First of all a hearty Italian greeting.
It is with pleasure that I introduce the new Guide of EDUITALIA, a no profit organization
which has among its basic aims the international diffusion of the Italian culture in
the field of Study Abroad.
The EDUITALIA Guide proposes a selection of the best academic courses of schools/
universities , trying in this way to represent a cultural guidance compass for the foreign
student.
Italy is a nation which enchants in every Region for its naturalistic wonders, for its
considerable historical, cultural and artistic heritage which turns our country into an
open air gallery.
Italy is described by those who had the possibility to study and to live there, even for
a short period, as a paradise for lovers of art, culture and savoir-vivre.
And I am sure that thanks to the EDUITALIA Guide, foreign students and schools
abroad can choose their favourite places for the best cultural and, in the meantime,
tourist experiences.

St. John International University (SJIU)
was founded with the goal of spreading Italian
culture and the study of the Italian language
throughout the world. Its founder, Professor
Piero Ceria, has always wished that Turin,
the capital of the Region of Piedmont, a city

Advanced School for
The school is located in Cuneo, a lovely
town near Turin in the Piedmont region of
Italy. Thanks to its location in piazza Gal
imberti, Cuneos central square, the school
is easily accessible by every type of trans
portation.
Enrollment is limited to 40 students per
year. This ensures a close relationship
between the teacher and student to further
an in-depth and personalized study and a
better enjoyment of the university services.
The study of two foreign languages is
obligatory. Students can choose between
English, French, Spanish and German.

The School
Passepartout is situated in a charming
1920s building, nestled in a quiet private
street in the city centre. Our Italian School
is located in a new fashionable area of
Milan surrounded by restaurants,
showrooms and stores. Our school
offers Italian courses in a warm and cosy
atmosphere. Students feel at home in
our small classrooms (maximum 6
students!) where they learn in a friendly
yet professional environment. During
our Italian classes, we emphasise
listening, speaking and reading, whereas
some homework will be provided to allow
students practise new grammatical

A pure and uncontaminated environment reigns over the entire area,
which is also an accessible and exciting place to live. Nature is generous
in the winter, from December to April, when the Dolomites become the
preferred destination for thousands of skiers and snowboarders - but
snow sports are not the only attraction here. Cortina d'Ampezzo, the
queen of the Dolomites and capital of Nordic and Alpine ski, is located
right in the Dolomiti Superski district with Mount Civetta.
Venice is one of the most unique cities in the world. Its history began
around 1500 years ago on the islands of the lagoon and developed in a
way completely unlike any other Italian or European city. The city had
strong relationships with the Orient whose influence helped Venice to
eventually grow and become one of the major economic powers during
the Renaissance.
The Venetians decorated their city with beautiful paintings, sculptures
and architecture and today Venice is considered one of the art capitals
of the world.
It is a magical and romantic city that presents itself as a fascinating
labyrinth of tiny streets, canals and bridges. One can easily discover the
elegant palazzos, impressive museums and churches along with the
Grand Canal and Rialto Bridge. After shopping in the small boutiques
and enjoying the beautiful sights, you can relax at one of the many local
restaurants and experience the richness of the Venetian cuisine.

The Faculty offers undergraduate and grad

The Visa Systems Service is designed to assist individual students, universities,
schools and study abroad programs. The goal of the Platform3000 Group is to
facilitate the preparation of documents required to obtain an Italian Study Visa
through services such as Visa Consulting, followed by Visa Processing at the
appropriate Consulate, and later an Italian Permit to Stay Service at the
appropriate Italian Public Offices.
The customer who wishes to obtain an Italian Study Visa may choose to either
address the Consulate personally or outsource the handling of their documentation
to the Platform3000 Group. Platform3000 offers a simple and alternative solution
in dealing with the complex procedures mandated by the Consulates. The
Consulates and the Italian Embassy, however, remain the Public Government
Offices ultimately authorized to grant and issue Visas and therefore the issuance
of Visas may not be guaranteed, even if the application is entrusted to the
Platform3000 Group.
Platform3000 can assist groups of students in preparing and submitting their
Italian Permit to Stay applications as well. The special on-line Permit to Stay
program and detailed instructions guide students step-by-step through the entire
preparation process.
Once all required original documents are received, Platform3000 prepares the
application folders and submits them to the required authorities on behalf of the
students. Students will receive a temporary receipt for the submitted applications
and will ultimately be contacted directly by the local police station (The Questura)
for fingerprinting.
Students, educational institutions, as well as Italian Public Offices and authorities
benefit from our Visa Systems Service as it significantly facilitates the administrative
process in regards to students. This service is increasingly essential as the
number of American students studying in Italy continues to rise.

