 1952 at the pinnacle of his renowned,
international career.
Long a favorite of the famed Florence Knoll, the only lamp ever displayed in her
Madison Avenue Showroom, the design is impeccable in its stunning simplicity.
A sculptural square column, in white or black marble, stands 27 ½” high and is 4”
at its base. Less, typically is more, in Robsjohn-Gibbings’ design concept. His is
the absolute understatement of elegance. It is one that continues to transcend
time. It works… no matter when or where.
In selecting marble to translate his design, Robsjohn-Gibbings chose a natural
material of extraordinary strength....one with elemental, tactile appeal.
Once
quarried and hand-polished to a quiet, yet opulent patina, it is enhanced by
veining, unique only to the specific piece of marble. Each sculptural lamp is an
individual expression, possessing its own intrinsic unique beauty.
Robsjohn-
Gibbings achieves an amazing, unified balance between his purity of design and
the natural quality of marble.
The lamp abounds in application possibilities. It is appropriate paired for side
tables. It is dramatic standing on top of virtually any piece of furniture. Mrs.
George Hansen noted that this was the lamp most avidly sought after by
architects and designers alike throughout the 50’s and 60’s. It has been absent
from the market for over the past 30 years.
The Robsjohn-Gibbings Classic Square Marble Table Lamp, with on/off pull
chain sockets, is available with round or square white linen or white translucent
shades. Both the black and white marble table lamps are combined with bronze,
matte nickel, polished brass or polished chrome. The white marble lamp is also
available with hand-rubbed bronze. At a suggested net of $580.00.
