Running recycled fibers or with wet strength chemicals are processes prone to increase deposit build-ups. Cleaning interval may vary case to case, but by applying a surface coating, the build-up resistance improves and time in between cleaning can be increased dramatically. The MX06 surface treatment leaves a very thin unnoticeable protective coat that is a long-lasting and effective dirt repellent surface. Features The coating process includes: • High pressure water cleaning (800 bar, 80°C) • Manual removal of hard stick dirtied surfaces by grinding. • Removal of remaining oxides using sulphanilic acid. • Polishing of cleaned surfaces • MX06 surface treatment and hardening. • Applicable on all metallic and ceramic surfaces. • Long-lasting • Very resistant to detergents, acids and alkali. Wet End © Valmet 2015 Properties of MX06 43 Headbox Apron Reconditioning Deformations in the flow surface, front edge rounding and dents cause problems and difficulties in CD profile adjustment. With our grinding method, the front edge of the apron can be re-conditioned to the original accuracy of the shape. Yankee Head-to-Shell Joint Upgrade Yankee dryers which suffer from persistent steam leakage from the head to shell joint are a safety issue for machine operators, which if not addressed can lead to ultimate failure of the vessel. By removing damaging crevice corrosion and permanently sealing any steam leakage from the head to shell joints the service life of the vessel can be considerably extended. © Valmet 2015 The repair process involves machining back the head flanges and re-boring the existing bolt holes to a larger diameter. These machining operations remove any existing joint corrosion and allow the fitting of larger diameter, higher torque, bolt assemblies. The joints are re-sealed before final torque and the combination of the above results in efficiently clamped, leak free, head to shell joints. Features • Incorporates new design features in older Yankee dryers. • Allows continued safe operation of the vessel for prolonged periods of time. • Joints are fully tight during the paper making operation and hence no further corrosion is able to develop. • More efficient clamping of the joint with overlapping “clamping cones” reduces the propensity to leak. • Lower maintenance for cost savings Drying Section Extend the life of “problem” Yankee dryers 91 On-site Dynamic Yankee Balancing Improve operation condition Vibration problems can be devastating to machine runnability in general and for the Yankee bearing lifetime in particular.