OUR INSTITUTES IN ITALY:
Scuola Lorenzo de Medici opened its
doors in 1973 as one of the first centers
in Florence to specialize in teaching
Italian as a foreign language. In 1976,
the School branched out into Studio Art
courses, creating The Art Institute of
Florence. Since then, LdM has been
continually broadening its educational
portfolio and now offers more than 400
courses in Art, Design, Culture and Lan
guage to students from all over the world.
More than 40,000 international students
have attended our programs since the
1970s.
Academic programs offered at LdM are
academically affiliated with various col
leges, universities, and institutes in the
USA and in other countries, enabling
students to acquire 12 18 U.S. credits
towards their degrees. LdM is authorized
by the Ministry of Instruction, Universities,
and Research.
As the birthplace of modern humanism,
naturalistic arts and scientific inquiry,
Florence is the cradle of the Renais
sance and one of the best-loved cities
in the world because of its famous artistic
heritage and its magnificent architecture.
Rome, the Eternal City, is LdMs newest
and most exciting site at the center of
Romes ancient and Baroque urban
spaces a theatre of life and architec
tural exuberance. Tuscania, a small,
idyllic Italian town, has inspired artists,
authors, as well as a number of contem
porary painters, photographers and

Torre di Babele is located in the elegant, central
Art Nouveau neighborhood of Rome, near La
Sapienza University, the historical Villa Torlonia
park and the main railway station Termini, and
is only a few minutes walk from the popular
student quarter San Lorenzo, with its pubs,
cafes, restaurants, pizzerias and lively nightlife.
The Italian school occupies two floors of a
gracious Art Nouveau villa. The fully airconditioned building is surrounded by a spacious
garden where Italian courses may be held
outdoors and students can spend their breaks
and free time.
All classes are taught in small groups in a
relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
At Torre di Babele students find a wide range
of courses, from beginner to advanced, com
bined with a welcoming atmosphere and per
sonalized attention. Special programs include
classes for seniors, Italian cooking courses and
programs for groups and schools.
All Italian courses are accompanied by a rich

member of ASILS an organization repre

Calabria is not simply a land to pass through, but rather, a region to get
to know inch by inch, where the variety and beauty of the landscape
combines magnificently with the multitude of artistic and cultural aspects
that form the basis of our civilisation.
With its eight hundred kilometres of coastline Calabria is a region deeply
immersed in the Mediterranean. The economy, culture, history, folklore of
this region with its thousand colours and perfumes, owe their existence to
the sea. Its no wonder that every
stretch of coastline is defined by a
colour according to the sunsets and
dawns and the vegetation flanking its
shores: the Costa Viola (Purple coast),
Costa dei Gelsomini (jasmine coast),
the Sabbie Bianche (white sands) of
Tropea, the Sabbie Rosse (red sands)
of Crotone. The climate is mild from
April to September with the possibility
of pleasant excursions all year round. The Tyrrhenian coast alternates between
wide beaches and stretches of steep rocky bays with grottoes at the waters
edge and inlets reachable only by sea.

