Introduction
Under the Patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin
Rashid Al-Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai Chairman of Dubai Sports
Council, the DSC is organizing the “Second International Forum for
Football Academies” on 1st & 2nd June 2013, with the participation
of elite of specialists and stakeholders in the development of Juniors’
football Sector in the UAE and international federations.
Dubai Sports Council is looking forward to the success of the second
forum to be as eminent as the previous one, especially due to the
participation of a large number of persons who have great experience
in different levels. They will introduce their leading experiences
during the sessions of the forum, in addition to special workshops
for local clubs.
The first forum organized by Dubai Sports Council in 2011, achieved
great success due to the participation of elite of sports leaders
specialized in development of football academies all over the world,
along with introducing models of experiments achieved great and
memorable success during the last decades, such as football schools
in Spain, Holland, France...etc.
This forum aims at highlighting the football academies’ system in
football companies in comparison to several successful football
academies in Spain, England, France and Italy, through field visits
and direct meetings with their officials. This system was approved
by the executive office of Dubai Sports Council. Therefore, it
is decided to approve the same for practical application in clubs
and football companies in Dubai, following the discussion of all its
different aspects with chairmen and agreeing on its benefit for the
forthcoming phase. During this phase, concentration should be on
development and preparation of young talents in order to represent
the club teams in the future.
Finally, we hope that everybody world achieve the utmost possible
benefit from the forum and gain interest and experience in this field,
and enjoy nice time and the great sport image in dubai.

Media Chief Executive in Dubai Sports Council . Sports Journalist
since 1985 He was the Media Coordinator for several sporting events
and moderator in many Sports Conferences, Seminars,Workshops
and Forums. Holder of the Arab Journalism Award in 2006, Has
covered many major International Tournaments and Championships,
particularly World Cup 2006, Confederations Cup 2005, Asian Games
2002. He is currently a Sport analyst in a several sports programs
main of which “Sada Al Malaeb” at MBC Channel.
Jean- Michel Benezet
A French Technical advisor. Holder of Bachelor’s Degree in Arts
and A Diploma in Psychology. Former player in French amateur
teams before becoming a coach, then a member in the technical
administration of French Football Federation. Moreover, he headed
some African National Teams, such as Congo, Madagascar, Burkina
Faso and Mauritius. He implemented his sports experience and
specialization in the field of international relationships, through
joining the work in the FIFA, since 1998.He was appointed as
a technical director of FIFA, form 2006 to 2012. Currently, he is
working as a Technical Adviser of FIFA and entrusted with assisting
the FIFA in technical development programs. Furthermore, he has
participated in the development of several technical programs for
National Football Federations, such as Nigeria, Ivory coast, New
Zealand and China.
Ioan Angelo Lupescu
A Romanian former football player in Dinamo Bucureşti, Bayer
Leverkusen and Borussia Mönchengladbach . He Played with the
Romanian National Football Team in the FIFA World Cup 1990 &
1994, and the UEFA Euro 1996 & 2000. Currently Chief Technical
Officer of UEFA and a member of FIFA\s Technical and Development
Committee .
Miguel Ángel «Míchel» Salgado Fernández
A Spanish former football player as a right back.
Was known for his combative tackling and attacking . He played for
Real Madrid , Celta Vigo and Blackburn Rovers. for nearly ten years,
Salgado appeared in 343 games in La Liga, scoring seven goals .
He represented the Spanish national team, collecting more than
50 Caps and appearing in one World Cup and one European
Championship.

