HayBoss has become a leading name for precision equipment for the baler market. 2008 saw the Massey Ferguson large square baler become applicator ready from the Hesston factory. In 2011 HayBoss entered the UK and Irish market giving the hay producer a highly accurate and flexible system utilising the latest in precision application technology and Baler’s Choice preservative. It is also commonly used by straw baling operators to clear fields more quickly allowing tight rotational timings to be followed. In 2013 HayBoss was launched into various European markets ready for operators to benefit from all the advantages that precision HayBoss equipment offers. The latest HayBoss development is full integration utilising ISOBUS technology ready for fitting on new balers and also retro fitting to pre-owned balers with suitable ISOBUS compatibility and the option to use your iPad® to control the system through Bluetooth. All 100 Series non-ISOBUS balers can utilise an iPad®. FROM MASSEY FERGUSON HayBoss www.masseyferguson.com 4 Technology for all farmers producing hay and straw The latest HayBoss equipment is based around a precision moisture meter, and now offers ISOBUS compatibility with extra high output systems for the highest capacity balers or the option to control the system using an iPad®. Depending on the operator’s requirements Baler’s Choice preservative will allow hay and straw to be baled at higher than normal moisture whilst still maintaining quality. The marking of high moisture bales and the full traceability of the bales is possible with HayBoss. GPS yield mapping compliments the options for the growers who utilise combine yield mapping and variable rate fertiliser application. HayBoss has been developed to withstand all the demands of modern agriculture whilst delivering increased baler output and producing the highest quality hay and straw with the use of Baler’s Choice preservative. 5 If you want consistent quality of your hay and straw then utilising the right equipment is essential. HayBoss is suitable for all sizes of baler and is a market leader for moisture accuracy and moisture range application equipment and traceability. HayBoss with Baler’s Choice preservative offers you the best FROM MASSEY FERGUSON Being the best means using the best product www.masseyferguson.com 6 Completing the baler package ● Designed and built by engineers with real field experience in Wisconsin, USA ● Leading edge technology ● Consistent moisture accuracy from 8% to 72% on large square balers, 8% to 60% on round balers and 8% to 32% on small conventional balers ● Quality bales produced with Baler’s Choice Preservative ● High moisture marking ● Bale traceability on large square balers from field to end user ● GPS yield mapping ● ISOBUS compatibility linking directly through the baler’s integrated ISOBUS system into the baler monitor of tractor ISO terminal ● iPad® option where ISOBUS is not required 7 FROM MASSEY FERGUSON Maximise your baler output with up to 30% more work per day Baler’s Choice Preservative is non-corrosive with a pH of 6.0, so that the machinery is kept corrosion-free and the operator handles a much safer product. Using Baler’s Choice will allow the operator to gain on average 30% more output per day, due to starting earlier and finishing later. In a good year or dry climate approximately 20% of the hay is still spoilt or sub standard due to moisture fluctuations in the crop. Most of the crop may be dry (below 16% moisture) but there will inevitably be some that is not and it is the damp crop which must be treated to prevent spoilage. The HayBoss system will continually monitor moisture and apply Baler’s Choice correctly, as moisture levels can fluctuate by up to 5% along a 100m swath. ● Baler’s Choice is between 2—3 times stronger than other hay preservative products on the market Baler’s Choice will keep your baler in good condition The main reasons why costs are higher when using substandard products: ● If the operator bales at a maximum of 80t/hr with a large square baler (4.7L/T of Baler’s Choice), with a weaker product at three times the application rate per tonne, the output will be significantly reduced to 33t/hr ● Increased down time due to refilling tank more times per day ● Substandard acids and poorly buffered acid based products will corrode the baler and increase cost on wearing parts, such as bearings and pickup cams There is no substitute for the highest quality and low operating cost that Baler’s Choice offers every baler operator and end user! The Moisture Monitor is a read only system that links directly through a compatible baler’s CANBUS system, utilising the baler’s power supply. The moisture meters are accurate to within 1 percentage point and are unrivalled in the field with a range from 872%. The moisture meter utilises two star wheels that penetrate the bale each side of the chamber. All Massey Ferguson 2100 and 2200 Series large balers are HayBoss ready from the factory. This means that the components that you want can be installed from new or retrofitted at a later point. If you wish to add additional HayBoss components at a later point, a companion kit will need to be installed to provide additional power to upgrade the Moisture Monitor system. Module 2 Moisture Pro is a ‘plugin and play’ moisture reading system that is able to accept any of the other HayBoss modules, in any combination, depending on your individual requirements without the need for a companion kit. Job records are fully downloadable with Moisture Pro. The star wheel is located behind the knotter. It takes a reading nine times per second and averages every three seconds for supreme accuracy. 600 Series Large Square ISOBUS Automatic Modules and Applicator FROM MASSEY FERGUSON Knowing your accurate moisture is important - what next? Module 3 The Bale Marker is the easy and cost effective method to mark the bales that have high moisture spots. The Bale Marker is linked directly into the Moisture Pro system, if you are using Module 1 Moisture Monitor remember to ask for the companion kit. Once the alarm point has been set by the operator, the Bale Marker will spray a red food grade dye onto the bale flakes that have moisture readings above the alarm point. Marking high moisture bales allows the operator to store only bales within their preferred moisture range. All the marked bales can be stored separately as the quality of these high moisture bales will be reduced and so they will dry out and not damage surrounding bales. If high moisture bales are stored with the preferred moisture bales this will cause the preferred moisture bales to spoil as well, due to moistures equalising in the stack. Dye Spray marking is a sure way to keep unwanted moisture from the stack helping the operator to maximise returns from good quality forage and straw bales. Bale Marker tank 9 Straw bale marked when the alarm was set to 27% clearly showing the operator that this bale is too wet to be stacked with the rest of the