Tropea, or the pearl of the
Tyrrhenian, rising up on a section of
the coastline filled with picturesque
reefs, steep cliffs and inlets is one of
Calabrias greatest tourist attractions.
The last town here is Capo Vaticano
where you can enjoy a magnificent
view of the entire Calabrian
Tyrrhenian coastline. After Capo
Vaticano, Costa Viola begins, taking
its name from the colour of its
remarkable sunsets.
Nicotera, the Tyrrhenian Sea Gem,
holds an extraordinary patrimony,
made of natural beauties, of a
millenary history, of culture and
traditions. These elements are the
result of a magnificent intertwining,
composed by typical artistic and
architectural beauties. Thanks to its
position on the Tyrrhenian Sea,
Nicotera still keeps the charme of its
particularly pure environment and
offers to its visitors a phantasmagoria

and a sea whose waves inaugurated
myth and history.
Reggio Calabria stands in a splendid
position on the Straits of Messina,
with a magnificent seaside promenade
which has been immortalised by poets
and writers Gabriele DAnnunzio
defined it as the loveliest kilometre
in Italy. The Duomo and the Chiesa
of the Ottimati are well worth a visit
and the Museo Nazionale containing
interesting prehistoric and
archaeological collections, works of
mediaeval and modern art and
numismatic collections. One of the
greatest attractions of the museum
are the Riace Bronzes, statues of two
warriors, discovered by chance in 1972
in the sea 300 metres off the coast at
a depth of 8 metres. It is a university
city, boasting one of the most
prestigious faculties of architecture
in the country.

In the province of Reggio Calabria
we can visit Locri and Gerace, both
rich in art works and history, the
former on the sea, and the latter sitting
on the hill above. Locri Epizephyrii
represents a pilaster of Calabrian ar
chaeology. Solemn, noble Gerace is a
town rich in ancient testimonies that
rises up on a cone trunk completely
in tuff. Its city centre is still intact
with historic churches and palazzos.
In many of the workshops the ancient
trade of making utensils in glazed
terracotta with the shapes from Magna
Grecia is still carried on. The seaside
continues flat and rather linear as far
as Crotone, a site of considerable
importance in the history of Magna
Grecia since the philosopher, physicist

Cosenza, known also as the Athens of Calabria is the leading cultural
center of the region. The creator of the old town centre was Frederick
II of Swabia, who in the thirteenth century transformed the Castle on
the Rocca of Brezia.
The sixteenth-century witnessed a great cultural flowering, partly as the
result of the founding of an Accademia which is still active today, and to the
work of Bernardino Telesio. In the piazza where the splendid Palazzo del
Governo stands, we can also admire the Teatro Rendano.
Among the monumental edifices of Cosenza is the fifth-century Cathedral,
entirely rebuilt after the earthquake of 1184. The interior houses the Gothic
sepulchre of Isabella of Aragon, the sarcophagus of Meleagrus and Atalanta
and the wooden crucifix named after Telesio. The adjacent Palazzo
Arcivescovile houses the Reliquary-cross considered one of the most precious
works of art in Calabria. The civic Museum offers an interesting visit in view
of the vast repertory of antiquities originating from the surrounding territory,
ranging from prehistory to the Roman period. The University of Calabria has
its premises in Arcavacata, a district of Cosenza.

It is not easy to under
stand Sicily. Like a beau
tiful woman, Sicily needs
a certain type of approach
and cannot be easily won
over. All one can do is to
let himself be seduced, as
were the first Mycenaeans
when they passed this
way to buy obsidian and pumicestone in the Aeolian Islands,
when nothing else was known
for cutting and polishing.
The Phonecians also journeyed
along these coasts, establishing
trading stations and commerce
with every corner of the Medi
terranean. These were people
who lived in peace, trading with
Siculs, Sicans, and Elymians.
Sicily welcomes everyone, and
has always done so. Everyone
becomes Sicilian - you don't have
to been born here. Hermocrates
of Syracuse made this point way
back in 424 BC when he said:
We are neither Ionians nor
Dorians, we are Sicilians.. We
use the hand gestures of the
ancient Phoenician merchants,
we are as crafty as the Greeks,
as captious as the Byzantines,
and as blasé as the knights of
Andalusia, and we still show
great respect for the dead and
for the necropolises of all those
who died on the island.
