Garth’s bestselling books, radio and TV appearances, keynotes, blogging and
articles tell the fun and fascinating story of the math, data and science that drive our
lives. For example, his Celebrity Marriage Equation for the New York Times predicts
with spooky accuracy how long an A-list couple will last. More of Garth’s
mathematical modeling of pop culture questions has appeared in outlets including
Congressional Quarterly, Publisher’s Weekly, Esquire, Maxim, Huffington Post,
WIRED, Cosmo, Men’s Health and many more. Of course, the idea to apply math to
life started while drinking beer on a Salvation Army couch in an Ivy League college
dorm room...but that’s another story.
"We chose Garth as our closing
keynote and boy, did Garth deliver!
The audience erupted with
laughter throughout the hour
session and Garth successfully
balanced his points between being
entertaining and being educational
and thought provoking!"
Since then, Garth has anchored a BBC documentary on decision-making and lost
the game show Wipeout; he’s been on GMA, CBS Early Show, Fox and Friends, the
Science Channel, NPR, CPR, PRI, MPR, and CBC; he was in the inaugural crop of
TED-ED speakers (among many other engagements for conferences, colleges and
science museums); is a core contributor to WIRED magazine’s GeekDad blog and
at Psychology Today; and has managed to write a handful of books from the
sanctuary of his semi-converted backyard shed.
Garth lives in Boulder, CO with his wife, two young kids and two Labradors. He
studied math and music at Cornell University and remembers working Games
magazine cover-to-cover with his dad, a former president of the American
Accounting Association.

“Garth’s keynote session at our
Enzee Universe evening gala
event was a tremendous success.
Not only were his books interesting
and enjoyable to read, but on
stage his enthusiasm, wit and
understanding of the role analytics
plays in everyday endeavors made
for an exceptional session that was
enjoyed by all.”

Equations for a Perfect Life
This keynote explores the ability to drive decisions
and predict the future with data. In addition to my
Celebrity Marriage Equation for the New York Times,
my mathematical modeling of pop culture questions
has appeared in outlets including Congressional
Quarterly, Publisher’s Weekly, Huffington Post,
WIRED, Cosmo, Men’s Health and many more. Are
you into business intelligence, data storage, quality
and analysis, or data-informed decision making?
This talk is relevant to any audience that deals with
data, including business intelligence, data
warehousing and mining, corporate decision-making,
econometrics, venture capital, gaming, investment
banking, academics, actuary, business statistics, or
even biotech and pharmaceuticals. Today, a business
can't be cutting-edge without being into analytics and I
hope to both entertain and inform anyone with a toe in
the numbers game.
BEYOND IQ
Brain-Training for Everything But Intelligence
This keynote is based on my book BEYOND IQ and
looks inside grey matter at what really drives skills like
creativity, innovation and insight. For the book, I
interviewed over 50 top scientists in this nebulous
field of brain training and this talk offers actionable
highlights (as featured on Minnesota Public Radio, Dr.
Kiki's Science Hour and elsewhere). There are very
real (very fun!) things you can do right now to turn
your brain into a machine of innovation, creativity and
insight. This talk will leave folks looking out at the
world and in at their brain in a whole new way.
