WELCOME BACK!
NAIDOC DAY
Our NAIDOC celebrations were a wonderful
success. A great way to end Term 3. Children
were able to learn about local Aboriginal culture
through dance, play, cooking and many other
activities. A big thank you to Shirley Thompson,
Trent Forest and our school’s
Ngaguwany-guwal Committee
for organising this event.
Thank you also to our families
and community members who
helped to make it a wonderful
day.

SPRINGFEST 2015
Term 4 School Performance: Lionel Robinson – Synth City
Travel through time to trace
the origins of the amazing
keyboard synthesizer!
Teleporting back to the dawn
of classical sounds and
instruments and swinging
through to the 60s to hear
the birth of the electronic
keyboard and its coming of
age in the 21st Century,
“Synth City” revels in the boundless possibilities of playing those black and white
notes! Lionel Robinson introduces members of the synth’s family tree with plenty
of humour, ‘fun facts’ and impressive demonstration, showing off the clavichord,
harpsichord, grand piano, Hammond organ, electric piano, Moog synthesizer and
digital sampler. Follow him on a journey of musical styles inspired by these
wondrous instruments, from classical, ragtime, blues, boogie, jazz, rock ‘n’ roll,
soul, psychedelia, singer-songwriters, progressive rock, electronica to today’s
synth pop and dance music – showing how the mighty piano survives, with
performers like Coldplay, Adele, Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga still giving pride of
place to this 300 year old instrument! As educational as it is entertaining, “Synth
City” stimulates an interest in music by showing the incredible potential offered
by keyboards today.

Commemorative Coin
To commemorate the service and sacrifice of the hundreds of thousands
of men and women who fought in World War One and to coincide with
the 100-year anniversary of the Gallipoli landing, Wellington Public
School will be selling commemorative coins as keepsake of those who
fought for our country.
The coins can be purchased at the Wellington Public School front office
for $5 each, with all profits from the sales going to the SOLDIERON
charity, a wonderful organization that helps current service men and