Baler’s Choice treated straw from this field. A hay bale marked when the alarm was set to 27%, showing the middle section is within the preferred moisture range, while the end flakes were above 27% moisture. www.masseyferguson.com 10 600 Series Large Square ISOBUS Automatic Modules and Applicator Easy and efficient way to treat high moisture crops with HayBoss applying Baler’s Choice Preservative Module 4 The HayBoss Applicator can be ordered as a complete unit with moisture meter included. Adding the applicator module to your moisture meter allows you to automatically apply the correct amount of Baler’s Choice preservative on those higher moisture bales. The system will not only keep track of the moisture levels of the bales, but will also display and record the amount of preservative being applied and also how much was used per individual bale. HayBoss is automatically paused, using sensors on the pickup, when no crop is entering the baler. HayBoss needs bale weight and length to calculate baling speed in order to accurately adjust to changes in crop conditions throughout the day. Filling and drain point Crop Detection The ECU is the heart of the HayBoss system Controlled by the ECU, the system includes a 420 litre tank that mounts on top of the bale chamber, a three-pump system, a spray shield located in the baler’s pick up and all the pipe work and cables required to apply Baler’s Choice. Taking the moisture readings from the star wheels nine times a second, the automatic system adjusts the application rate every three seconds to match the condition of the hay or straw. This precision gives the operator the exact amount of product required to keep the crop in great condition without wasting Baler’s Choice. When a weigh scale is fitted to the baler, HayBoss will take actual readings to increase the accuracy further. HayBoss automatically adjusts the setting for bale length when the baler is fitted with electronic bale length. Utilising two spray tips per pump, with the option of three spray tips for baling up to 100 tonnes per hour When HayBoss is fitted to 100 Series balers or non-ISOBUS integrated machines, then the operator uses bale length sensors on the moisture star wheel and also estimates bale weight. 420 litre tank with three pumps 600 Series Large Square ISOBUS Automatic Modules and Applicator FROM MASSEY FERGUSON Traceability for better feed utilisation and inventory control Module 5 The Tagger can be added to the HayBoss Moisture Pro system or the complete HayBoss automatic applicator, taking hay and straw producers and their operations to the next level. This system allows operators to take the specific bale information gathered by the ECU and transfer that information directly to the RFID tag, which is attached to the twine. The valuable information on the tag is read with a scanning device and displayed on the scanner’s display. The tag does not have to be in visual contact with the scanner, as the system works via RFID frequency. The scanner can be hand-held, mounted on a tractor or loader, or even set up as a portal scanner that an entire load can drive through. The bale information is written to the tag as it leaves the bale chamber. *Currently not available in all markets. Please check for availability. 11 A permanent vinyl tag is wrapped around the twine and each tag holds a radio frequency identification chip that stores the valuable individual bale information. Tags can be read in three different ways. When the tags are scanned they are powered up by the RFID signal from the scanner so the data can be read. Loader Mounted Hand held Portal frame GPS yield mapping for accurate fertiliser utilisation. GPS location is also assigned to the tag for bale location when traceability is required for straw biomass plants or the hay needs to be traced back to producer. www.masseyferguson.com 12 600 Series Large Square ISOBUS Automatic Modules and Applicator Keeping complete control in your hands The HayBoss G2 can utilise your iPad® as a monitor for non-ISOBUS balers (requires IOS 8.0.1 or above). The HayBoss applicator will cope with the high output and demand of the professional large scale farmer, specialist hay producer and farm contractor using a conventional small square baler with baling speeds upto 36 tonnes per hour. The HayBoss 600 Series and 400T Series use an accurate star wheel system, combined with a baling rate sensor to measure how fast the star wheel revolves. Based on the bale weight and length, the HayBoss applicator measures the baling speed and continually adjusts pump output to meet the required Baler’s Choice application rate. Automatic bale rate sensors measure the baling speed, which continually alters as crop density changes. Application of Baler’s Choice is continually monitored to match baling speed changes and moisture fluctuations. 600 and 400T Series utilises the three pump system. Each pump is turned on individually as required and each pump’s output is automatically altered. The pump selection and output is determined by baling speed, bale weight and moisture readings. 600 & 400T Series Automatic baler applicators small square balers ● ISOBUS compatible. It is a single variable output pump, which is controlled in the cab. The operator uses the operating manual to determine the tonnes per hour baling speed of the baler. Based on the highest readings from the moisture meter the operator will then select tips and pressure to apply Baler’s Choice preservative. The applicator requires less initial capital expenditure but will use on average 25% more preservative because hay and straw needs to be treated for the highest moisture readings that are being baled, whereas in contrast the automatic system follows the moisture up and down during the baling process. Crop eyes can be added as an option to automatically pause the HayBoss unit when no crop is passing over the pickup. Moisture readings for the manual system are provided from the H8-FX2000. This unit will give a continuous chamber reading when connected to a 12volt supply. When the operator wishes to test a swath or bale the unit can run off a battery for hand testing. H8-FX2000 provides a good guide for small square balers when fitted close to the plunger on the cut side of the bale to pick up stem moisture. For round balers placing the pad 15-25mm from the bottom roller will generate a good reading due to the action of the rotating bale against the pad. For large square balers, using Moisture Monitor is the most accurate and advanced way to monitor the moisture in the bale, with the flexibility to add the fully automatic applicator to maximise the baler’s capacity. The control box for the manual applicator has an on/off switch and a dial to control pump output. 19 FROM MASSEY FERGUSON facebook.com/AGCOcorp twitter.com/AGCOcorp youtube.com/AGCOcorp ustream.tv/AGCOchat blog.agcocorp.com Every Effort has been made to ensure that the information contained in this publication is accurate and as current as possible.