Joachim Mester
He’s is University Professor and the Chair for Human Performance
at the Institute for Theory and Practice of Training and Movement
at the German Sport University in Cologne. Director of the German
Research Institute for Elite Sport . Training in exercise physiology,
sensory physiology, and motor control. He received his doctorate
in Sport Science from the Department of Sports Medicine at the
University of Bochum in 1978 . He is president of the European
College of Sport Science.
Eric Caballero
Lecturer at the French Football Federation, for training physical
education teachers. Member of committee for granting Certificate
of Educational Proficiency, for teaching Physical Education, in the
Ministry of Education. He’s Technical Supervisor of Physical Fitness
and Biological Sciences at Paris Football League. He’s Technical
supervisor in the Department of Football Sport & Study in the
Sports School at Pierre De Coubertin, Paris. Holder of Sports and
Physical education Teacher’s Certificate, Football Coach’s Certificate
and Certificate in Sciences and Techniques of Physical and Sports
Activities. Author of many Sports Publication, such as “Football
Training Season for Adults”, “Football, Training for everybody”.
Vincent Chaudel
A Consultant in Sports Marketing & Merchandising (Showteam,
Deloitte, Ineum, Kurtsalmon). He developed wide practices

Abdulla Saqr Ahmed Al Marri
Director of Al Shabab Football Academy (UAE). Emirati professional
trainer after participating in several courses in Germany (Leipzig,
Heidelberg and Darmstadt) and Jordan. He coached several UAE
clubs: Al Shabab, Al Nasr, Ajman, Al Ahli and Hatta, the UAE and
Al Wahda, and Al Khaleej club, during this period he was granted
many nominations. He worked also as Coach Assistant for the
National Team, and soon after he got appointed the first coach of
the United Arab Emirates National Team to lead it to qualify to the
Second Round of the 2001 World Cup qualifiers. He founded the
Abdulla Saqr Private Football Academy.

Ghassan Bin Sliman
Technical Advisor to the Board of Directors of ALNasr FC (UAE).
He holds the highest training licenses from the Union of European
Football Associations and certificates in Scientific Technical analysis
of the Games. Former player in Tunisia, Malta, Belgium and Norway.
He participated in many Sports Development Programs at Supreme
Scientific University for Sport Science in Oslo as well as contributer
to the development programs of the Norwegian Union of football.
He is a member the Scandinavian Coaches Association.
Tahir Helja Technical Development Director of Dubai Football Academy (UAE)
Technical Director, Head Coach – Educator, and Former Professional
Football Player with a significantly successful background and
interest in designing and developing high-quality football technical
programs, specifically youth programs. Possesses more than 40 years
of progressive experience, including holding professional player
positions in different teams in Bosnia and Herzegovina, UAE in
Al-Nasr Club, Dubai Football Company. Trained and inspired in
coaching by highly-recognized professionals in former Yugoslavia
who were known throughout the world and contributed greatly
to the development of modern football academy concepts: Luka
Kaliterna, Ljubisa Brocic, Tomislav Ivic, Abdulah Gegic etc.
Ali Mohamed Harrath
Technical Director of Hatta Club (UAE).
Holder of Master in Biology and Psychology applied to the
performance. Master Sport Management, European licensed in
Football Coaching, started his experience as a player in Morrocan and
French teams. Professional Sootball Coach and Technical Director
since then with Stade de Reims (France) then Charleroi (Belgium)
and FC VIANDEN (Luxembourg). Since 2003 in Gulf Clubs starting
in Alain Club and AL Jazeera (UAE), ALMUHARRAQ (Bahrain),
ALNASER (OMAN) and Oman Club (OMAN), then National
teams of Bahrain as a Technical Director and Headcoach.

for Sports Leaders in 2012. Former Player in Al Nasr and Al Wasl
clubs, now coaching grassroots at Al Nasr Club.
Takafumi YAMAGUCHI
Worked as coach and head coach in Japan Clubs (Kiyose Higashi
High School Football Team, Kurume High School Football Team,
FC Tokyo, Fukagawa). Coach of Tokyo Selection Team at National
Athletic Meet. President of Kurume Football Club, member of JFA
Coaches Committee, and Tokyo FA Technical Committee (Director
of Coach Education). President of NPO ‘Aliante’. A member of JFA
Technical Committee and JFA National Training Center Coach. A
head coach of JFA U-17 . Head Coach of FC Tokyo U-15 Musashi
and JFA Coach Education Instructor. Head coach of FC Tokyo U-15

Michelle Chai
Served for more than ten years at the Asian Football Confederation
(AFC), holding various positions including AFC Director of
Communications, Director of Women’s Football, Director of
Competitions and Director of Football Development. She is
responsible for the introduction of club licensing in the AFC and to
AFC member associations. She is currently Director of Technical &
Competitions in the UAE Professional League. She also works with
14 clubs in the UAE Professional League to assist them meet the
criteria of the UAE Club Licensing and that of the AFC.

