Discover Kakadu National Park
Explore Australia’s largest wetland
View Aboriginal Rock Art at Ubirr
Itinerary
Journey into the World Heritage listed Kakadu
National Park and you‘ll be surrounded by vast
tracks of savannah woodland, bordered by the
largest wetland system in Australia. Pass through
a variety of eco-systems such as monsoonal
rainforest, sandstone country and the world’s
most protected river the system the South
Alligator River.
In the cool of the mid-morning you’ll arrive at
Kakadu’s premier art site, Ubirr. The walk takes you
into numerous galleries of rock art and shelters,
which were used as recently as 40 years ago by
the traditional people of Kakadu. The hundreds
of paintings and views across the floodplains
and sandstone country into Arnhem Land are
breathtaking. After lunch you’ll visit the park
headquarters, Bowali, where there’s free time to
explore the numerous interactive displays, research
library, theatres, art gallery and gift shop.
Later, join a cruise on a wetland system that houses
the world’s highest concentration of crocodiles.
You’ll cruise east to west through the Mary River
Wetlands. The abundance of food which sustains
the large crocodile population also feeds a myriad
of bird species, wallabies and water buffalo.
The aquatic and land-based food chain found
throughout the billabong system is something that
has to be seen to be believed. Finish your cruise
parked amongst a stand of sacred lotus lilies with
a glass of sparkling wine and a fresh tropical fruit
platter to complement the majestic surrounds of
these internationally significant wetlands. L

Visit Fogg Dam Conservation Reserve
Itinerary
Relax and enjoy your Driver Guide’s commentary
as you travel sixty kilometres from Darwin to the
Adelaide River. Home to over 1,600 Crocodiles, the
ruggedly beautiful Adelaide River is the location of
the famous Jumping Crocodiles. Nope, we didn’t
‘photoshop’ the croc’s legs off in the photo above,
many of the female crocs are missing limbs from the
mating season! Enjoy the banter and stories about the
crocodiles from the experts on board the cruise as you
watch these prehistoric creatures at close range.
After your mini-adrenalin rush of watching crocs snap
their jaws just metres away, continue to the Window
on the Wetlands Visitor Centre for relaxing views over
the Marrakai Plains. Then it’s on to Fogg Dam Nature
Reserve to view a wetland ecosystem up-close. Fogg
Dam is also a great location to spot birds and other
wildlife. The monsoon and eucalypt forest, melaleuca
woodland and open water attract a diverse range of
birds, reptiles, mammals and marsupials.

After breakfast, you’ll head off to the fascinating
ancient rock art site of Nanguluwur. Situated within
Kakadu National Park, a pleasant walk through
woodlands leads to a quiet art site with fascinating
Aboriginal rock art that is unique to the region. Here
you’ll see an example of contact art, a painting
of a two-masted sailing ship with dinghy trailing
behind as well as dynamic and mythical figures with
traditional hunting equipment. Later in the day,
venture off the beaten track to Maguk (Barramundi