Rashid Amer
Now Coach of the UAE National team under 17, preparing to take
part in the World Cup for Juniors 2013 in UAE. Holder of several
training certificates from the AFC (C, B and A) and professional
trainers license, Ex-player in Hatta Club, he also coached many
Emirati clubs: Hatta, Dubai, Dhaid and Dibba Al Hisn and the
Arabi Club.
Talal Mustafa Al-Hashemi
Director of the Sport Technical Department in Abu Dhabi Sports
Council. Deputy Chairman of the Committee of women’s football.
Member of the Local Organizing Committee for the FIFA World
Cup (UAE - Abu Dhabi 2009-2010). Director of the second session
of Women’s Sport Arabic GCC (Abu Dhabi 2010). Member of the
Committee of Appeal for club licenses in the Pro League Committee,

Abdulla Hussein Abu Khater
Expert in Sharjah Sports Council, worked as expert in Professionalism
in Dubai Sports Council, Bachelor of English Arts, and holder of
Master in Sport Specialized Translation. Specializer in the Rules and
Regulations and Laws of Professionalism, he worked as a Technical
consultant to the Professionalism in Saudi arabia and Jordanian
football Federations. Began his career as a player they administrator
and president of the Palestinian Football Association. Worked in
several newspapers in UAE, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, he is now a
keynote lecturer in sports.

Karim Tarhouni
Operating at Dubai Sports Channel as Senior Announcer and
Commentator. Graduated from the University of Tunis- College
of Law -specialized in studies and certificate of urbanism Law and
Environment. He covered FIFA World Cup in Korea, Japan and
South Africa, and Olympic Games in Athens 2004, London 2012. He
conducted interviews with many important sports celebrities: Diego
Maradona, Michel Platini, Michael Schumacher, Roger Federer,
Joseph Blatter, Jacques Rogg.
Diego Armando Maradona
Argentina and world football legend Diego Maradona led his country’s
national team to win the World Cup 1986 in Mexico after a phenomenal
performance that made him a football star with no equal. Maradona also
led Argentina Team to the finale of the World Cup 1990, which they lost
0-1 to Germany in penalty. He played in 4 World Cup Championships,
including the World Cup 1982 in Spain and 1994 in the USA.
Prior to his professional career, Maradona led Argentina National Team to
winning the FIFA U-20 World Cup In 1979, which put him in the limelight.
During the 1970’s and 1980’s, Maradona rose to fame while playing for
Boca Juniors (Argentina) and Barcelona (Spain). However, his greatest
success came with Italy’s Napoli, where he played from 1984 until 1991.
Led by Maradona, Napoli went on to win Italy’s Serie A and Coppa
Italia titles in 1987, as well as the UEFA Cup in 1989. As a coach,
Maradona’s career included leading his country’s national team during
the qualifiers and the final round of the FIFA World Cup 2010, as well
as coaching UAE’s Al Wasl Football Team for one season.
Sven-Göran Eriksson
A Swedish football Manager and Former player. won 17 major
Trophies as a Manager, with a variety of league clubs (IFK Göteborg,
Benfica, Roma, Fiorentina, Sampdoria, Lazio , Manchester City) ,
and became the first manager to win league-and-cup doubles in
three different countries. He later managed the national teams of
England, Mexico and Côte d’Ivoire. In 2013 he was appointed as
Technical Director of Al Nasr FC (UAE).
